JPN: Fighting Dojo! Satoshi (Ash) vs. Haruka (May)!
Dub: Pasta La Vista!

The time we've been waiting for, or fearing, is nigh. This marks the last Pokémon episode dubbed by 4Kids.

*sighs*

I will probably get flamed for saying this, but anyway......

Well, I can only hope that maybe, by some miracle, this won't be the last episode done by the original VAs. :-(

And I couldn't care less about this being the last episode for the company 4Kids itself.

Truly a bittersweet episode since this is the last time we'll hear these voices. Ah well.

A very good filler though, with Ash and May beating the crap out of each other with their fighting types. They should have mentioned that May was better with fighting Pokemon because of her Combusken, she orders the same Sky Uppercut attack with Combusken all the time. If the battle followed through, it actually might have looked like May would have won.

Hitmontop! They forgot Tyrogue though. :/

So long 4kids, you had an 8 year and 400 something episode run. All the voices sounded top notch in this episode too.

*waves bai bai to the season~!* Don't let the door slam you in the rear on the way out!

XD I'm happily reminded of Daisuke Motomiya from Digimon by this episode. This makes me happy.

However, you'd think from a THISISOURLASTEPISODE standpoint, someone /else/ could have done Master...Ham? than Eric? <.< His old man has always been awful. It's not a great lasting impression.

Eric probably requested he do the old man, just so he'd have one more role before he never gets to act in Pokemon forever.

Terry had a familiar voice too, one of the main females that 4kids uses.

Bah. He didn't need an extra role; Brock had enough extravagant exageration to make up for the slight lack of James. He didn't need the third. >.>

She was voiced by Lisa Ortiz. And for the record, Kyle was done by Ted Lewis.

I was so glad to hear Lisa and Ted in the CotD roles. If I'm thinking correctly, those 6 (Veronica, Rachael, Eric, Maddie, Lisa, Ted) are the only ones that have stayed around since the first season. So bittersweet. ::plugs SOVA here:: XD
I was glad to hear Eric as the old man. He held the voice well and it was distinct from his other voices, so I thought it was fine.

As for the episode, really good. I enjoyed it. May's eccentricity for noodles is very amusing. ^_^

The episode was good I guess. It was just a filler. I couldn't seem to get over the fact that this is the last episode with these voices, so that may be why I didn't enjoy it as much.

Really? Because the old man sounded EXACTLY like James. Well, costumed James portraying an old man. I was actually disappointed in Eric Stuart and how the old man didn't sound very original.

Pasta La Vista, 4Kids.

*pops head of foxhole* Is it finally over? YES IT IS!

Happy happy joy joy

*Tackled by SOVA fundies*

It was nice to finally get some real blow for blow fighting. Other than that, raman->noodles references up to your armpits.

You will not be missed 4Kids.

I can see where it sounded like James, but there was a definite distinction between both voices. It sounds like James is more of a deep throat voice, while the old man had a deep chest voice... does that make sense? It's in the way it's acted.
If you listen to "costumed James portraying an old man" in the Onix ep from the first season, it's sort of a blend of both. (I can't find my clip of it; from what I remember, it is.)
The only way it wouldn't have sounded like Eric is if Eric didn't do it. XD;

PS. Ramen are noodles. ^_^;;

Maybe they thought the writing was unusual the stupid little kiddies wouldn't know it's writing.

Aww, how sweet......

This was a very good episode! And I enjoyed it a lot! :-D

I don't think I can say it enough, I just really liked this episode. I mean, it may have been a filler, but it was a great one. And I could only imagine how much fun the VAs must've had while recording their lines for this episode. ^^

Anyway, speaking of the VAs, they all did a fantastic job! I loved the fact that Lisa Oritiz did that one girl's voice. She's one of my favorite VAs on the Pokemon cast (lol). And I liked Eric's old man voice in this episode too. Hehe, oddly enough, I actually couldn't tell that Eric Stuart was the person who did that guy's voice. LOL, I didn't find that out until after I read the posts on here. XD

Anyway, besides the wonderful voice acting (which was perfect for a 'goodbye episode'), I enjoyed the battle between Ash and May as well. Of course, the battle didn't really have an ending, unfortunately. But oh well, apparently, the writers like to do that to us (I wish they wouldn't though, cause it's great to know the outcome of cool matchups like this one!) Overall though, it was cool to see Ash use a fighting type Pokemon again! And of course it was very nostalgic too, cause he hasn't owned a fighting type Pokemon since Primape. So that was a really great thing to see!

And yeah, I agree with everyone about May being obsessed with getting those noodles. That was hilarious! XD

Of course, my absolute favorite thing about this episode was the fact that it had so much of Ash in it. Sure, it wasn't really an Ash centered episode (more like an Ash and May episode), but it still had many good Ash scenes. And that made me happy. It was a real treat for me, indeed. <3

You know, everyone's free to take a crap all over 4Kids for Yugioh,Shaman King,One Piece, and all the like. But even some of the most anti-4Kids people will agree that Pokemon has been 4Kids' best dub.The series that is,I have been highly critical of them over the movies, especially the first 3 and maybe movie 5.But even 4Kids' dubbing was starting to improve since movie 6.

So if you don't like 4Kids,that's all well and good. But we weren't exactly going through the hell that One Piece fans are going through.

Anyway,it seems 4Kids goes out on a good note.It doesn't look like there were any edits made to any of the fighting scenes, and this could've easlily been an episode full of edits. And all the vocal performances were great as usual.

Yeah,it certianly looks like the main original VAs were exclusive to this episode.(with the exception of Max of course) It may have been their own little way of giving the series a proper farewell.

Well pasta la vista to that.

Clean and clear cut, a wholesome episode for 4Kids to get out on. May's
'noodle' passion was just something I could only see in Naruto. Man, she was
desperate. On the other hand, Ash was quite cool-headed about his visit to
the dojo which is something I think has changed since the early series where
he'd be pumped in whatever situation he was in.

I could definitely hear Eric doing a James through the Dojo Sensei. When
James was doing the motto with the flower in his mouth, the muffled tone
was even more evident. Eh, but the sensei was performed well.

While the episode was fantastic, I can't shake the feeling that this is the
end of an incredible era for the series as a whole. I'm really gonna miss
everything 4Kids has done for the show, bad or good, it's not something
that's easy to let go of. Everything they've done has helped mold
Pokemon's image outside of Japan.

8 long years, and the show is finnaly going to be revamped. Just makes
me think I'm getting old...

It was a good episode. I just think that the best thing was the sensei wanting to leave the dojo to Kyle (who wanted to have a shop to sell noodles) so he can travel the world selling noodles.

Pasta La Vista, 4Kids. Your voice actors will be missed. As for the company.... go die in a pit. = D
