Manectric Charge: -_-. One of the worst AG episodes yet. And it's all because of the dub!! I saw this episode when it first came out in japanese, and while it wasn't the greatest, it was WAAAAAAY better than the english version. First, I think they ruined the music. Originally this episode had two insert songs; They played Pocketarii Monstarii when May was doing that Kareoke thing, and they played OK during Ash's battle with Watson. I know we can't expect them to leave the songs in untranslated, but couldn't they have put some more effort into choosing good BGM tracks to replace them, or they chould have put in some songs from the english CDs. I also didn't think TR was very funny in the dub, the only line I really liked was Jessie's comment about her costume. The battles weren't the best, but they weren't horrible either, unfortinitly, we had to sit and listen to Yami-Yugi...um, I mean Watson, yack on and on. I hate Watson's voice. Dan Green doesn't bother me that much in the Yu-Gi-Oh dub, but for some reason I just wanted Watson to shut up. Finally, this episode just felt really filler-ish (I used to think it could count as plot, but now I'm not so sure). overall rating: dub: 1/2 star. Japanese version: 2 and 1/2 stars

Delcatty Got your Tongue: After the brain-damaging dub of the last episode, this episode was a god-send. I loved it!!! Any episode centered around the uber cute Skitty is great in my book. Ne ne!!! Brock's come-ons were very amusing in this episode, and I liked that joke they did about Brock being able to tell she's pretty from her voice. I think the doctor lady (forgot her name) was a really interesting character of the day, and I liked how she was a role model for May and helped her with her training and battling. I really liked Team Rocket's disguise and all their lines were very funny. "He was hurt in a yodeling accident" lol. Finally, the battle at the end of the episode was very exciting. The one thing I didn't really like about the episode was I think Skitty learned blizzard too easily.

overall score: 3 1/2 stars

Does anyone else think that the mysterious man that battled the doctor lady was Lance?

Does anyone else think that the mysterious man that battled the doctor lady was Lance?

That was my first thought.

Did anyone else notice WB having problems airing the the second episode? After the first part (before and including the OP/Who's that Pokemon) and the commercials that followed it, instead of playing the rest of the episode, they played the first part (commercials and all) AGAIN before finally playing the episode. It ended up running overtime into the 9:30 half-hour.

No, I just don't like reading about Ash doing things wrong :) and he did things wrong in Manectric Charge so I wanted to not say anything.

I'm thinking it was either Lance or Drake. Most likely Drake, since this is Hoenn and Drake has 2 Flygon in the games.

Nah, it's probably Drake. Like Geodude said, he's got 2 Flygon in R/S (one in Crystal), and one of them has Flamethrower. Anyway, the first ep, Ash shows us 2 rookie mistakes that already happened: Having Torkoal use Overheat way too early and way too often. Doesn't it remind you of a certain busty Gym Leader from 2 weeks ago? ;)

Well Pokemon Fan pointed out on SPP that Ash probably just wanted to, like he said, see what Torkoal could do. He wanted to find out exactly what Overheat's limits were on this particular Torkoal. Now he knows for sure that he can't use it more than twice in any one battle. Better to find that out in a meaningless battle than at the next Gym or something.

Yeah, I also loved that line about the "bizarre yodelling accident". :-D :-D

Wasn't that guy presented as kinda evil? Lance isn't the only spikey-haired trainer out there...

Can someone capture that pic though please?

Yeah, I also liked the line about the "bizarre yodelling accident".

And that was really funny!!!!

LOL.

XD

Anyway, here's me reviews of these 2 episodes:

"Manectric Charge" - This was a really good episode! And I loved how they were all at that amusement park (I think that's what it was) at the beginning. That was so cool! And I liked all of those scenes of all the things they were doing there. Anyway, I thought it was interesting how Team Rocket came up with that weird net thing, cause it was almost flawless. I mean, none of Ash's or anyone else's Pokemon could break it! So, it must've been really strong! And I thought it was cool how Wattson's Electrike used Thunder Wave (I think that's what it was) on the top of the rope holding the net up, and then it broke. It was also cool how, after Team Rocket was defeated, Wattson's Electrike evolved into a Manectric! Anyway, it was so funny when they were going to the gym, and Wattson said something about that ride at the entrance (I forgot what he said). Of course, the best part of this episode was the battles! And I liked the battle May had with Watt! It was really cool! And I'm glad that she won! Oh, and I loved Ash's battle with Wattson! It was so cool! ^_^ Although, I really wanted Ash to win. Oh well. It was still a great practice match for him, even though he didn't win. And I agree with Geodude on the fact that, in the practice match, Ash just wanted to see what Torkoal could do, and also find out exactly what Overheat's limits were. Anyway, I thought it was really funny how Team Rocket fell for the fake Raikou again, only this time there was more than one. And that made it even funnier! LOL. Oh, and I liked how, near the end, May found out from Watt that the next Pokemon Contest was in Verdanturf Town. That was cool! And, overall, this was an awesome episode that had some really good battles in it!!!!
^____^

"Delcatty Got Your Tongue" - This was a pretty good episode! And you know what, it's really strange, but for some reason, I can't remember what happened in the beginning part before the theme song (maybe it's because it's already been a few days since I've seen the episode, lol). Anyway, I thought it was really cool how they got to meet a Pokemon doctor (I forgot her name) who was also a coordintor that made it to the Master Rank! That trophy she had was so cool! And it was great that May learned a few things from her, like how to teach Skitty to use its tail to juggle those balls with Double Slap. That was awesome! And, of course, I really liked that coordinator's Delcatty! It was really cool! And I loved how it knew all of those different attacks! Oh, and it was interesting how that coordinator knew that May's Skitty could learn Blizzard just by watching Delcatty use it, and then all May had to do was tell her Skitty to use Blizzard. And I thought it was so cool how Skittly just learned Blizzard like that! Anyway, I'd like to say some more things about this episode, but I can't think of anything else to say right now. Although, if I think of anything else to say after I see the episode again of Friday, I'll add that to my review. And overall though, this was a really cool episode.

Crystal? I think you mean Emerald. :-) Anyway, I doubt it was Drake. I mean Drake is a good deal older looking, lacks the tall spiky hair, has a hat etc. and it's not as though that battle took place so long ago that his appearence would have changed a lot.

Then again, I doubt it was Lance too. For one, the figure looked taller and more muscular, and he had no cape, plus he was harder on Skitty than Lance would likely be. In appearence he most resembled the Orange islands Drake, but again it's unlikely that was him.

Most likely he was just one of those "Random mighty Dragon trainers" that wonder around mopping the floor with overconfident trainers who think they can take on a Flygon with a Skitty using physical attacks. :-)

<><><>

As for how quickly Skitty learned Blizzard, we should remember a few things:

(1) It was being taught by an extremely experienced Delcatty and trainer, and unlike Ash with Pikachu and Iron Tail, Skitty actually practiced the attack while its teacher was using the attack (Ash had to first increase the strength of Pikachu's tail).

(2) Since it learns Assist which enables it to perfectly perform most any attack (provided another team member knows it), it may be that Skitty can naturally learned new moves more easily than most Pokemon. Just a theory mind you.

(3) Also, having just come off that underdog victory against Ampharos, Skitty may well have had a lot of experience energy gained that it could burn learning a powerful new move.

P.S. *minor SPOILER* however, from what I recall we will see in the next few episodes that Skitty hasn't quite completely mastered Blizzard yet.

God bless WB for repeating pokemon eps (though /why/ did it have to be in the 3pm slot?). Anyway.

Manectric Charge - Horrible. Awful. Really, really bad. Let me count the ways.

1) Electrike lost its beautiful staticky voice effect. Despite it only speaking about three times before evolving. And Manectric would've benefitted from the same static effect in its voice too. The loss and lack of are both painful.

2) Watt went through a VA change. I was sure he was done by Addie last time, now its JT Ross and...no. No. Ew. Poor boy.

3) Watton did /not/ go through a VA change, when he was the one who needed it most. Dan Green =/= old man. He-who-has-done-Solomon-Mutou (forgot his name *cry*) would've been a better choice. Honestly.

4) Thunder Wave? As an attack? Areyoupeoplecrazyupthere?!

5) Yeah, um, how are people supposed to get to the gym when Wattson loads the hallways with potentially dangerous stunts? Sure it's all a gag, but come on. You'd think he'd be a little concerned with a trainer's safety. *more of a nitpic*

6) And the most insulting bit of all: the trainers' challange. "Trainers! Which pokémon is the best choice against Manectric?" And your choices are Swampert, Larvitar, and Torkoal. ...And their answer was Larvitar.

W. T. F.

They set themselves up to look stupid. Both Larvitar and Swampert are immune to all electric attacks, so why make a question, then give two answers that're correct. Which is stupid of them. Unless they don't know Mudkip evolves into the Ground tribute by its next evolution. Which is even stupider.

The pros were alright. I liked how Brock got a shot at the soccer game. ^_^ And Skitty. Any Skitty action is awesome. It's so cute! "Nya!" And I guess it's not really when its excited that gets Torkoal all choked up, it's anything vaguely emotional. o_O Happiness, sadness, guilt, etc. That's insightful.

Final grade: I'm reeling from #6.

Delcatty Got Your Tongue - =O For a (EDIT: 'cuse me) not-so-filler-ep, I lubbed it so much. Brock asking for the back massage made me crack up into hysterics (even if I got embarrassed; oh mah lawd, Brock's flirts made me blush. It's all pity). He's getting worse. XD It would've served him right had the heavy woman been the doctor. And I wish it had been. Not because it would've broken Brock, but because when's the last time anyone overweight got some serious spotlight time (and I never count Madam Muchmoney), if they weren't already important (Wattson)?

Skitty losing its voice made it even cuter. I love its voice, and its attempts to find it made me melt into the couch. Its demonstrations working with Abby also made me squee, like when it stood up to perform its Double-slap with its paws.

I could say a whole lot more...but its mainly me giving Skitty googly eyes. :D I want one~! Also, all the cracks on Jesse were very, very deserving.

Final grade: It's all Skitty-biasness!

The second episode wasn't filler. It had May gaining sort of an idol, someone who had already competed in a Grand Festival, to get her fired up for more competing. She also got helped with her training for the next contest, and Eneko learned Blizzard.
