Pocket Monsters Advanced Generation 153: "The Lake of Hakuryuu!"
Pokemon Batte Frontier 007: "On Olden Pond"

Think "The Legend of Dratini" minus guns.

Then,

Pocket Monsters Advanced Generation 154: "The Battle Dome! A Fusion of Fire and Water!!"
Pokemon Battle Frontier 008: "Tactics Theatrics!"

Cartoon Network, 09:30 EST
Ash goes up against his third Frontier Brain, Tucker. Can he beat his fierce combination of fire and water? Can Ash compete in front of an audience of hundreds? And can Tucker manage to out-gay Harley?

What the hell is wrong with Corphish's voice?!?! YIKE.

Mrs. Galatea (Galetea? I'd have to check again) was captioned as "Granny" the whole ep.

And speaking of captions, they misspelled "Vaporeon".

Yeah, I noticed that too, Blackjack.

Poor Corphish, it's voice is awful now...... :-(

Anyway though, I STILL think Sarah's Ash voice hasn't improved after seeing "Olden Pond".

In fact, in my opinion, the voice is even worse. It's still emotionless, and Ash's voice was just terrible in this episode.

To be quite honest, I couldn't stand it. And because of Ash's voice being so bad, it really distracted me from the rest of the episode.

*sighs*

Maybe Ash's voice will be better with "Tactics Theatrics"?

I sure hope so......

So they actually remembered that Ash won the Orange Island league? Impressive. Little bits of continuity.

So what, no men in the audience?

Tucker's voice doesn't impress me. I know he's supposed to be theatrical, but he should sound more natural at it--he does this all the time, after all.

Well, at least Tucker isn't overly campy like some people feared.

Corphish doesn't sound quite right but it's growing on me.

Corphish sounds okay.

Tucker's voice was a bit odd - it was very villainous, I agree with that.

As for Sarah... I dunno, I think she's improving. I'm sensing more emotion in her voice and fewer "dead" times compared to, say, the Battle Arena. It needs work but it's starting to irk me less.

Wow!

I loved it when the announcer listed all the leagues Ash competed in!

It was great hearing him say that Ash won the Orange League, he competed in the Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn Leagues, and that Ash is one of the highest ranking trainers!!!! :-D

If anyone recorded that part, I'd really love to have a sound clip of the Battle Announcer saying all that stuff. ^^

Anyway, as for the episode itself, "Tactics Theatrics" was pretty good overall. The battle was awesome. And I'm gonna have to say that was one of the best battles I've ever seen!! Ash is an amazing trainer to have found a way around Tucker's tactics like that.

So yeah, basically the only thing I didn't like about this episode was Ash's voice. I just really hate it.

I mean, if only Veronica Taylor had done Ash's voice for this episode, then it would've been one of my FAVORITE episodes. ;_;

But, unfortunately for me, it can't be that way......

Voice call!

Corphish- Ew.

Ash- Well, I say it's improving.

Tucker- I didn't mind it.

Granny- Sounds like 4Kid's token old lady voice. o.o

Marshtomp- Is becoming more and more amazing! Unfortunately, Marshtomp shows up just a bit more often then Bowser Jr. appears in Mario RPGs.

Glad to see Squirtle didn't get as much screentime in the first ep as I thought it would. :p

I do think that Sarah is starting to realize that she'll never be a Taylor clone, and that it's better to be a good voice and a non-clone than a poor clone and a crap voice. I guess some people won't like that, but at least we won't have to deal with emotionless lines like "Oh. Snorlax."

I think you guys are just getting use to her voice, she's really not improving...she's just not for that role, at all.

Well, it seems as though I'll never like Sarah's Ash voice.

I really wish Pokemon USA would've hired someone who could imitate Veronica's Ash voice.

I mean, I don't understand how they managed to get someone who could sound so close to Brock's original voice (that voice is near exact, in my opinion), yet they couldn't find someone to imitate Ash's original voice.

That doesn't make sense to me.

But anyway, I guess what it comes down to is, Ash's voice is apparently a very hard voice for any VA to do. That must be why they couldn't get someone who could "sound-alike" (which is what I wanted).

And this is just my opinion, but I really think that without the "original" type of sound to his voice, Ash just doesn't sound like Ash.

I'll admit this though. Maybe you guys are right about the fact that Sarah is improving, and that she has more emotion in her Ash voice.

However, I'll never be able to tell......

I just can't see any emotion no matter what, and that's mainly because I want Sarah to imitate Ash's original voice so that it sounds very close to Veronica's Ash.

Obviously, I'm not saying I want her to get it exactly, cause I know that's impossible. What I'm actually saying is, I would like it even if she could only get a hint of his original voice in there somewhere. As long as Ash's new voice sounded at least a little bit like his original voice, then I would like his new voice.

But again, unfortunately for me, Sarah can't (or won't?) imitate Ash's original voice. So I guess that means Ash's new voice will never be up to my standards, and that means I'll probably never like it.

Why does it have to be that way? Why?

Please stop turning every PUSA episode review thread into a 'post essays about the VAs' thread.

... Yay, Tucker! ^_^

I'm giving her a perfect chance, that's just not the role for her. She's a stage actress, and new to voice acting I understand that...but as so, put her in a role that suits her, Ash does not.

I don't care if she sounds like Veronica Taylor if she sounds on cue, but she isn't. I do wish her luck in whatever other role she has, but when you land the lead role in the television series, you step up your game, even if day one.

...how the voice director is please by that? I won't know. However Lisa is right I don't know why they couldn't have hired a sound a like that well sounded like the other one. There is quite a field for people that do it when dubbing over people's voices in the movie industry to help the cuts get to television, and they need to sound dead spot on. But whatever, like I said I wish her luck.

The episodes were very interesting to say the least, I'm not sure if I overall feeling the season as a whole...I mean this doesn't feel like Indigo at all, where are all the people and locations? meh

NOTHING WILL EVER BEAT "HEI HEI HEI!"

NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, like did they keep alot of the Movie 7 Music in Tatics Theatrics?

So, like, what was Granny's name? I heard....something. x_x And it's impossible to spell Cerodactus or whatever without CC. Anyway, Granny was the token old chick, which sucked. Can't the elderly have non-I'm-about-to-fall-over-and-DIE actors? Imagination, casters, imagination!

On Olden Pond = so-so episode.

Now Tactics Theatrics....Oh my fucking god. Whoever did Tucker better have had fun getting all those lines, because if I was a dude, I'd SO want that role. Nevermind that he was MASCULINE LIKE JESUS underneath all that prose. *_* Tucker, you are my new friend. Hi. I love you. Marry me?

Tucker was awesomeness. I HATED Tucker before this morning, utterly LOATHED him. Now? He, like Noland, grew on me. At the fastest rate possible. And it doesn't hurt Victor (the green-haired announcer with the belts) wasn't hard on the eyes either, but Tucker is the star of my Kanto eye. *_*

And tell me I wasn't the only one who picked up on Scott and Brock's discussion on Ash's flexibility. XD It was so deliciously pervy and righteous. Bouldershippng and Dirtyshipping LIVE I SAY.

And the fighting was excellent! *_* Tucker was brilliant, and I'll throw in a good bone for Ash too.

....Yah, this episode ranks on my top three. XD Because there are ONLY three.
