Ash has finally arrived at the Battle Arena! In his last battle with a Frontier Brain, Ash called on his old friend Charizard to help him win. Which old friend will Ash call on in his struggle against Arena Tycoon Greta?

Well, today marks the first episode with Scott in the new dub, Ash finnaly has a big role, and we get to hear how Greta sounds.

So, if Mud Shot is a ground type attack (or as Max calls it, an "earth type"), how come it's expected to work against TR's balloon?
I guess since it fired bullet like pellets of mud, it was supposed to act like a makeshift bulletseed. That's what I got.

I'm watching Chip off the old Brock now and I'm still thinking that Ash is the
weakest link. Emotion and enthusiasim is simply lacking in his voice and doesn't
exactly nail the scene (ie: telling Grovyle to use Bullet Seed, saying goodbye).

On topic, I think it was a rather decent filler. It may have been done before,
(Paras and Parasect) but it was amusing to watch.

Hm, the most memorable line to me is Jessie saying 'Brilliant!' lol. [Is thinking of that beer commercial]

Scott's a beatnik. XD
And we thought he was a pimp before.

And everyone said "Wheel...of...Fronteir".

I think so they can play on the word "Oy" which has become popular thanks to thing like The Al Franken Show.

Hmm. Anyone notice that Greta was the only girl there? (Well, her and Jesse) And why was Ash surprised that the next Frontier leader was a girl, anyway? He's fought girl GLs before, so why not a female Brain?

I don't know. He might have also something called "The Battle Arena" would have a male brain.

Ash's voice works, but I think that it's so different from Taylor it doesn't seem right. I mean, I talk like that.

Or he was looking for a boy toy. Whatever.

Anyway, I'm hearing a fair bit of Japanese music in the second episode. Hopefully this continues...

The motto in the second ep was amazing. *_* Yay for giant stone Rs!

Snorlax seems to have its original dub voice or something close to it back. So long, crappy new voice that first came in late Johto!

Both very good eps. But Ash's voice is really just not very good. It hit me when Snorlax was frozen and he was like "OH NOES, SNORLAX :(", and it sounded so unemotional and just... bad. Which sucks, because everyone else is pretty good.

Obviously this voice is hard enough for her to create without adding emotion. You can kind of hear her straining.

Gah. A Chip off the Old Brock was....gah. Not cool. Those looked more like the bitter medicines, which really need a focusing in on someday. And if they were based off the bitter medicines, they took out the "I don't like you no more!" part.

And did anyone even catch the dude's name? x_x And WHYANOTHERKATIE?! Wereyoupeoplenotpayingattention?! They all pissed me off. I love the Mareep family, fer sure, and these people....argh. No.

Wheel of Fortune was...no, I'll be honest. What would the chances have been that anything remotely like 'Osh' (yosh' without the y?) would have been in the script, had "Someone Else" been handling it? Or the possibility of food references/jokes when it came to the bowl balancing Team Rocket did? Anyway.

*smacks the characters* You should know what Rest does! Rest means Snorlax is back up to speed and you have to wittle it's life away AGAIN. It wasn't that risky! And when did Focus Punch get so cheap?

In regards to voices, they're getting better. Max's is grating on me though, now that it just sounds like the actress is pinching their nose. Ash, getting much better. May, fine. Jesse and Brock, tiny slips here and there, but both are doing okay. James...aggravating, but it'll be fine if his actor lightens up more and stops trying to sound overly like Stuart. Meowth, I'm barely even paying attention to, his is fine enough I don't have to worry. It'll never be the same accent, sure, but he's no longer so far off. He's got the niche.

IIRC...isn't this yet another episode that proves that the anime completely disregards the whole "four attacks only" rule from the games? I seem to remember Kabigon using something like five or six different attacks in this episode.

Yay Mareep family and Mudkip evolution! Shame I'll never actually get to see the episode.
Hmm. Anyone notice that Greta was the only girl there? (Well, her and Jesse) And why was Ash surprised that the next Frontier leader was a girl, anyway? He's fought girl GLs before, so why not a female Brain?
You'd think he would have learnt from Mossdeep City when "he" turned out to be two people.

Darn it, I overslept and missed "A Chip Off The Old Brock". X_X

Also, my TV guide said that they were reairing "Sweet Baby James" from 9:00 to 9:30, so I thought that episode was gonna be on TV. Stupid wrong TV thing.....

Now I'll never see this episode. Not if CN's keeps doing this 2 new episodes back to back thing.

Anyway though, as for "Wheel of Frontier", well first of all I thought it was cool that everyone said the title. I think that's the first time that's happened in the anime. ^^

Scott's voice is pretty good. It sounds very similar to the old one, so I like it.

May's voice is okay, I guess. Although, I still think she sounds too old.

Greta's voice was fine. And I thought it sounded good.

And here we go again. I still hate Ash's voice! It appears to have gotten worse (either that or it stayed the same and didn't improve). I mean, there's still no emotion whatsoever in that voice. And I really, really can't stand that, especially with episodes as important as the Brain battles. You can really tell that she's putting no emotion in those lines whatsoever, especially whenever Ash calls out his attacks and stuff. It's just not there. And Ash with no emotion is not the Ash I know and love! Come on, Sarah, surely you can do better than that!

Oh, yeah, and also, I still think she's trying to do her own thing with Ash's voice, because it doesn't even sound like she's trying to imitate Veronica's Ash voice.

Anyway though, overall "Wheel of Frontier" was an okay episode.

But, I think the battle itself was pretty good (aside from Ash's horrible voice which I cannot stand). I had to like, half-ignore Ash's voice in order to enjoy the battle. X_X

You all realize that CN will probably re-air BF episodes on weekdays eventually, right? o.o

No, I doubt that.

Not if they keep airing Advanced Battle on the weekdays.

Aww, I wanna see "A Chip Off the Old Brock" really bad. ;_;

I guess I'll have to download it from IRC, cause it doesn't seem to be on YouTube yet or anything......
