Review S11 EP07: Luxray Vision!

This was a very good episode! ^^

It really reminded me of "An Egg-Citing Adventure" from Master Quest, how Marble kept saying that one-liner throughout the episode and also, how she called herself a Detective Jenny. XD

It was great to see another episode like that!! :)

By the way, I liked the music in this episode. They used some nice songs, I think.

And of course, my favorite part was the still-scene flashback which reminded us of the events of the first episode. ^_^

Aww, why does Sarah have to keep using THAT pitch for her Ash voice? I wish she would switch to something higher-pitched and more fitting for Ash. At the very least, she could make the voice sound unique and interesting (instead of dull and generic). And as usual, Sarah can't pronounce "Pikachu" correctly. :eek:hdear: *sigh* I think that problem annoys me the most, along with the lack-of-emotion thing.

Also, the mansion owner, Matthew, sounded EXACTLY like Mike Pollock. So I guess Pokemon USA has hired a fourth VA from 4Kids. Wow! This is surprising indeed! And I thought Pokemon USA was done hiring VAs since they already had Dan Green, Bella Hudson, and Sean Schemmel.

For all we know, they could be trying to hire as many VAs for side roles as possible. O_O

Anyway, something is definitely going on here! And I'm gonna get to the bottom of this!

Also, for anyone who's interested, these voice actors were listed under Additional Voices for "Luxray Vision".

Herb Lawrence
Meghan Mccracken
Tom Wayland
Emily Williams

I've never head of any of these people, except for Tom Wayland (lol).

So, besides me, who's betting that "Herb Lawrence" is the name that Mike Pollock goes by these days?

Come to think of it, after he's had problems with people saying his name around here, it doesn't surprise me that Mike Pollock was using a psuedonym.

But this part doesn't make any sense to me: Why was the narrator for this episode, the original narrator and not Mike Pollock? O_O

The same reason why Veronica Taylor, if she came back to voice a new character in an episode, wouldn't voice Ash in that same episode...

That's an odd question considering you guys are always on about getting the originals. Many people remember the original narrator from season 1 to 5 and like him and since he's already there and working for PUSA why change him. Besides it may upset a few people since they'd be wondering why he was changed to Mike Pollock and why they'd drop the original VA when he's working for them........
That'd make even less sense.

I know alot of people who were happy the original narrator was back back in mastermind despite all the other stuff happening.

Though if they find some way to give them turns in the deep future I have no problems with that.

We'll see what happens in future episodes.

Finally, I'm on. But it took so long to get on that I completely forgot what the episode was about!

...No, I'm kidding.

"Super Duper Ace Detective" Marble was definitely interesting to say the least. But at least her Luxray kicks ass. Especially that Iron Tail attack.

But...Brock? Where did the Mahogany Town thing come from?

RAAAAWR!! FIRST SEASON FOOTAGE!!! Of course, it wasn't actual clips from the first season, but it was still cool.

And really. I didn't know Pikachu could have that much strength in its teeth to haul up a full-sized Luxray by the tail.

My thoughts exactly.

Am I the only one who's annoyed by the fact that PUSA's dubbers actually COPY the original producers' habit of using random English words as character name?

Everybody seems to ignore the fact that "Marble" is not a real name!

Marble as a woman's name = Phailage!

Meh, I'm impartial; you get that sort of thing in other cartoons, too.

I rarely find american cartoons fun, they often are just a setting that repeats all episodes..

About marble... In tales of symponia there also was a woman called marble.
Such names are not to rare, japanese names often mean simple things to.

American cartoons are not what Pokemon dubbers should be basing on.

Most American cartoons are like... a bad joke.

It's in other dubs and translations, too. Mega Man Battle Network had a girl named Mayl, or Maylu, or something. It was based on "mail", anyway. You'll find it everywhere, but I do get ya.

Amount of Japanese BGM kept: 5
Amount of Japanese BGM that had their volume lowered: 4

Conclusion: Disaster

They kept her as Marble?
Too cute~ I like that as her name, actually.

It's memorable~

God god, I finally got past the Forbidden message.

Anyways, the episode was all right, nothing too special. I thought it was funny that Dawn thought Team Rocket could be the bandits Beauties 3. I also liked the 3 instead of the traditional R at the in the end of the motto. This seems to combine that SPinark episode and the one where Zubat evolves into one.

Is it just me, or did this episode use a LOT of recycled footage?

Marble looked like a full grown woman and I actually was surprised that Brock didn't hit on her like usual. It was only until her voice did I realize otherwise.

Marble is her Japanese name too.

I know it is.

But it is a typical Japanese habit of using random English words as names because they sound "cool n' sexy". But in English version it is just wrong.

Marble sure sounds better than "Kid Summers" which was also kept, but I still think it should not be kept. That simply annoys me.

I know Pitch and The Power of Pika already wrote it, but I must wrote it my way (sorry guys:lol:)
A) Mike Pollock, with all my respect toward him as one of the best 4Kids VA, were nowhere to compare with Rodger Parsons as a narrator in Pokémon.
B) I really doubt any of already recasted roles will be recast again for no good reason. And, as much as you and sone other hate it, bring back old VA's is NOT good reason.
Anyway, is interesting that Mike Pollock now works allongside person he recast and then recast him again. That's say pretty much about his proffesionality. I am not sure if all 4Kids VA's can show the same ammount of proffesionality. Especially those three who tries to cancel Pokémon.

You answered your own question, hon. He's the original narrator. I'm not sure why you think since 4kids VAs are slowing coming back that they'll magically take their old roles back. It is simply NOT going to happen.

This episode wasn't bad. Luxray's voice was a little strange, but I got used to it.

Marble's a cute character as well. I'm wondering though, they never really discussed her exact relation to the Jennies did they? Is she related to them or is she just some random girl who happens to have the same hairstyle?

One thing that also amused me were the guards screaming when they were attacking Ash and his friends. Their screams kept getting higher in pitch.

EDIT: They also mentioned that Marble came from Mahogany Town. Was this in the Japanese version or was this a dub error?

This episode was boring and predictable to me. Probably the last piplup-less one we'll ever see. There were only like 7 pokemon in the episode, and Croagunk & Arcanine were just cameos!
