Um, why hasn't this thread popped up yet? It should have quite some time ago.

I guess this episode was so boring everyone decided to sleep in? Well, it really was rather dull. We had some great Dawn/Mamoswine scenes, and I loved how she mistook it for a Ursuring (I was actually laughing out loud at that) but otherwise this was pretty dull. Not even Team Rocket were amusing (except a little at the end when James kept changing the number).

I really wish I knew why this show is so obsessed with dying trees. Is some producer a big environmentalist or something?

The first episode I'm up to watch in a long time and I still didn't see it all.

Despite Mamoswine getting a new attack, most people will agree this is an episode that can be largely forgotten.

While I was watching this, I was reminded of another giant tree that gives life to an entire forest from a book I know. I was also apathetic because
we know Mamoswine loses that Contest.
This was far too much ceremony to go through just for one move.

I woke up at 7:25 AM and decided to sleep in, knowing that I missed the majority of the episode anyway.
There are some key facts I would like to point out.
- COTD is named Verona.
- Glad they kept in the majority of the original BGM (at this point I realized that they kept using two of the same soundtracks three times each during this episode).
- When Tangrowth and the other pokemon used Growth on the tree countless times, it did absolutely nothing. Only when Verona points out the spot on the tree where the nutrients are stored, the tree just magically turns back to normal after only one use of Growth there.

Watching that Ursaring in motion made me think "Danger! Danger Will Robinson!"

It's a crying shame that a Pokémon as awesome as Tangrowth has such a sub-par debut episode.

On the bright side, the Dawn/Mamoswine interaction was good, and Meowth's Boss Fantasy was pretty funny.

This is pretty much the same as to what a lot of fillers in the past were like pre-DP.

Mamoswine was nice, but that's about it. Sadly it feels as if the writers have never used Mamoswine to its full potential, even in Japan.

I'm really getting worried that Dawn's Mamoswine is never going to get the battle screentime it deserves.

The Dawn/Mamoswine parts of the episode were more interesting than the whole tree storyline. I like how Mamoswine's sort of like Charizard, but not quite, as it wants to act all tough - but is really a big softie on the inside that likes pretty contest moves.

I also liked it how Tangrowth's dub voice had the "Tang, tang, tang" thing similar to "Jum, jum, jum" in the original.

I like the part where Dawn finds what she thinks is Mamoswine and says it can't hide that caboose...:p...then it turns out to be Ursaring instead.

The ep was decent overall. The Dawn/Mamoswine interactions were easily the best part of the ep imo. Dawn screaming in a high-pitched voice while running from Ursaring was pretty funny, as was the Boss fantasy.

Oh, almost forgot, TR was actually pretty funny here, which is rare to see nowadays.

Am I the only one who liked this episode? The main draw for me was the interactions between Mamoswine and Dawn, as well as Pikachu and Piplup trying to be supportive.

Well, I've finially had the chance to watch this one online, and I have to say I actually liked it too. The Dawn/Mamoswine interaction was great. Mamoswine is becoming an interesting member of Dawns team, and I didn't even like him in past episodes. I'm looking forward to seeing him in a contest soon, should be a good episode.

Fairly decent episode. Mamoswine fumbling and getting ice chunks in its nostrils, chasing Pikachu and Piplup, and Dawn tapping an Ursaring was pretty funny. Tangrowth's dub voice was fairly catchy. I won't write about this one, I'll probably wait until DP138 before I write a fresh synopsis.

It was a good episode. In fact the TR bit at the end actually made me laugh, which is rare. I kinda felt bad for Mamoswine, being ridiculed while it was practicing. It was also funny when the smaller grass Pokemon failed at draining Mamoswine's power.

I think the point was that up until that point in the episode, the pokemon had simply been using Growth on random areas on the tree. At the end, however, they used---and focused---it on the spot that actually *needed* to be healed(at Verona's direction, in this case).

I don't think anyone's mentioned this yet, but this episode had a rather uncommon feature: it included a Boss fantasy that actually kinda made sense and wasn't completely ridiculous. :p

You mean the one when Tangrowth would use Absorb to make Giovanni fall asleep more easily?

That would be the only one yeah. At least it makes more sense than usual.
