Russia & Ukraine - 'Permanent' Cease fire plan

I can't see a cease fire happening. Putin just does not care what other people think. He's going to keep going with this invasion of Ukraine until someone else intervenes. And that could make things even worse, what with Russia planning "nuclear exercises" and all.

Putin just wants the West to back off so he can take Ukraine without resistance.

Why can't Ukraine just let their rogue provinces join Russia and just move westward with the remainder? That way there won't be any separatists or crises.

Situation is just way to complicated. A ceasefire could happen, but only on a ground were both parties will not lose face, which is difficult. As long as the powerstruggle between NATO and Russia is escalating, Ukraine will not have a ceasefire. I'll try to explain why I think this.

TL/DR: Putin's current politics are aggressive and his foreign policy is very dubious. However, a lot of what is happening is also the fault of the Western states. The result is a game for power between "the West" and Russia, on which there currently seems to be a stalemate but of which the Ukraine people are the main victims.

Full version:
The problem with this conflict is dat it is to often simplified. Either as Aggresive Putin invades innocent Ukraine (Western viewpoint) or evil Neo-Nazi's take over Ukraine government and suppress the innocent people of Eastern-Ukraine who look to Russia for help (Russian viewpoint). In reality, there often is not one good and one bad party. The first problem is that both NATO is viewed by the Russian government as a threat. Not too strange, if you take in consideration that NATO was created against to form a block against the Soviet Union. Thus, the expansion of NATO and EU influence in the Balkan and countries as Poland, the Baltic States and Ukraine would always trigger a Russian response. This is the reason NATO has held back in giving a membership to Ukraine, even now, though talks about this in Ukraine have been going on for at least 10 years. The expansion of NATO, EU, and Western free-market and democracy doctrines to Eastern European countries created a situation were Ukraine had to choose between Russia or the West. This situation ultimately escalated when the EU placed pressure on Ukraine to choose to join the EU.

Now, Im not saying all of this is just the fault of the so-called West. The point Im trying to make is that the Western policy of spreading it's influence towards the Russian border, while Russians still have a strong distrust of the West combined with the ruthless policies of Putin result in a game of power of which the Ukraine people are now the most common victims. And both parties are now so deeply involved, that they can't get out without losing face. The only two options therefore are to either reach a solution in which noone loses face (which is unlikely), or to intensify the situation until this can be reached.

I seem to remember Putin only wanting Chinera, thing is Putin sees Ukraine as Novorossiya or New Russia as he has said publicly, allowing him to pick off Ukraine in a peacemeal fashion only leads to Ukraine as a whole falling.

Also now a Estonia Intelligence agent was captured at gun point on the border by Russian police. Estonia is expected to be the next piece Russia goes after, once they are done with Ukraine

I still think they need to give Crimea back to Ukraine - if not, make Crimea independent and give it back to the Crimean Tatars (who were the original owners of Crimea before Russia filled it with militaristic Russians).
