Since Dogasu hasn't been on in a few days, I'm posting this. Um...it's about Clamperls. I think there's an amusing Boss fantasy. I think this may be the season finale.

Um...yeah. Clamperls, huh?
 
Yeah, shooting off a play-by-play of the episode here...

It is the first episode of the Advanced Battle series. I'm actually kinda disappointed by the opening. Very disappointed. Unless it was because of my half-awaken state, it looked sloppy to me. I could swore that I skipped a season; wtf was up with the Battle Frontier footage? They had a lot of good footage that they could have used from both the 3rd opening and Glory Day... Tell me if I'm being too critical.

Yes! A pseudo-swear. I live for those. XD Team Rocket had some good scenes. As much as people are complaining about James' voice, I can hear where he's controlling it more, and I'm very happy about that. Eric continues to rock. The long scene where they're opening the pearl is highly amusing, and I enjoy it.

Are the voices of Madeline and that boy new voices, or have I just not picked them up before? And I enjoy the twist they put on the Trainers' Choice; it should be fun if they don't err badly.

Overall, very nice. I enjoyed it. But I can hardly sit through the Loonatics Unleashed commercials. XP

I loved the new opening, the song rocked! But, I do admit they just showed three Pokemon who haven't even been revealed in America!
 
The BF scenes are in there probably because of the title. And possibly because PSM scenes won't fit the music.
 
Sorry I didn't get up early enough to post the thread. My alarm clock decided not to be nice to me today.

And wow, the amount of bitching about the new opening on SPP is amazing.

Sounds good to me. Turtles can be excellent writers if you let them be. I just have to remember to poke my eye out each time they use 'shell' as a replacement for 'hell'. It's easy!

Intro: Love the music. Wish they didn't try to CRAM all that footage in there.

Episode: Very fun. Glad that there were so many Pokemon appearances.

Bumper: Interesting. If they can salvage what's left of the TC, I'll be a happy happy boy.
 
The benchmark for measuring badness of Pokémon theme songs is LOVELY, so we came up with a new standard unit for comparing badness: the LB.

In my opinion, this opening scores about 1.3 ~ 1.8LB.
 
I liked last seasons song better. WAY better. But something bothered me, they put TR w/ their little
Manene
friend. I thought he shows up NEXT season (the one that's currently showing in Japan)? I dunno, I feel like they shouldn't have done that b/c we aren't getting him for a LONG time.

The episode was cute tho. Lot of TR which always makes my day :shy:
 
I didn't think the new theme was that bad, but HOLY CRAP. I don't think anyone was expecing to see the Frontier theme in there. Although the theme wasn't closed captioned. Actually, the whole ep's captions were delayed, but that seems to be a network problem rather than just with this show.

And on the title screen, the case had the ball symbol rather than the line.

Man, Torkoal is six kinds of stupid, huh? Reminds me of Ash.

So they have a captain on that ship and yet this person never offers to help when they stop. Huh.

Did Isaiah have a new VA? He sure sounded new, although he enunciates a little like Tracey.

Maisie Island is apparently the location. Makes me think of Daisy-Headed Maisie.

And oh come on, Shroomish isn't even round, it's more triangular!

They're back to captioning everything in Meowth's accent. Even during his Boss Fantasy. And hey, James recognized that Meowth had said the same thing before! As in, he had memory of a previous event! How often does THAT happen?

The glasses James wears in his disguise don't have any arms on them, yet Jesse's do.

"One must admire his suave movements" "You can admire my suave fist!"

"You know James, your problem is you ain't got no fashion sense!"

Those little kids amused me. And I know some people are going to start shipping them.

And do my ears decieve me, or did they actually get new wording for Trainer's Choice? And new music! And they were right!

Clamperl sounded so much like Jesse that when I had my back turned to write this report, I thought Jesse was, for some reason, doing a Clamperl impression.

OK, so Jesse tells Seviper to use Bite, yet when it hits Torkoal, it does so with the top of its head. Headbutt?

When Meowth said that Clamperl like to be sweet-talked, I thought he was going to dress up and try to shmooze it.

James' cards make another appearance, and apparently he still sleeves them.

Apparently Clamperls don't mind having pearls in them. Pearls to real oysters are an irritation.

When Cacnea got hit, it said "Dustox!" and was captioned as such.

When TR blasts off, they accented Jesse's butt an awful lot, don't you think?

So...all they had to do was ASK? So why didn't it ask when the Rockets did it?

So, are they going to use this opening (no, I haven't seen it) through the Battle Frontier season? That's a lot of episodes... Team Rocket hasn't even gotten Manene yet...

That was a wonderous line. When they said the line about bouncing like Spoink, I was expecting something far less PG than James saying he could be a bouncer. o_O;;

Yeah, I noticed that the wording was different, too. It helps a lot.

It's kinda trippy listening to one VA talk to him/herself. There was no mistaking in this one. What a snooty Clamperl.

I think I expected more shmoozing from Meowth as well. It would have been interesting if he'd pulled out flowers and a bottle of wi... sparkling grape juice.

James keeps the things he collects neat. And I didn't notice Jessie's butt, although she made some pretty weird faces trying to get that Clamperl to open up. Perhaps it was a magical Clamperl that sensed TR was going to use it for evil... Oh, wait, they just wanted the blue pearl. Couldn't it have made another one?
 
Anyone realised that the new opening is longer? The last 1-minute-long op was Johto Journeys. It's something new.

Another thing - anyone noticed that Advanced Challenge/Battle openings are similar to Power Rangers theme songs? these guitars, vocals... especially Battle. It's kinda... surprising. And Strange.

Connection to Pokemon Ranger? ;-)
 
You know, I think this may be the first opening theme I truly dislike. Although I never thought the Advance openings were that great, they were still pretty catchy for a while. This one... I just don't feel it.

You're right on that.
To me, it was just a lousy song. It was absolutely not one bit catchy, too extended (but not as uh brain-shattering as Rival from the second season *only liked the beginning*
Still I downloaded the song and everytime I play it, it seems to get worse and worse which is weird cuz when I try new songs, they get better and better
4Kids needs new songwriters and maybe a girl or at least someone different because if I'm not mistaken, this has been the same person since like the fifth or fourth season.
The episode itself was ok. I did like JJM's moment because it seemed a tad interesting. And Clampearl sounded like Jessie and Misty combined.
That blue pearl reminded me of the blue orb....

Um, no. When these 52 episodes run out, Season 9 will have a new opening.

If there isn't a new opening in Japan, then I suppose 4kids will use the scenes they cut from the third AG opening and the Frontier opening, and use those skipped scenes for the Season 9 one.
