Japanese Episode AG 66: "Ludicolo! Dance Battle!"
American Episode 338: "Go Go Ludicolo"

Kids' WB!, 10:00am ET
Encore airing on Kids' WB! at 3:00pm ET

Um...something about a Ludicolo, and dancing, and lots of Mexicans. Fun stuff.

By the way, does anyone know the origin of Runpappa's Japanese name? Like, what words it's supposed to be based off of?

Post your thoughts about the episodes here. Please mark any spoilers for episodes not that have yet to air in America in spoiler tags.

This ep...was bad. The pronunciation of Ludicolo was bad, the random Mexican guy (with bongos of all things) was bad, and the entire storyline seemed just...cobbled together. It was bad. And usually I'm not this negative.

It didn't seem to be pronounced badly. They said it the same way I've always said it.

That said, what was wrong with its' voice?? I doubt this is the outstanding voice Geodude kept on about from Gotta Dance...

And didn't we already have a character named Poncho? You'd think they could look up more names...maybe...Ronaldo for this guy or something.

Brock's skin looked more...I donno, YELLOW in this episode. He looked washed-out and really bad.

And Dogasu--I'm presuming Runpapa comes from the sound of a drumbeat. You know, that slight flourish done before a march?

Oh yeah--WHY doesn't Ash ever show his other Pokémon that one of their comerades evolved until way later? That can't be the polite thing to do.

And hey, was it just me, or was James' hair actually BLUE in this episode? Not like it used to be, but hey, it's something

Yeah, Pancho was the name of the Diglet rancher in the Orange Islands. The episode was pretty amusing, overall.

Overall, it was rather interesting. I liked the way Ash said yes when Brock told him that he should probably pick his 3 Pokémon now. I felt really bad for Corphish, though. It was also nice how they didn't truly befriend the Character of the Day until the very end of the episode. It reminded me of that hiker in Bulbasaur's Mysterious Garden, but we didn't follow him around or meet back up with him like we did with Poncho.

How can people sit like this

From Pokéjello.

in a net? Ah, whatever. I give it a 7.5/10

I admit, I forgot that it was pronounced "loo-di-KO-lo" until I saw this episode. I kept pronouncing it "loo-DI-koo-low" or "lu-DIK-yoo-low". Man.... Don't ask....

You didn't like it either, huh. At least I liked its trainer's accent.

He should have had another name. Ronaldo would have been nice. Just... something other than Poncho, dang it.

I had an odd feeling about the coloring of this episode, but couldn't pinpoint it. I'll have to look for that (and James' blue hair) next time.

It's strange how it's like:

Ash: Come out, everybody!
(*May and Brock may release their Pokémon also*)
Everybody: Yay! (Or equivalent signature sound) *Turns and stares at new/newly-evolved Pokémon blankly*
New/newly-evolved Pokémon: *Stares back with that ".... ....What?" look*
Ash: Oh yeah, this is ___! Say hi!
Everybody: Oh! *Gathers around to say hi or congratulate them*

Maybe it's because people release their Pokémon more often in front of the audience, so we get to see their reaction? Maybe he forgets, or doesn't really want to show them all immediately just for the sake of showing them. They'll know eventually, or be smart enough to figure it out if they're introduced to each other in, say, a double battle or something. As to whether it's rude or not, I don't know.

Heh, that makes me laugh.

That reminds me, did Pancho ever get the sandwiches before Team Rocket attacked him?

Yes. If you look closely, you can see lavender above and also to the left of hands. That's the cloth he used to carry the sandwiches in.

This episode was okay, but I wouldn't put it on my favorites list. Corphish was funny during the episode and Poncho was wacky, which was a good thing. The sight of Ludicolo dancing was really funny to me since I loved Gotta Dance on the sixth movie DVD. It was bland in general, so I'm looking forward to the Petalburg City episodes.

Well Dogasu, I do know that Ludicolo probably comes from Ridicolo, spanish for ridiculous. I have alos heard it is named after a plant. For Rumpapa however, I think it is supposed to be a sound effect. Or maybe it has its roots in Spanish, since HasuBREO has some spanish origin in it's name.

Poncho and Ludicolo were done by Eric Stuart, btw.

Here's my review of this episode (sorry if it seems a little shorter than it usually is, but since I saw this episode on Saturday and it's been a few days, I don't really remember everything that happened in it):

I thought it was pretty good! And it made sense how Corphish got jealous of Grovyle like that, especially since everyone was praising it and complementing it. Although, when Ash and Poncho had their first battle, I felt really bad for Corphish because it lost, even thought it tried really hard to win. And I also felt bad for Ash, because he lost, and no one got to get any of that food, since they made that deal with Poncho. But, I liked the part when Corphish saved both Poncho and Ludicolo. That was really cool! And I also liked how, later in the episode, everyone was praising and complementing Corphish, because it did great in that one battle. Oh, and I really liked the part at the end, when Ash was battling Poncho again, with Torkoal. And I thought it was great how Ash and Torkoal seemed to be doing so good in that battle, and I loved how well they worked together. That was so cool!! Of course, as usual, I wanted to see the end of the battle, and who won it. But, I guess the writers like to tease us with a battle at the end of episodes sometimes. LOL. XD Anyway, overall, I loved this episode, it was exciting and interesting, and I really enjoyed watching it.

It was close to the voice from Gotta Dance, but the pronunciation of the name was different for some odd reason.
