Review S11 EP28: Cream of the Croagunk Crop!

If Hiroki's name is "Hiracio" (as Kenji-Girl predicted), then I'm comitting public suicide, as I announced before on the Pedia.

Anyway, yay for Maxi's debut and the game place. I like the episode very much! Though the Greggle Festival feels a bit... random.

Woah, this seems like an interesting episode.

Storywise, it reminds me a lot of "Wobba-palooza" from Season 4. XD

So Hiroki (or whatever his dub name is) did he really look... ?

If that's so then I'm confused here. What, was there like two versions the animators created of him?* Some say it could be copyright issue due to his similar appearance to another character from a different anime.

*Looking at that one image on Bulbapedia, his hair still seems to fit on his head, it doesn't look like an edit the dub would've done. You might not be able to tell it was edited if you didn't know what his original hair looked like.

Hamilton, his Croagunk Craig, and the station chief Carny, and Nurse Joy's Croagunk Chrissy.

*makes ickle fingers* Jason...oh god, Jason's back. And David Brimmer as Wake?
Yes/yes?

And yeah, they're not putting gender differences on Croagunk. That last dance scene proves it. All the bandages were on as the same length.

Crasher Waaaaaake! Wow, that's a whole lot bigger than the single statue in the Pokemon Center in the game. Daiyamondo to Paaru. Well, it's even odder to see classic anime guy dubbed. More exposition on the origin of Carnivine. Police guy is also odd. Obligatory Croagunk mecha go! This was a pretty funky ep.

Really random start to the episode.

Why in the world was Wake never completely shirtless during the length of this entire episode? Did the animators not want to show the area where his nipples should be or something? '_'

I like how Dawn's always so critical when it comes to things like this. She echoes the voices of the viewers, ha.

Pokémarriage? XD I guess if pets can be "married" in real life, there's nothing to stop a pretend wedding between Pokémon.

CroaMeowth was hilarious. So was the boxing match.

Look! Japanese culture! *points*

A fade-in To Be Continued... screen? Well, that's different.

Jason Griffith as Hamilton and the chief, Michael Alston Baley/David Brimmer as Wake.

Nine pieces were kept in today's episode:
- The Route 3 music in the beginning
- The music during Wake's story about the Croagunk Festival
- Hillbilly music when the festival started
- Music during the "beauty contest"
- Hillbilly music during the brick-breaking contest
- Battle music during Brock's Croagunk vs. Craig
- The Team Rocket Sinnoh theme
- D/P gym battle music
- More hillbilly music near the end

So Gurekichi is changed to Craig and Guremi is now Chrissy? That's the best change for a Pokemon's name I've seen. I like how simple they are.

Heh, funny episode. XD

I couldn't see the difference between any one of those Croagunk's though, lol.

Anyway, I really liked the rivalry between Brock and Hamilton. XD

And of course, Crasher Wake was hilarious. I loved his lines. Especially at the beginning! XD

His laugh kinda reminded me of Wattson's laugh.

Aww I missed it, I only caught the last 5 minutes of it. I didn't know CN changed their time, which means I have to get up even earlier.

But even caught the last minute, I liked Crasher's voice. But I didn't catch him when he was loud of anything else. But it suits him, but thats all I have to say. I going to wait later to give what I thought, but so happy Crasher is the dub.

I loved the Hilbilly song, and I liked how Big Crasher Wake was. It was a pretty good episode.

WOW, they have really gone over the top today! The whole episode was impressive.:-D

-I can't believe CN moved Pokémon to 9:00 today. I could have missed it entirely!
-I REALLY like the country music they kept today. Surprised they kept it.
-Does Crasher wake NOT carry his pokéballs with him outside the gym? I guess he learned his lesson the HARD way this time.
-D***n Look at all those Croagunk! How many people were there to have that many? Or maybe it's the marsh.
-Even though Hamilton's hair was edited, it still looked natural, I'm like 'WTF Are you sure?' It looked like the animators made a different version of the episode.
-I like how the episode ended. Ash was in his usual antics.

Again, VERY good episode!

Still not allowed to discuss voices here.
Anyways, I'm dying to see how the next episode rolls out. Can't wait to see one of my favorite Pokémon there.

What? They edited Hiroki's hair?

OMG. I thought that since the skin changes in PBR, English versions can't do anything worse with character designs.

But it seems they can...

A picture would be appreciated here.

The animation was pretty crappy in this one =/
It felt like I was watching a slideshow with audio at times.

Here's the other Croagunk trainer in the original:

I did NOT want the one from the original. I know how does he look like in the original.

I wanted a picture from the DUB version! Because I don't watch the dubbed episodes (I'm not from U.S.)

Thanks for good intentions, anyway.

Huh. That's weird that they'd change the hair on a character like that. If it was a dub change, they did a pretty dang good job. Maybe somebody thought the sunglasses looked a bit stupid (they do, actually...).

Stoopid CN caught me by surprise too, I missed the cold opening. Fortunately, I had my TV on while I was in the other room and I heard the theme song kick in. I shoulda known the new Batman cartoon woulda shifted things around.

I liked this episode. We needed a nice comic relief filler after all the drama from the previous few eps. The hillbilly music was hilariously awesome.

Oh, and was that third judge (the train station guy?) supposed to be a parody of another cartoon or something? Because he looked VERY out of place there.

A picture would be appreciated here.

Like I said, the edit looks too neat for something the dub would've done. Those who haven't seen the original might not even notice his hair was edited. It's more like the animators created another version of Hamilton for some reason.

I swear I've seen that hair on another character.
