Munchlax is finally used in finally used in a contest, Harley's new VA premieres, and Team Rocket has some weird "hand" guns.

After months of worry, 4Kids got Harley right. Let's see if PUSA can too.

Also, I realised something the other day:
While we have the evolution of Sceptile in time for tonights Deoxys special, the whole problem with it not being able to use its moves yet means it still isn't in continuity.
 
Harley is the one character that the change doesn't affect. He would be replaced regardless because his VA quit.

This Harley is even more campy than the last. But he's alright. I think he's a step down just because the the first VA was so great.
 
See, I don't think he's campy *enough*.

And I don't get how Ariados' appeal is supposed to be scary. So it covers itself in the web--so? Why is everyone so creeped out by that?

That's not actually true. Andy quit *directing* for 4Kids --but he still provides voices when he's called up.
 
Do they have to... make Harley AND James so ambiguously flamboyant?
I think PUSA was trying too hard to capture Harley's unique mannerisms from 4kids.
Though the first voice actor was really good so, as Al said, anything else would be hard
to live up to.
 
Ah...I thought he quit completely. That's how many people have been talking about it.

Okay, I still think Wobbufett should have screamed "ABBOTT!" when he saw Ariados.
 
Zoppi's got the Gio impression down. I can barely tell it apart from Maddie's.

All that's left is Ash and this new cast will be as good if not better than the originals. Add in firing the music staff and only using the original music and I'll be as happy as a Clampearl.

I don't grow why they made Growl stop rampaging Pokemon.
 
I have a question for Maddie; how quickly did you guys dub the episodes? I'm asking because it seems like PUSA is going through the season at rocket speed and that that may explain why the voice acting isn't at the level it should be.

Sceptile sounds good to me. Yeah, it seems they made Harley even more androgynous than before. This was worth the wait, though.
 
Darn it, I missed the first five minutes. :/ Ah well, I'll just re-record these eps when they re-air during the marathon. And next week's eps while I'm at it, so there's no overlapping...

Hmm? Of course the special's in continuity. It's just being aired a lot sooner than it should be. I feel sorry for the kids that have come to expect this kind of crap. The whole skipping the Pacifidlog Contest and now this are the two most recent things I can think of...

I actually laughed at the "who's prettier" exchange. TR dodginess is always fun. I wonder how long until James starts screaming backwards again...
 
That's it. I'm officially in love with the script writers. I don't care that they fucked up whatever move Meganium used and called it "Grow(l)" (Sweet Scent?). "Sceptile's shooting blanks!" is pure gold, along with Harley's 'big boy' line and the Rocket's "who's prettier" exchange.

And...wait, what? Cutting the Ties That Bind? It's Odd Pokémon Out. o_O;;;;


Right. <.< I don't get Harley's appeal at all. That whole display, meant to convey fright or not, phails for being so damn unimpressive. Wow, bungi jumping! Excitement all round! T_T Yawn. Wtf.

And I actually noticed the lack of impact-star screens! O___O It was like a whole new world! VIOLENCE! ROCK THE SKIES BABY.

And is...well, *cough* does the stick-in-mouth ever come back or has Sceptile disregarded the trait forever? ...Or hell, does it "get it back" after it relearns its attacks?

And one thing that annoyed me. Brock tossed all three of his pokéballs in Odd Pokémon Out...so where the HELL is Ludicolo? <.< Or did I miss some sort of early on exchange that took Ludicolo out? But if's that's the case, why throw three? Argh! Because it sure as heck wasn't shown in that relay race either, when they all released their pogeys.

As for Harley's new VA, I suppose it's alright, not great but not horrible. Grated my nerves, but peaked well in a few instances. Didn't send me back to my childhood either, but I can't blame Rannells for that (unfortunate side effect, at best).

And I still hate Contesta and Sukizo with a fiery passion. Oh how I dislike their voices. Quick, exchange Contesta with the narrator! At least then it would sound somewhat like the old Contesta. Argh.

Ludicolo was returned to the Gym when Brock went home between Hoenn and Kanto. It was mentioned in the Mt. Moon episode.

PUSA is dubbing at the same speed or slower than 4Kids.
