I have read that Rumiko Takahashi is the best-selling female comics artist in history and one of the richest people in Japan, therefore her manga must be very popular in Japan. But which of her manga is the most famous / well-known in Japan? By that I mean the manga of hers that a very large amount of people have read and most young people have heard of it and know some things about it. Kind of like the way Harry Potter is in Canada and America (but to a lesser extent, of course). Thanks!

Off the top of my head, I'd have to say Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura, and Inuyasha, and if not Inuyasha or Urusei Yatsura, definitely Ranma 1/2.

While not as popular as those three, Maison Ikkoku is very popular and well known, too. She had a lot of successes.

Inuyasha is definitely the most well known of her manga, I believe, with Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura not too far behind.

Either Inuyasha or Ranma 1/2. But Maison Ikkoku is her best work, imo.

Whenever I hear the name "Rumiko Takahashi", I think of InuYasha.
