Japanese Episode AG 118: "Get a Gonbe with 'Haruka Delicious'!"
American Episode 389: "Berry, Berry Interesting"

0303.jpg

Kids' WB!, 10:00am ET
Now that May has won her fifth Contest Ribbon, she's ready to start training for the Grand Festival. While trying to perfect her special Pokéblock, the May's Purple Surprise, Team Rocket appears and steals the Pokéblocks of all the trainers in the area. A wild Munchlax ends up taking the blame, and it's up to May to prove its innocence!

Veronica Taylor and Eric Stuart should have some fun voicing this one.

Then, immediately after:

Japanese Episode AG 119: "The Entrance of the Rival! Masamune and Dumbell!!"
American Episode 390: "Less is Morrison"

0310.jpg

Kids' WB!, 10:30am ET
The time has come to introduce Ash's new rival! When a boy named Morrison interrupts Ash's training one day, the two start a rivalry that results in a battle between Ash's Pikachu and Morrison's Beldum! Who will win? And when will 4Kids realize that sandwiches can't roll down hills?

Post your thoughts about the episodes here. Please mark any spoilers for episodes not that have yet to air in America in spoiler tags. Also, no talking about how Kids' WB! skipped the previous three episodes in this thread. This thread is to talk about these episodes and these episodes only.

"May's Purple Surprise?" 4kids will never learn to leave things as they are, will they?

Also, Morrison is a boy? I don't know if he was in the original version, but he kind of looks like Misty...

Also, did 4Kids change the oringini to a PB&J sandwhich (again)?

Is it really that hard to see that the guy has NO feminine features at all? The fat Misty jokes are also awfully old.

Masamune was always male. This is the second time 4Kids have physiclly changed an onigiri into a sandwhich.

Berry, Berry Interesting

I’m with Ash. That was a weird catch!

Interesting episode. It wasn’t overly great but it had quite a few funny moments.

But why is Nurse Joy so shocked if they’ve been getting a lot of that recently? On the subject of Nurse Joy, Brock was just… wtf. Max is getting really violent, though it was at about the same level as in the Advance Challenge opening, I suppose…

Brock’s been carrying that recipe book in his back pocket since Lilycove City? 0_o

Come to think of it, this contradicts Whiscash and Ash.

Less is Morrison

Methinks Ash is missing Gary.

If you ignore the blatent breaking of the laws of physics, this was another interesting episode. It was good to see Ash get a rival before the Hoenn League and this is the most of Ash we get to see in this block of episodes.

Munchlax is great and I liked the implemntation of the Pokéblock Case. Come to think of it, Munchlax probably ate all the onigiri before 4Kids could do their take. :p

So was Natalie the name of Kelly's mom in "Pokéblock, Stock and Berry"? I don't remember her introducing herself in the dub.

Well.. erm.. now we know! ^_^

Not like it matters. Unless they decide to bring back Kelly's mom.

So far we've seen Masamune's onigiri turn into a sub sandwich, another badge case edit, and the Rocket-Dan's onigiri turned into a cracker. The digital painters sure were busy in this episode!

Berry, Berry Interesting: I found all the variations of the Pokemon going belly-up on the Purple block to be amusing, and it sure did sound like Ms. Taylor had a fun time with Ash. X3 I'm sure there was more, but I got other things on my mind.

Less is Morrison: Didn't watch all of it; TMNT was on. But I watched it long enough to know he's VAed by Sean Schemmel (Bad Sean, X( no goodies for you! That was horrible! I am appalled!) and that he sleeps outside.

Um, no. Natalie was the name of the girl from the Lotad episode in very early Hoenn. There were berries in that episode too, this was 100 episode long continuity.

Did Brock get a recipe book in that episode?

EDIT: Looks like he did:

So he's had that since near the beginning of AG.

Serebii's episode pictures reveal he did.
*raises an eyebrow* Way to promote there. Couldn't you have just said, "Episode screenshots reveal he did"?

*way off topic (and nitpicking), but thinks it was excessive*

So May-delicious would've sounded better? -_-

Berry, Berry interesting

I see May finally decided to use the Berry Blender for the first time since Lilycove with Kelly, but judging from the Pokemon hilarious reactions, it wasn't too good.

Looks like everyone remembered what a Munchlax was from the Deoxys movie. In the movie they didn't know what a Munchlax was, but in this episode everyone did. Nice to see movie continuity in the series once again.

May trying to capture Munchlax at the end was pretty funny with Combusken banging its head in the tree. Nice episode overall, I can't wait till the Grand Festival.

Less is Morrison

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Haha, Morrison is a hilarious and very welcome rival. I love how Ash/Morrison competed about almost everything; walking to the Pokemon Center first, sleeping in the tree, staying in the hot springs, arm wrestling, knocking down the cage, great stuff.

Heh, looks like the May/Drew fans were taken down a couple of notches with this episode. You know if May/Drew did what Ash/Morrison did it would be interpeted as flirting, nice to see the writers say that gender doesn't matter, they're still rivals.

I liked the Pikachu Vs. Beldum fight, it took us long enough to see Beldum in the anime.

James', "Twerps gone wild!" line was amusing.

May's Pink surprise? And I thought May's Purple surprise was innuendo enough...

Why are Ash and Morrison used to represent shipping on Bulbapedia, anyway?

Promote? Get over yourself (or this unhealthy nitpicking; whichever is more pertinent). Serebii's was the easiest to get to, but it's not like I'm giving him a pat on the back for it.

Have fun with the sandwhich one, Dogasu.

Berry Berry Interesting: Best Capture Episode EVER!!!! I loved it! I've seen it 3 times in japanese, and now in english. The dub was pretty good, although I think Ash and James talking with burned lips was funnier in japanese, and you can't beat Gonbe's voice!!! But anyway, I was laughing non stop through the entire episode. I loved the pokemon's (and Team Rockets'!) reactions to May's Pokeblock, Munchlax is just insanely cute, and May's attempts to battle Gonbe were hilarious. And it was great how Munchlax ate the pokeball and got caught from the inside. rating: 5 stars!!

Less is Morrison: I hate that title -_-. But other than that, this episode was also really cool. I liked Morrison's dub voice, and all of his and Ash's little competitions were hilarious. The best one was the two of them racing to get into the Pokemon Center! Team Rocket also had some clever lines and we got more Munchlax screentime, YAY! *glomps Munchlax* The battle between Pikachu and Beldum was also good. The one thing I really didn't buy was Morrison and Ash fighting TR's pokemon by themselves. Shouldn't Cacnea and Seviper made mince-meat of them? Rating: 4 stars

Is Morrisson really Sean Schemell? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! *dies*
