Torkoal's voice isn't as good as the old one, but it wasn't that bad either.
 
Oak sounds a little different than he did in Mastermind.

Don't you just love those Nurse Joy's that stand out and are different than the rest? This was one of them.

Isn't it funny that we're 450 something episodes into this show, and this is the very first time we've ever seen a Chansey in a normal battle? Chansey has never done anything but hang around Pokemon Centers, yet this one defeated Ash's Corphish.

So we have our Brandon rematch after a long time, and now we get to see Registeel. Ash's Torkoal returns after not beeing seen since the Hoenn league, and redeems itself with a very nice battle. You would have thought Ash had it in the bag too, but surprisingly, it seemed like Brandon won just because this season had a few more episodes left. The battle was a very good one overall, I'm glad Torkoal got one last chance to shine before AG ended.

Anyone notice that Brandon said he was off to the sealed chamber? If you played the R/S games, that's where the Regi trio is.

We also have May depressed and wondering about her goal, which is foreshadowing for the next episode and the end of AG. Great episode overall.

Brandon voice: NO!!!

Chansey was in another battle. There was...uh... -_-; ...ummmmmmmmm... Actually, I think it was Blissey that battled in a Johto episode. Wait, does that count?

I must say, I like this Nurse Joy better than all the rest! She's so bold! And that Chansey sure knows how to take a lickin' and keep on kickin'.....butt.
 
And Joy's VA did a nice job, not overdoing but also not underdoing it at the same time.
 
It was good (and although I saw screenshots so I knew Ash'd bring Torkoal back, I was kinda hoping Cyndaquil or Charizard). But, the thing is, when Torkoal is standing on top of Registeel's head, I woulda lit him up overheat at point blank range (I wonder what dig would do on a pokemon body --?). I honestly didn't believe Ash didn't do that.
 
Overall this ep was rather nice, I just didn't really like Torkoal's voice, but I didn't even notice the change in Oak's voice probably cause I wasn't thinking about it. Aipom with Oak's was funny though. The battles were nice, but I missed the part where Joy shows that she knows who Ash and May are cause my mom was yelling at me about exams.
 
I liked that battle, a lot. Something about RegiSteel moving like that was just...amazing.

I liked Torkoal's voice...it was kind of cute.
 
So now, out of sheer boredom, I watched my first dub episode since... oh hell, was it Sweet Baby James? Yeah, Sweet Baby James. It's... kind of nice to see how everyone's voices shaped up since them. For better and for worse... I'm just going to comment on Team Rocket's voices, really, since I don't really care about the other characters (except Max, but... his English voice was never very pleasant to the ear). Jessie's accent throws me off, Meowth sounds a little too masculine and James still sounds like Eric Stuart (and god knows I loathe Stuart), but otherwise, these VAs (two, right? Don't Jimmy and Meowth share a VA now?) are absolutely fantastic. I mean... they got into their characters so well! And James' new VA can act! Stuart could barely act his way out of a paper bag.

Oh, and the writing. Sometimes, I forget why I occasionally like the dub.

"So would you like a certificate of merit or just a big hand...?"

"Hey, quit bein' taller than me!"

"Oh, ye of little brains."

"We seem to have awakened a sleeping giant!"
"I am clueless as to exactly how."

Comedy gold, these three.
 
^ Yep. James, Meowth, Professor Oak, Gary and Dr. Namba are all voiced by the same person, Jimmy Zoppi.

He also does the new voice of Torkoal, among others.

I'm surprised you don't like Jessie's voice, most people would agree she's one of the closest to her original voice.
 
Oh, no, no, don't get me wrong, I love Jessie's new voice! Her accent kind of throws me off, though. Or... something else. Anyway, something about the way she says things throws me off a bit since it's not exactly like Rachael would've said them. Otherwise, though, I love Jessie's new VA, she really does sounds very close to Rachael's Jessie.

And my respect for Zoppi, which was always quite high, increased by a tenfold.
 
Zoppi as Oak is the sandwich I left in the fridge a month ago: rotten. I can take his Meowth (I personally think it's match-on in regard to pitch), but Zoppi's Oak is just like Zoppi's regular old man voice. As in, grating.

And for an episode that's all rematch-y, it was rather....friggin dull. Registeel's awesome, but they so underplayed its power. And Brandon's just as obnoxious as he was back then! 8D

And the way May angsted over her future, it gave me the impression she was contemplating committing suicide instead of what she was really mulling over; excellent tone righ' thar. Cheer up, emo princess! It's hardly the end of the world. >.> Stop sounding so depressed in those inner monologues.

So I guess Brandon's off for Regice, ain't he?
 
All in all, I'm glad Brandon's become a lot nicer since "Battling the Enemy Within." But he could still put in a bit more heart when he shouts "NO!!!"

Wow, now that was an all-negative post. You pretty much trashed over every element of that episode. Bad day, huh?
 
I looooooooooooved the Sealed Chamber reference. And the puzzle that was like those in GS! Things like that should really happen more often. Like every episode often. ^^

Too bad we never get to actually see the Sealed Chamber... :/

Nurse Joy was so much funnier in the original. Her dub voice is kind of a letdown.

Blissey!Wobbuffet always makes me laugh. :D

There was so really good animation in this episode, particularly of Registeel's eyes. I just went "man, those look cool" every time they appeared on-screen.

May gets her revenge! Wait, how? Because in every contest episode it seems like Ash manages to get a "I can't wait for my next battle, screw the contest arc!" line in. Now May gets to interupt everyone else, from our pov anyway. In your face, Ketchum!

Thank God Ash didn't call in Charizard again. I didn't mind Torkoal's voice, it fits.

I laughed at Meowth's "quit being taller than me" line. :D
