So, this was a funny experiment. Since Skylanders and Pokémon Rumble U both using NFC it was worth a try.
Unfortunately you can't read them at the NFC figure reader menu, but you can read them anytime while you in a fight and Pause the game.
After pause at the bottom left corner there will be an icon that NFC is ready, so just scan a Skylander there, and unpause the game. The scanned figure will turn into a giant Pokémon and come to help you with the fight.
Apparently, you can scan a figure only once into a fight, but you can scan different figures into the same fight.
Every Skylander has its own Pokémon equivalent.
I tried Bouncer, and he turns into a Servine every time.
I wasn't the one who discovered it. It was a player named Michael. He scanned a Terrafin and it turned into a Nidoking.
So far these are the Skylanders' Pokémon identities:
Terrafin - Nidoking
Camo - Cryogonal
Drobot - Nidorina
Stealth Elf - Lanturn
Ignitor - Typhlosion
Bouncer - Servine
