Ash's infamous Kanto Pokémon come back to help him battle Brandon. Yeah! Premieres in . . about an hour.

Charizard used Steel Wing on the tree twice, and the same berries fell off. There seems to be a lot of inconsistant animation in this ep.

Edit: "We've waited through nine seasons!"

Was just about to quote that part.

It's been awhile since they've last broken the 4th wall.

So wait...no one knew that Scott was the head of the Frontier? Didn't he say something along those lines in his very first episode?

And Confusion seems to have a strange effect on Charizard--it was acting more Paralyzed than Confused.

I'd like to mention Charizard getting beat by a normal dude like Dusclops is awesome.

Yeah, the animation is weird. The mighty Char falls. 3 eps of AG remain.

yeah this ep could have been much better. Great ep ruined by horrible animation. The whole Bulbasaur on two legs thing still is really akward. ALso that dub song wasn't that great.

I thought the animation got better in the second half. The first half looked screwy, but when the battle started everything seemed to get better.

- Liked seeing Ash's Kanto trio return and play off each other

- Ash and May's Squirtle meet, however briefly it was

- TR broke the 4th wall, ha. I also liked how Ash said how many years its been, I always like when they mention the passage of time in the show. Flashbacks were nice except Charizard Vs. Articuno had Ash in his Kanto clothes! WTF! He just had that battle at the beginning of BF against Noland!

- I loved how they played the AG theme music, all the old Charizard flashbacks and Ash's shouting to make it seem like Charizard would save the day yet again...and then it gets completely owned by Dusclops. :D That was great how they did the exact opposite everyone expected, and Charizard returns to not even get a single win. Man, Brandon is brutal.

- Bulbasaurs voice was good. A little off, but still good. But man, I LOVED the new Jenny. Remember how horrible she sounded at the end of Advanced Battle when her old VA quit 4kids? Oh god that was awful!

Thank god the PUSA Jenny sounds more like the original Jenny from seasons 1-7. I couldn't stand the horrible "manly voice" of Season 8 Jenny.

All in all good episode and nice beginning to the end of Advanced Generation.

Really liked that episode . . I can't remember the time I last heard that TR song. The one played when they were stealing pikachu . . anyone know the name of it or know if it's on CD?

Anyways, yeah, the animation was sub-par, but I thought it was a really good episode, the battle with Brandon was awesome and I wasn't bothered basically at all by Ash's voice, I'm happy with it.

Thank goodness only 3 more episodes left and then we get to find out what the heck PUSA is going to end up doing with D/P. (Obviously they're doing season 10 or they wouldn't of written about it in the script, which I didn't catch until I went back to listen to that part)

Really enjoyed it . . 3 1/2 stars?

So wait...no one knew that Scott was the head of the Frontier? Didn't he say something along those lines in his very first episode?

All he said was that he was recruiting new challengers for the Battle Frontier. He said nothing about owning it.

Anyone else like that "feel good" music after the first commercial?

And how long has it been since Ash got himself zapped by Pikachu? Probably since Destiny Deoxys.

And it's been AGES (probably) since we've seen Officer Jenny!

And for the record, Pokencyclopedia, it's "You're giving me a pain, but I can't say where cause kids watch this show!" But apparently PUSA forgot that so does everyone else...sort of.

Well Jenny wasn't so bad around this time. Rather pleasant, I'd say.

Since I got to the part where they were slicing up logs in the begining before giving up and going about my day, I just have two things to say:

1) No, Ash, it HASN'T been a long time since you saw your Charizard. You haven't seen your Bulbasaur since Hoenn, and, what, your Squirtle since Johto? But CHARIZARD, who you haven't seen since the BATTLE FACTORY get's the 'been a long time' line.

......It's just not right.

2) Whoever's doing Bulbasaur? 8D Yeah, work on that wavering emotion some. I know you aren't sticking around long, but come now, a little effort?

You mean TAJ didn't use Tara Jayne's vocal tracks for Bulbasaur? That's weird. You'd think they would, since that seems to be what they enjoy doing with Pokemon that appeared while they still dubbed the series.

Good to see that Charizard isn't totally invincible. :P

I have mixed feelings about that. Actually, I feel this way toward Pikachu as well.

Why...
in...
God's...
name...
are...
his...
starters...
NOT INVINCIBLE?

Pikachu and Charizard have both fought uber-versions of themselves, Charizard tried to fight Mewtwo, they both fought against Molly's suped-up Entei -- yet Brandon is handing them their tails. WHY OH WHY? Yes, I get that Brandon is supposedly super ultra mega powerful -- but all that experience needs to count for something, dangit.
