The last part of TG's iron island saga.

Those Geodude sure looked static.

Surprised Ash's arms didn't get broken by that Bone Club.

Wow Ash, you have problems using Thunderbolt. You used it so many times against other poor people(coughTRcough).

Cyrus sounds a bit...different.

Mars doesn't seem to be fazed by the whole OMG LUCARIO craze.

Wow Riley's aura must be pretty strong.

I forgot Sudowoodo existed.

Well, Cyrus seems to have disdain for Ash.

Cyrus must be getting sick of Ash and friends.

omg, they actually said bombs.

That was convincing crying James.

I thought James said crappy...

Not even Ash would use Thunderbolt on someone obviously in debilitating agony...

(TR usually suffers from no more than aches and pains. If they were in Lucario's shape, Ash would try to help them, I'm certain. And yes, I'm a big TR fan. ;-))

Re: 'Saving The World from Ruins' review thread.

I thought it was cool, though a much simpler solution would have been to use the recently woken steel pokemon to deal with all the bombs. Surely steel pokemon could deal with that. It would have been much more efficient.

edit: Ash: "Yep, the world, maybe the universe, is about to take a nose dive, but the most important thing in my life is beating a gym!"

Good ol' Ash! *rolls eyes*

Re: 'Saving The World from Ruins' review thread.

Wow, more smashing pokeballs. TG certainly plays for keeps. Of course the aura saves the day, but for once Ash has nothing to do with it. Sure, the league is far more important than saving the world. Pretty good ep.

Re: 'Saving The World from Ruins' review thread.

That must have been a pretty big meteor striking the Earth like that...

See Scott, they won't be showing Gaalactic for qwuite some while. Not until they're backa t Mount Coronet.

Overall, this was a good episode with good animation.

Re: 'Saving The World from Ruins' review thread.

As every Ginga Dan episode is, this one was great as well.
We got more Mars treatness. And we also got to see Akagi, Saturn ..and very small cameos of Pluto and Jupiter!

But did anyone else think Saturn sounded hilarious when he said "roger"? I could have sworn his voice got changed. I was like WTF >> .lol.

But yeah. I love how the kept the Japanese music in, and most of the dialogue was pretty much the same as the original. I just wish they kept Akagi's "BLOW THEM UP." quote, aha. :p

Re: 'Saving The World from Ruins' review thread.

For all of those missed the episode, or didn't want to wake up to watch it, the episode will air again today around 1:20 PM EST, so adjust to your time zone.

Re: 'Saving The World from Ruins' review thread.

Bye, Barry. :[

Anyway, pretty good episode. It's always great to see Barry and Team Galactic, especially Mars. :] They really made this episode good, better than it would have been if they were absent. But yeah, I liked it better than last week's episode.

Re: 'Saving The World from Ruins' review thread.

And, once more, Shiny's Running Comments! Take it away, Shiny A.!

Argh! Lucario pwnd Riley - his trainer! Whoa, Ash taking that bone club....Lucario must have "pulled its punch" somewhat. Or maybe Ash instinctively used Aura somehow...except it didn't glow, so probably not...

I don't know why, but Ash and Brock restraining Lucario like that makes me all warm and glowy inside. :)

Hey, Rowan. Hey, older lady relative of Cynthia whose name I forget.

Hey, Reggie. Nice to see ya. I've got to see that episode of yours sometime...

Yeah, let the waddling penguin jump over the chasm....

Barry caught Piplup! Dawn found Barry! Dawn wins! (whoops)

Yay, Dawn handling it herself!

I'm glad Dawn is clear that TR is included in the rescue. I hate it when the writers have them be overlooked. (I'm so forgiving to this show. Notice I assign really annoying faults to the writers, not the characters?... Whazzat? Double standard...? Only in very good cause! at self)

Ack, poor Dawn...Hey, Team Rocket, go easy on her, I don't see YOU shrugging off a Steelix attack. Darn, so much for handling it herself...granted, Steelix is kind of a big veto vote.

Heh! Landed on Barry! Oh, yeah, a pretty girl in a short dress lands on you in a full-contact moment, and you're going to FINE her...? Barry, you're loveable, but you ARE a genuine dork. :-D

Aaaaannnnd....Riley is out of the action. It's up to Brock and Ash. Go, boys! I'm kinda getting into their brother-act hero-moments.

Yay! Staravia sees some action!

Heh. I love it when Brock gets all martial, though I'm glad it's not frequent, I love his gender-role-defying personality – but I like that they let him be tough when he really needs to. [I think Pokemon may be contributing to society long-term by giving a impressionable tots a role model for a compassionate, caring, yet ultimately quite manly male...even his pervy girl-obsession is, beneath the surface, sweet and chivalrous in nature. Even if only three or four of the millions of kids watching Pokemon each year unconsciously absorb this image and turn into nurturing men, or women who can appreciate them, the world will be a richer place for it. Not bad for a half-hour infomercial, nyet?]

Thunderbolt, bane of infernal devices everywhere!

I never thought I'd say this, but...Yay! Pikachu got some action! (He's seemed a little passive lately.)

I love Mars's voice. Perky evil is sooooo entertaining!

Dang, Mars, oversharing much? Way to give away the ultimate goal of Galactic....perhaps in the original language version it was more abiguous...

Poor Chimchar, and yeah, that WAS a good idea, with a logical obstacle interfering. Good writin' in this one, I must say...nicely plotted. (I hate the Bugs-Bunny-style-swelling-hands, though. That's okay in comic relief moments, but this is a suspenseful action moment! Geez, animators!)

Go Carnivine! James's tears to the rescue! (hey, at least this show is consistant about tears having special qualities of some sort. I think the only time they didn't work was in the 4th movie.)

Ash encouraging Carnivine...Yay!

EEEEE! Brock healing Meowth! I LOVE THIS EPISODE!

(Did I mention I have a real fetish for Twerp/Rocket compassion and cooperation...? Hee)

Hee, James hugging Barry...Aww, Jessie and Meowth, that's sweet...

Whoa...Aura boom-shield? Pretty darn clever and impressive.

Aw, Jessie and Meowth letting James skive off in gratitude!

Plot exposition, plot exposition...I'll listen to it later, when I'm not writing this review.

Aw, Barry and Ash shaking hands! And yay, Barry sees Paul as an opponent now, not quite as much of an idol. Although I still ache for Barry when he realizes Paul's true colors as an uncaring d*ck.

Mars taking responsibility, very respectful...Cyrus is a surprisingly forgiving boss. I approve - I hate the "you failed me, now you must die" crap kind of boss.

Well! That was REALLY good! I guess they CAN do two-parters right on this show!

Re: 'Saving The World from Ruins' review thread.

I'm actually happy that the dub kept in the "BLOW EVERYONE UP" thing. And they're actually "bombs" as opposed to "Obliterating machines"

These two episodes are by far my favorite of the season... And there was a lot of kept music too, which makes things better too.

I LOVE Mars's voice alsghlasjkfljs.
She was great in the original, but I actually think I love her more in the dub, actually. xd

So much love for these two episodes.
Jun/Barry always makes things more interesting.

Re: 'Saving The World from Ruins' review thread.

Wow Ash, you have problems using Thunderbolt. You used it so many times against other poor people(coughTRcough).
I was more WTFing that Pikachu actually /needs/ Ash's permission to make an attack (when it's perfectly capable, otherwise, to impliment them on its own). Pikachu was obviously agreeing with what Riley was demanding; you think it would have taken emergency action without Ash's consent. -_- Puh-lease. Next time electricity is the medicine of the hour and Ash is hesitant, Pikachu? SHOCK IT!

...Though what the thunderbolt actually /did/ to Lucario remains its own mystery. It really did...oh, nothing! to alleviate the issue at hand, if the only result was for Lucario to suddenly run off (for very little-to-no explainable reason except at the writers' discrection that it would happen so).

I missed last week's episode. So feeling-slightly-incompetent!Riley is pretty mind-blowing right now (he didn't say so much in words, but the body language the animators gave him made it clear)...*lil squee for Diraison's return, yay~*

The episode was competent, however (save for Ash's block of Bone Rush; GTFO, that made me gag a little). And kinda eeeee for reasons I don't think anyone wants to hear. Yeah?

Re: 'Saving The World from Ruins' review thread.

They changed the epic Pokemon Heroes music at the end when they save the island. -_-

EDIT: They only played the slower part of the song (where Latios says adios to Latias).

The Pokemon Dub in a nutshell. Removes the original music and therefore ruins epic scenes like that one, which is why I only watch the jap. version.

Re: 'Saving The World from Ruins' review thread.

Must you leave is again Berry? I don't even know when we'll see you again... :-(

And they're actually "bombs" as opposed to "Obliterating machines"

Or blaster balls...

You mean... Ash and Brock get to do something together?! And actually feel like they have a close friendship for once? What a concept.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Nyasu actually say thanks to Takeshi? (Though I still laughed at Meowth's line.)

Jessie: Oh no! we're all gonna die! Better return my Pokemon.
James: I'll leave mine out and keep them in danger!

I'm willing to let all that pass just so Carnivine can finally learn a new attack. I just couldn't take Bite and Bullet Seed anymore.

That "Bye bye" wasn't as cool in the dub. Mars didn't need that extra sentence.

I wanna hug Meowth like that... lucky Jessie.

The music issue has already been said, but it was especially bothersome at the very end. I thought some silence was good PCI?

Despite this post, I really did like this episode a lot. And it was nearly as explosive as I said it'd be last week. :p My favorite part was all this near death stuff. We really never get enough of that in this show.

Gee, you don't think we'd get more of that anytime soon would we? Nah. That's too good to be true...

Re: 'Saving The World from Ruins' review thread.

One can understand keeping Carnivine out. But seriously James, what's Mime.Jr going to do for you? Mimic you dying....?

I hope Carnivine uses Vine Whip a lot more now...

Re: 'Saving The World from Ruins' review thread.

Agree 100% with Pikachu not needing Ash's permission to shock Lucario. And how anti-climatic it was for Lucario to just... run off...

Cool to see some recurring characters again. Good thing they're carrying over the "TG's actions are noticed by all of Sinnoh" thing they got going on in DPPt.

Oh, that Team Galactic and their love of bombs in every media they appear in. <3

Okay, so we had the drama of James breaking into tears, followed by Carnivine glowing green with an exciting new attack...! Which turns out to be... Vine Whip? Seriously? :p

Riley's certainly the most BA Aura Guardian we've seen so far, huh? He had some hardcore superhero stuff what with containing the explosion. Didn't he say something about his being in training? Wonder what the full powers of a master Aura Guardian could be.

Whoa, whoa, what's all this with Iron Island being a meteor? Is this the first time this information's been put forth, or did I miss or forget something? And hmm... the episode after this features Deoxys, right? Any connection there? I'm guessing not, sinc everyone seems to hate that episode.

Re: 'Saving The World from Ruins' review thread.

I completely forgot to mention Charon's cameo. That's the thing about this episode, there's so much awesomeness you can't remember it all.

But seriously James, what's Mime.Jr going to do for you? Mimic you dying....?

If I didn't already have a new sig, that'd be it.

I hope Carnivine uses Vine Whip a lot more now...

Surprisingly, I believe it does.

Re: 'Saving The World from Ruins' review thread.

Well, yeah, but Pikachu usually doesn't go directly against Ash's wants in a serious situation. Also, Pikachu probably realized it would have to shock Ash and Brock as well...I can see it wanting the go-ahead for that.

...Though what the thunderbolt actually /did/ to Lucario remains its own mystery. It really did...oh, nothing! to alleviate the issue at hand, if the only result was for Lucario to suddenly run off (for very little-to-no explainable reason except at the writers' discrection that it would happen so).

Nah! Though the writing didn't make it clear enough at all, after a moment's reflection I realized the thunderbolt cleared Lucario's mind enough that it knew what was the REAL cause of its pain, and it went right after that, rather than lashing out randomly at whoever was nearest. But yeah, in this case, a little Basil-Exposition-type-action would not have come amiss. (For once!)

I missed last week's episode. So feeling-slightly-incompetent!Riley is pretty mind-blowing right now (he didn't say so much in words, but the body language the animators gave him made it clear)

Now that you mention it, you're right. But yeah, although they saved the island, they didn't stop TG from achieving MOST of its goal, nor did they apprehend them or get that key-thingie. Nice touch, animators.

The episode was competent, however (save for Ash's block of Bone Rush; GTFO, that made me gag a little).

Like I said, Lucario must've pulled its punch a bit...perhaps because Ash is visibly younger than Riley: holding back when children are involved is sort of a universal instinctive response.

Yeah, okay, it's a fanwank. But it's a psychologically feasible fanwank, right...? :embarass:

One can understand keeping Carnivine out. But seriously James, what's Mime.Jr going to do for you? Mimic you dying....?

Ah, just think of it this way: James is Linus, and Mime Jr. is his blanket. :p

I would say Aaron would qualify as a master Aura Guardian but even he couldn't do as much as Riley did. Aura seriously kinda became a super power here.:p
