Nothing much to say other than Byron makes his debut here.

(oh, and we get chibi Roark too :p)

...Why did they make Byron sound so evil? Actually, Rampardos is better. We all know it, right? Oooh, Brock burns his own dad. And of course, we have to check Rampardos because we have the memory of a goldfish. TR, why didn't you leave through the hole YOU ALREADY DUG. Pika is denied finishing blow for a while...and then gets it anyway. :p Sunkern...is ancient? o.o Nice ep with the random Byron reactions.

I'm just pissed that they took out the BGM during that scene.
4Kids would have kept it.

WELL SOMEBODY HAS NO INDOOR VOICE!

Ehem. Chibi!Hyouta is adorable. This is a very funny episode. I love how obsessed Tougan is with the holes Team Rocket digs.

Woo, Brock disses his dad again....:uhoh:

I'm enjoying this. I want Roark to win, of course.

And our favorite Anti-heroes make their appearance! Go TR!

HEEEEE! Team Rocket's hole-digging skills are appreciated!

Man, Byron makes Professor Elm look focused.

Heh...as the "conflicting friends/family members join forces to battle a common threat" plot ticks regularly along like a like a well-made clock, I begin to mentally compare Pokemon episodes to kabuki theatre, and its centuries-old tradition of stylized drama. I wonder if repetitive storylines answer some deep need in our psyches for the enactment of ritual. Certainly there is something in repetition that appeals to us, as children often crave the same fairy tale, told the exact same way, time and again; I recall how, when I was very young, they used to show The Wizard of Oz on television once a year, and how much I anticipated the event when the family would gather together, consume the ritual food (Jiffy-Pop), and relax into a story I knew by heart but never got old. Perhaps this ritual quality is why Pokemon's recycled plots don't bother me as much as they do some fans....

Ooooo! Leettle Roark! Awwwwwwwwww! :kawaii:

WELL SOMEBODY HAS NO INDOOR VOICE!

Dan Green, the most over used voice actor in the universe. I'm not looking to discuss why I feel this way about him so don't bother asking. That would get into VA discussion.

It's funny though, Byron's Japanese Seiyuu is also Franky in One Piece. I always thought Dan Green would have done Franky's voice is 4kids still had One Piece.

As for the episode itself...not bad...I guess.

I wasn't all that thrilled with this episode. I seemed to be one of the few didn't that didn't think it was really good when it first aired, and I liked it even less now. All that shouting got on my nerves really fast.

On the positive side I did enjoy Ash and company being out of the limelight for once and have the show focus on someone else for a change. I also really loved that Brock recalled his dad because I think that's what we all were thinking.

And a so-so episode wouldn't be complete without Team Rocket insulting each other. At least they get some good screentime next week.

The voice for Bryon made me laugh. In a bad way though, I thought it was pretty pathetic D:

Anyway, besides that, the episode was nice. Im glad we got some backstory on these two.

And go Brock! Dissing his dad!

*couch*Norman*couch*

Anyway I love that PUSA kept the "I love Trideps"

I thought it sounded like the construction foreman from the stone-cutting Bibarel episode.

But yeah, I found Byron's voice odd at first, but then it grew on me.

EDIT: "I LOVE BASTIODON" has to have some meme potiential.

Expect some kind of explicit love affair.

"I love Bastidion!" isn't as awesome as "I love this hole!~" Classic, Dan, classic.

This also isn't the first time TR's been considered "not evil" because of something they did. "What? There's no way someone who dug a hole like this can be evil!" ...I just wish I could remember what the-- ohhhhh, grass-types. Thar we go. Duh.

I love how Brock gets scowly thinking of the dead-beat dad syndrome. 8D

Fossil enthusiasm makes me head-desk.

Am I the only one who thinks it was irresponsible of Roark to make Rampardos continue to battle after it collapsed from Rock Head against the mech? D8

And his title in Oreburgh is "chief of Ancient Pokémon Excavation" operations, in case anyone didn't catch it.

I actually liked this episode. I liked how we get to see some family dyamic. I wasn't bother much with the BGM, and the story but I thought I was the only one at first til I saw this post.

WELL SOMEBODY HAS NO INDOOR VOICE!

Yes, I agree totally about Byron, I thought I was imagining that at first. But it did give a laugh and too. But some his lines gave me a laugh, especially it took like few minutes to realize his fossil collection was missing.

And one line when he mentioned hole digger:
I thought he said "hoe digger" something different, but I had to turn on the captions and made sure I didn't hear something different, but the shouting voice kinda made me hear that. Just me, and sorry if I offended anyone.

But besides everything else. I enjoyed it, better than last week's episode. And Rorak as a kid was so ubber cute. I would love to hug him.

That's it, I'm officially in love with Roark. Must be the flashing spectacles. There's no other explanation. I want to see what he looks like without them. And his helmet.

I'm a fan of the "I LOVE BASTIODON!" as well! A big burly man like Byron expressing his warm fuzzy love for his Pokemon every time he brings it out... Warms the heart, it does. XD

Byron was hilarious, even though his voice got on my nerves after a while. But this episode was entertaining. I thought it was hysterical how much Byron loved the hole Team Rocket dug, and the interactions and backstory between Roark and Byron were very interesting. And Roark as a little kid was so cute. :]

Ah Dan Green, I loved hearing him as Byron. HE CAN YELL LIKE NO ONE'S BUSINESS!
