Japanese Episode DP 033 "I Like It! Pokémon Cosplay Convention!!"
American Episode 497 "All Dressed Up With Somewhere To Go!"

I predict that PUSA will mess up and give the wrong voices to the wrong pokemon in this one since so many of them are dressed up...

Wonder if we'll hear Maddie Blaustein's voice again...

Gotta Dance was the instrumental version in this, irc.

And the return of The Sinnoh News Crew. Yay. :)

EDIT: I saw nothing that Dogasu predicted. :P

That Trapinch-to-Turtwig threw me off. o.O For a moment, I couldn't tell which it was. But this amusingly remind me of an article my friend showned me, about people somewhere in the west US, having a contest of their poodles in a similar fashion, using their fur to craft a costume. ....;;;; One was a ninja turtle and another was a Harley motorcycle.

The fact that Brock gets all briefly emotional about describing how an egg feels and stuff when they're running to enter sorely reminded me on Togepi. =o Just one more pogey he worked for and never reaped from. Ah well. It's definitely made up for here.

But I liked this episode. :D

My mini-review
*Pikachu-As-Wobbuffet was hilarious.
*When Team Rocket is running out of the contest hall, Mr. Sukizo says something along the lines of: "NOT REMARKABLE ENOUGH!" That was hilarious.
*So i herd pikachu leiks mudkips. He transformed into a mudkip about halfway through his appeal. I lol'd at that.
*THE BOSS FANTASIES RETURNED!! YAY! Even if it was only Giovanni sleeping with an egg, it's better than nothing.
*We saw Teeter-dance again!
*Mr. Sukizo was hilarious for the entire episode. It was great hearing him say something other than "Remarkable!" every two seconds.
*I wanted to hear more of Perapp-Jigglypuff. It was hilarious.

So, in conclusion, I think I am justified to say that this episode was truly hilarious all the way through. If only every episode was like this, Pokemon would be a much better anime.

That Chatot SUCKED.

As I said before, that Kakuna who was the Crawdaunt (maybe a mistake, but later we saw a REAL Crawdaunt in the backroom) was the best.

Or the Electrode who could spawn gas AND FLOAT IN MIDAIR!

But no, that Chatot was some...awesome dude or whatever.

XD When I noticed Croagunk as still clapping as the Team Rocket attack was going on, I thought that the reason Brock would win was because Croagunk never stopped imitating Politoed. Aaaand yup. Yay for Croagunk having spotlight.

This was fun. Seeing all the ways the different Pokémon were dressed up, Pikachu's shape-changing ability (I bet the PikaBuneary got Buneary excited) being important, the return of Meowth's Weavile and infamous Sunflora disguises, the way all five of our main human characters got to participate, and the second appearance of the Sinnoh Now crew made up an enjoyable episode. I especially liked the way it began with the wacky camera crew appearing in the cold open and the usual "Twerps go into town, hear about competition, check out competition, decide to enter competition" routine was cut short with them being in the theater from the beginning of the ep. TRio stealing the egg felt a bit unneccesary, but I guess all episodes have to have "action". I would perfered just plain playing by the rules... but James and Mime Jr. being depressed during the motto was amusing.

I thought the Chatot was a bit funny when it first appeared for a split-second at the beginning... but its appearance in the present was annoying. If I were a judge, I'd reject it for being so repetitive. Then again, I think that may have been a joke since Jessie was the only one to note how repetitive it was. Bah, whatever. I wonder what the standards for judging were... Some really good ones got rejected. o.o

And hey, what was that music playing when Rhonda (Is it Rhonda? Whatever her name is. I always have difficulties with names.) first came out onto the stage? Sounded pretty cool and I don't think I've heard it before...

The whole first round seemed to have a very nice piece of dub music that seemed to be new.

Must...kill...Chatot. [Screen goes black and the sound of a shot gun being locked and fired repeatedly is heard.] Okay, with that out of my system.

Come on PUSA, everyone knows it's called cosplay. You didn't have to call it dress up. Whatever, it didn't have that much impact on the story so it's alright.

Pipulp muffs it again. Oh well, better luck next time.

The TR outfits and the new crew from "The Champ Twins" are back.

Other than that not much to write home about unless you're into that kind of thing. I was playing X-Com through most of it.

The episode never intrested me, I wonder what Dawn would've done in the Contest, I don't understand why everyone could've competed...

Most people who aren't anime fans have no idea what a "cosplay" is.

She did and Piplup muffed it by using Bubblebeam when it was supposed to be a Weedle.

I guess some of the newer fans of the show wouldn't get it. But like I said, the terminology didn't have that much of an impact. It just would have tickled me pink to here "cosplay" in the english dub. But, I'm use to disappointment X(

I'd say the majority of Pokemon viewers are little kids who don't identify themselves as "anime fans."

Mr. Sukizo was awesome in this ep. It was nice to see Pika actually make a use of those impressions it does. Chatot annoyed me in this ep. Lots of lols. Good ep.

I really enjoyed this episode. Chatot was extremely annoying, almost as annoying as it was in the original.

What I found weird though is that they kept basically every piece of music besides the battle music. The dub music, however, was extremely good during the first half. I mean, they sounded like REAL instruments!!

I'm kind of glad that they didn't say cosplay. Really, who but "anime" fans knows what that is?

This was Costume Business. Completely different concept.

The Koffing should have won. The Mightyene/Suicune costume was also pretty cool, but it seemed oddly drawn.
