Wow. A dub title that's based off a Broadway show tune. I may eventually start liking the writers again if they keep this up.
 
The end of this episode was deliciously potent and had fantastic music.

In fact, the entire ep was a huge emo-jerker and also has one of the funniest TR appearences ever.

GOD HELP THE DUB IF THEY SCREW THIS ONE UP.

Which BGM is used in this episode, by the way?


Is it the instrumental version of Advance Adventure that was played in the previous episode ("Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snorunt")? I love that song!!!!!! <3

Or is it a really cool remix from the games or something?
 
I don't remember, since I saw the ep over a year ago. All I remember saying during the ep was "PleasedontchangetheBGMwhenitcomeshere."

Although, during the Max sliding down the hill scene and trying to get to the Pokemon Center scenes, they had a Japanese song that was really beautiful. They'll probably replace it with some junky BGM with Max making a whole bunch of grunts and stuff.

Well, one thing I think is interesting is that they keep the song Advance Adventure every time it's used in the show.

And yeah, I know it's instrumental and has no words, but it's still the Japanese theme.

I think it's great that they keep it in the dub!! ^^


And speaking of the dub, I thought they did pretty good with keeping most of the music in last week's episode "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snorunt".

So, who knows, maybe they'll do the same thing with this episode.

Smile is the song used during Max's run to the Centre - the BGM at the end I can't place at all. I think it's a remix of an existing BGM especially for the ep - which isn't that unusual when you think of the one-offs like the slow version of OK!.

Smile definitely wont be kept unless they get an instrumental of it instead. Although considering it's a montage clip it'd be hard to pull it off JUST with a BGM track so a dub vocal track is possible.

And they don't keep Advance Adventure every time either. Nor do they keep the theme songs used where Advance Adventure normally would be as they picked up the habit of using full vocal tracks for some reason.

A lot fit but there are a good few that don't. Symphonic Medley for instance never really sat right for me in any ep as a BG track until the Lucy Battle.
 
I could imagine them playing the Raichu/Pikachu race BGM during that scene. XD They'll have to do something there. Probably just Max grunting or thinking to himself. Remember, 4Kids doesn't like silence.

Yeah, Smile was the song. That BGM song at the end was really cool, but yeah, I think it was just for that episode.

I know there's an instrumental version of OK that the dub sometimes kept back in Johto. For example, they played that song in "Can't Beat The Heat" when Charizard was using Seismic Toss on Blastoise for the finishing move, and there's even a little bit of solo of the song right after that part, cause no one says anything (I loved that!).

Oh, so the Japanese version doesn't even use the Advance Adventure instrumental as BGM anymore?

Or they do have it, but it's just in a different place than where the dub places it?

They don't always use Advance Adventure any more. In fact, around the episodes they're dubbing now OK! and Ready Go were both pretty popular with the music producers and were blasted in their full lyrical versions.

Only instrumental - it was featured in (at least) the ep with the Marill in earlyish Johto. The one with the bow on it's head. (Just checked - it's 'For Crying out loud')

I haven't heard the AA instrumental since before Battle Frontier began. They've basically replaced it with other BGM such as that Lovely Boy instrumental and PSM (Pokemon Symphonic Medley).

That's really sad about Advance Adventure.

I mean, as much as it's being used in the dub, I had always figured it was like the signature song for AG/Hoenn (that's how 4Kids made it look anyway).

And as for the music producers not using it as much, I'm not sure why they're doing that. It's a really great, up-beat song and everything. And I actually got it stuck it my head recently......


Oh well, that's yet another reason why I need to get the CD that particular song is on (Advance Adventure is also the name of the CD, I think).

O_________O Best. Episode. Ever. Oh my #^#@! GOD!

Original TR battle (they know how to battle! TTvTT it's beautiful), original plot twists of an old concept, original blast-offs, and go Jesse in the Gardevoir costume! Oh my god, oh my god.

...Oh my god. *can barely breathe from it all* O__________O This...fuck! It's almost perverse how good this episode is. There are no words. Absolutely no words.



And while Ralts' voice is nothing to write home about, Gardevoir's is.
 
This episode should come as a surprise and a welcomed addition to all fans.

Two thumbs up.
 
It was a good ep but the last chunk of AG episodes barring the Trapinch/Absol episode were far superior. Episodes like this are usually overrated and blown out of proportion just because the writers attempt to make it emotional, and more often then not end up failing.

Oh, and anyone who thinks that Max will honestly go back for Ralts (lol) needs to be smacked. :p

They didn't fail with this one.
 
It was a great ep, but I felt the May/Swablu episode was better. This one just gets bonus points for having excellent animation (did you see the forest, it actually looked real for once then being the same generic forest backround they use), and the fact that the writers finally made another Max episode rather than ignoring him. And that the Ralts line is considered a fan favorite.

Great episode sure, but the emotional aspect of it was the same as "True Blue Swablu" where May had to leave Swablu behind to return to its flock, same with Ralts returning to Kirlia/Gardevoir. Maybe I just find May crying to be more emotional than Max crying, but it's more or less the same thing.
