Ash, Brock and Misty start their journey through the Johto Region and run into a mysterious figure, meanwhile a brand-new Totodile is stolen!

Review:

This was a fun episode, a nice start off to Johto, yes I'm tackling the famous Johto region in a watch through, because nothing goes better than finally playing the Johto games(HGSS) than playing the games and finally watching the anime fully since I've missed around 40-60 episodes of it. I thought thought this was a nice beginning, "The Town Where the Winds of New Beginning Blow" was a fitting title for the city and I really liked it. Brock and Misty were entertaining in this episode even though they didn't do much, their comedic value was pretty high. Reminds me how OS was the Ash show most of the time.

I really liked the small references to Marina and Vincent/Jackson with Elm and Nurse Joy calling the Totodile's trainer a girl. It's obvious that Totodile is the same Wani-Wani(Waninoko) Marina owns.
That is now a Feraligtr according to future cameos
It's no secret the Cyndaquil is indeed Jimmy's Typloshion. I had no clue Vincent/Jackson had received his Chikorita before either of them had been given their starters, that was a neat little revelation. Professor Elm had an entertaining personality, what with seeing his teacher as his rival and being such a motor mouth. More Pokemon professors need small quirks and personality moments like that.

I liked Team Rocket, they were fun to watch because they didn't come off as idiots as much they did down on their luck lovable losers trying their hardest to achieve their goals. Jessie was having reptile accessories attached to her hair before it was cool. :p The Totodile was so cute in this episode too, the mannerisms and its actions were really adorable to watch as was that final scene with Pikachu on Ash's arm with him ready to take the Johto Region by storm. Lastly, I really like how Ash is going into Johto with his Kanto mascots.
And will gradually replace them as time goes on.

Going back to Team Rocket James being the level-headed one while Meowth and Jessie fought was golden, he was the one who tried to make the phone call to inform Giovanni of Totodile and the one who took the initiative and attacked Growlithe. Team Rocket actually made Ash struggle and the outcome could have been unpredictable, the combination of Razor Leaf, Thunderbolt, Flamethrower and Water for the finish was beautiful. I like how we saw four of Team Rocket's Pokemon battling. Totodile just awkwardly walking up and sending Team Rocket flying with Water Gun, someone needs to make a gif. of that. Loved the little guy a lot.

I feel like I should comment on Suicune and the encounter, well I didn't really care about it. It was nice I guess and a nice foreshadowing moment I guess.
....for Eusine's later appearance.
I found Ash and Misty's little spat more amusing.

Misty's little comment about how she thought Violet City sounded like a colorful place actually made me smile, reminded me how many locations in Johto and Kanto are named after colors.

I just loved when James was trying to make the call to Giovanni while Jessie and Meowth argued with each other. XD.

Anyway, I really liked this episode. I loved when Brock tried his usual antics with Nurse Joy at the beginning of the episode too, but she wasn't at the Center. Poor prodigal pervert. XD.

Elm only got a A- from Professor Oak. BLASPHEMY!

Overall Score: 9.5/10
