Review S08 EP31: Island Time ・ EP32: Like a Meowth to a Flame

We also meet Testsuya and the Return of Mr. Goodshow!

I can't wait to find out Tetsuyas name.

4Kids will give Meowth in boots a spanish theme....

Yeah, finding out Tetsuya's name will be fun!

He will probably have a good name! ^^

And how would Meowth in boots be seen as Spanish? O_O

Cause he is like Puss in Boots.

Actually, iirc, he had a spanishy theme play when he first appeared in the Japanese version as well.

Did we ever figure out what that thing on Robin's head is in the first episode? It looks like one of those gel things you put in the soles of your shoes to make them softer.

Also, now that 4Kids is editing onigiri into Western food, I bet the ramen shop they go to in the second episode gets changed into a spaghetti shop or something.

One phrase, slightly adjusted: Hawt Wailmer on Skitty Action.

And dangnabbit, WE ALREADY HAD A TYSON. HE WAS BIG AND BUFF and most importantly EVIL. Which was COOL. You! Tetsuya! T_T Find a name not taken!

And his Meowth's voice was......eugh?

First one: Your standard pokemon of the day filler. Nothing really eventful here.

Second one: Tyson, the new rival. Again, we see similarity to Ash in that his Meowth refuses to evolve. I wonder how come Meowth's Fury Swipes chased them off and not Pika's Thunderbolt? Foreshadowing? James wanting to keep the Nurse Joy wig-XD I don't really see anything unordinary about the Meowth except it has a deeper voice. Meowth gets pwned by a real Meowth-awesome.

Both episode had paint edits. Guess I have some screenshots to start taking.

So they didn't edit the Badge Case in the second episode. Which is kinda funny, because I think this is the last time we ever see it.

And why does Tyson's Meowth have a gay lisp? Oh wait, Team Rocket's Meowth just called it a "cowboy." Brokeback Mountain reference. I get it.

And has Mr. Goodshow always been called "professor?"

I don't think he has ever been called Professor....

Nice continuity thou, with Goodshow and Borck and Ash remebering they had been runners.

His name was always Mr. Goodshow in the Kanto and Johto league.

Why 4kids decided to call him Professor Goodshow now is beyond me. But hey, at least they remembered his name and he has the same voice!

Actually, I thought they had originally called him President Goodshow before, in both Kanto and Johto......

Anyway, my reviews and my thoughts on these two episodes will come a bit later.

*is behind and still needs to post last week's reviews*

I believe he was called President Goodshow too. And now we have a second meowth that can walk upright. Wonder if that will be explained. Another unrequited love with a female meowth?

Its explained in next week episode, he learned to walk in the snow, after being abandoned by his Persian posse, so Tyson gave him boots.

well, it looks like Tyson follows the rivals ending in "son" thing 4kids has come up with.

Tyson

and Ramen's been changed to noodles... not a huge thing since Ramen noodles are still noodles... but that doesn't look like Chicken Noodle Soup to me... meh... but it's really bizzare hearing May of all people talking about Chicken Noodle Soup... you know, considering what her starter is...

and apparently Mr. Goodshow received a degree in pokemon science or something since he now as Professor as a title... since alot of old men in pokemon appear to be professors or something apparently...

Given the fact that they arrived on the island via a plane crash in "Island Time," I was having major Lost flashbacks. <s>Had they drawn Robin to look like Sawyer, I would've been exceedingly happy.</s>

Did anyone else notice that Satoshi-tachi were wearing rollercoaster-style restraints on the plane? Seatbelts aren't enough?

I couldn't figure out what that thing on his head was; either a gel insert for your shoes, as previously mentioned, or a mask to help decrease puffiness around the eyes.

I suppose that "Robin" in the dub is a reference to Robinson Crusoe. Nice literary references in these eps, including Meowth ('Puss in Boots').

Wasn't a Rob a winner on the show Survivor? Like I think on a season last year, around the time this episode came on in Japan!

Given that it would have been dubbed before the movie came out, I doubt it.

They paint-edited in the Robin-san episode exactly what I thought they would! xD
I win.
Well... either that or 4Kids are getting predictble.

Holy-- I never thought about that! o_o;; ^^; Poor, poor Pokemon...

LOL, May is eating a helpless Torchic. For shame!

...

I wonder if May ever stares at her Combusken and gets hungry...
