So the adventures with Cheryl continue, and they encounter Gardenia.

Why is it that Gym Leaders are shown to be celebrities even though no one knows who they are unless they announce themselves as such? I mean, look at the huge following Norman had. And yet Brock and Misty are able to travel around pretty much completely incognito.

Chery's voice still sucks. She sounds like a Nurse Joy, only even more docile.

Gardenia needs to have a more energetic voice. And Ash just mispronounced her name (saying it gar-deen-ee-ya rather than the gar-deen-ya everyone else is saying).

And come on--what the hell is going on with Gardenia's waist? It's like...smaller than May's.

Um...Gardenia/Cheryl anyone?
 
Yeah, I think Gardenia seemed more fun in the Japanese version. I'm not laughing at her as much in the dub as I did when I watched the original. Not a bad voice though.

Ash has now gotten his ass kicked by every single Gym leader/Frontier Brain since Anabel. When will Ash beat a Gym leader on his first try again? Hasn't happened in a long time.
 
Tell me. Is there a James/Gardenia ship? If not offically declare bitemeshipping.

A lot funnier than the previous episode after it got...nuetered.
 
This episode was... weird. Dawn punching Brock, Gardenia wanting to trade her pokemon for James, and Ash's expression on his face when Staravia couldn't hit Turtwig. Priceless.
That remote that meowth was using for his machine. Did it look like a Wii Nunchuck?

Yeah Gardenia's voice should have been more enthusiastic. Especially in those cheery spazzes of hers, her voice should have been exaggeratedly high-pitched, you know like how scary people get talking to pets and babies?

And for some reason I lollered when Ash yelled "Are you serious?!"

There were talks for a name some time back (I think about four were circling), but none were ever picked. It was named Grass not too long ago. *shrug* It's stuck.

Eh, it went so fast, I doubt anyone else would notice without stopping the video. *Glares at Gardenia Fanboys*
 
This was really great episode. Actually, this was one of my favorites. Lots of dramatic moments (even though a lot of them were "funny"), with appropriately placed BGM.

Sarah was amazing, I thought. She's gotten much better...she still has to work on saying "I choose you" however.

There was some border-line bawdy language used when Gardenia was adoring James's pokemon....I'm surprised they put it in.

I liked her voice- very feminine.

Brock needs to get higher on his voice. I know the VA is trying to "do his own thing" but....

The Combee at the end was really well animated.

My rating: A-
 
I thought Gardenia's voice was quite good, but I felt she didn't put much enthusiasm into the whole Carnivine scene.

Also, I was pretty sure the animation error was corrected, I didn't notice it disappear at all in the scene in question. Though, I was still half asleep (freaking 9:30AM on a Saturday morning timelslot)...

They only kept four pieces of original BGM, which is really disappointing after how much was kept in the last episode. I'm noticing that lately PUSA will keep as many seven or more pieces in the Dub for about half their episodes. But in the other half, they seem to keep as little as four or five pieces, which can be really disappointing knowing what they're capable of.

Other than that, nothing really stands out to me. No significant time cuts (at least that I'm aware of) in this episode. And it was a nice continuation of last week's episode.
 
You could tell Gardenia was voiced by Michelle Knotz (Jessie) but it was still a pretty good voice.

And yeah, that "Are you SERIOUS?!?!?" was great X3
 
I really thought I picked up traces of Sonny Dey (Greta, Hunter J) in Gardenia's voice, so I'm surprised to hear it was Michelle Knotz of all people. Unless "Sonny Dey" is Michelle Knotz's pseudonym....it's clearly not a real name, that's for sure.

But all in all, this episode was dubbed 110% better than that thing that aired last week. It's becoming a good thing when the worst thing I notice about an episode is poor acting for Ash...

Yay for crazy ninja Gardenia, and MASSIVE YAY for totally random Combee :D <3

Sonny Dey = Sunny Day = Pokémon attack. It sounds like a silly joke somebody came up with.

It would be too ironic if it really was her name.
