Review S11 EP40: A Lean Mean Team Rocket Machine!

Uh...Team Rocket says their original motto from the first series...that's kind of important. D:

Obligatory CG bubble scene. TR just joined in the title card read. Holy snap, Jessie's vanity truly knows no bounds. How long has it been since they ran to blast off? Way to help out your friends, Brock. Thank you, Croagunk. o.o What an interest lockpick device. Yay, the dub complies! Double Trouble! XD, nostalgic weakness to Electric? This ep was full of nostalgia and it was awesome.

But they added dialogue (or at least thinking) when there wasn't any in the Japanese version. And that makes me mad.

Original motto and Double Trouble. This episode was a huge nostalgia trip for me, and it was awesome!!

Oh...my...God...

THEY HAD DOUBLE TROUBLE! EPIC WIN!!!

So awesome how they went back to basics. Literally. Original motto. And the mecha wasn't designed to take Electric attacks. Love how they hark back to the original series. And the workout regime was just plain funny. It was strange how James voice seemed kinda off at the beginning, but it sounded better by the end. Probably to just go with the chubby James.

It was good they kept Ash & Co. to a minimum this episode, as that is what they need to do in any Team Rocket episode. What I do love though was Happiny catching the giant container. And Croagunk of course, doing whatever the heck he wants to do to Brock.

Great nostalgia episode. Makes me feel old though, even if I'm just 17.

This episode was clearly for the fans ho have been there since the beginning. Original motto, Double Trouble, classic bot, actually steal Pokemon because that's their mission. Why can't TR be like this every episode anymore?

Dawn should probably think of adding stamina training to Pipulp's regimen. Great appeals are good but Pipulp needs to be able to stay standing afterward. Don't blame yourself, Dawn, just train smarter.

And here I was expecting an entire episode of Team Rocket ridding themselves of their magically gained pounds. Instead, we get badassery and nostalgia run wild. Either scenario is win.

TR was awesome. I loved their "stealth" costumes. And especially all the Pokémon wearing the masks too. Poor Carnivine. XD

When the motto began I wondered for a moment "What does she mean, 'blast from the past'?" And then they dove right into it and I got all excited. :p Oh, how I miss the original motto.

Losing because of the electricty weakness was absolutely brilliant, heh.

Haha, loved Meowth's "when you can't see anything south of the border" line.

Ah, it's so wonderful to have another Team Rocket episode after so long. Consider me a pleased fanboy.

First thought: Let me get this straight, Team Rocket chimes in for the title, but Ash alone says their name?

Second thought: What is the deal with James? Why does he sound bloated?

Third thought: Ooooohhhhhh.... that is why. *sheesh*

Fourth thought: The exercise regimen was smile worthy. Meowth apparently has as much stamina as Piplup.

Fifth thought: The ONLY good motto returneth! YYYYYAAAAAAYYYYYYY!

Sixth thought: O_O O ... M ... G! DOUBLE TROUBLE! Let's cheer, get up and dance! Made me smile they kept to the chorus so we wouldn't hear original J&J.

Seventh thought: Meowth's expression when he realizes Pikachu will toast them ... priceless.

P. S. Thought: Since when does James' rose have a key mechanism? Does he get his flowers from the same florist as Domino? :D

Personally, I'm in full agreement with Mitch. This episode was horrible. Pokemon USA ruined it, in my opinion.

The only good thing about this episode, was that they played Double Trouble (well, the only part of the song they were allowed to play, anyway). It was great to hear that song in the anime again!! ^^

Because, if they did, it wouldn't really be special anymore.

We've noticed that Team Rocket has expanded from their original roles as Pokémon theives to comic relief, and lately, Jessie's contest carrier. It's nice to see them go back to their roots once in a while.

I'll comment more on the episode when I get the chance to see it.

Might I ask how?

I think you know by now.

Anyway, I loved it. Old School Motto FTW, Team Rocket Forever was awesome, chubby Wobbuffet was pretty cool, Double Trouble was cool (PUSA was fucked either way, if they had original VA vocals people would have bitched, if they used their own, people would have bitched, so they just had the chorus), and I loved the old school TR mecha.

I actually thought this episode wasn't so bad. It had so much references from the past which really made the episode for me. And Team Rocket almost gotten away with it too with the crime for once. Piplup ruins it all, XD.

THEY PLAYED DOUBLE TROUBLE!! EPIC WIN!!!!

I was pinching myself when I heard that. I thought I was in a dream. I was half asleep til I heard that.

Also return the basics, robot not electrical proof.

Actually, I thought PUSA did pretty well. TR's lines were just plain funny. I really don't know what there was to hate..

Jessie: "This hill must be angling straight up...*camera zoom out*"

and later, James: "I don't want to be chunky!"

As far as BGM, PUSA kept silence where needed, as they have been doing. They also used a good amout of original BGM, plus their own BGM which isn't half bad. They even used Team Rocket Forever! This is the first insert song in how long? That's pretty awesome...

I was a bit confused at the beginning, wondering why TR's character models and voices seemed a bit off, and then it hit me that they were getting fat! Fat-Ass Team Rocket is pretty damn hilarious, and ya gotta love the good ol' cartoon convention of gaining and losing 200 pounds in the space of a day. I half expected them to be using some kind of Pokemon themed Wii Fit while they were working out.

Though I figure they'll be back to their good-ol' comic relief selves by the next episode, it was nice to see the somewhat more competent side of TR again. Not to mention that the music in the second half was a total nostalgia trip back to the Indigo league days.

The music, the animation, the dialouge... almost everything was great in this episode. The only thing that was rather lacking was the Piplup sub-plot, but hey, ya gotta have the twerps doing SOMETHING. ;)
