Cropped again?! >.>

Anyway Ash is a dumbass aboiut love....

Poor Piplup...cant catch a break

Re: "Three Sides to Every Story" Review thread.

Who's to blame for the stretching resolution? Anyone know?

Also, Lum Berry? More like Tennis Ball!

Re: "Three Sides to Every Story" Review thread.

I really liked this episode. It managed to put Piplup in the spotlight and actually make me feel bad for it rather than annoyed.

It felt like there was a lot of dub music. Guess they needed to make up for last week.

I missed a few minutes in the middle of the episode, but I'm assuming the dub kept the Training Daze reference. You gotta love any reference to that episode. :-D

lol Jessie. That whole Lum berry thing is like one step forward, two steps back.

It was weird how the dub didn't even mention Piplup's gender (unless they did during the few minutes I missed in the middle) when originally Brock was talking about how a man needs to tough things out at the very end of the episode.

The very end was really weird. Dawn seemed almost offended that her mom was chosen as chairperson. o_O

Re: "Three Sides to Every Story" Review thread.

Run Dawn! HG/SS is coming! Piplup can't even win in its dreams. Speaking of not being able to win, even again something that's supposed to be strong against it, Piplup goes down very easily. You know, at first, I was on Piplup's side, as he is a gentleman, as Elekid picks on her. (Animosity, it must be love!) Oh Ash, you're just as dense as you always were on this sort of thing. There you have it, Jessie likes causing pain. Why you mom? Oh, I dunno, may because she's a former contest champ? Twinleaf arc next, taking up most of January. Strangely enough, this ep is good.

It still doesn't make sense why they've chosen Elekid... It's not even in the same breeding group.

Have you ever had one of your parents be in charge of something like this and been scared of the potential embarassment stemming from it?

Dawn was a bit harsh on Ash, he's a bit dim on the whole love thing so what? Even if he got it, not like Misty or Dawn would do any thing. Zomygosh Mistys not even in this episode, my bad. Yah Pipulp, go to Brock for advice about love, who rarley scores on dates with girls >>
Over all, one of my least favorite episodes.

LOL! That part is so true.

Ash. What a maroon! What an im-bul-sel! For as many accidents and little fights the Pokemon were having, just getting to witness some of the stupidity of the humans is enough to make me chuckle x10 more. Score +1 for Ash, Jessie, and Brock.

EDIT: Although, Piplup's tears... so delicious! Mwuahaha!

As well as Elekid being a baby pokemon/unable to breed.
I wouldn't question so much.

My version is in the proper aspect ratio, so I was sure CN had aired today's Pokemon episode in widescreen. That's weird..
But hey, it's just like gambling. You never know the outcome! Or in Shakespeare's phrase: "To be cropped or not to be cropped- that's the question" :D

Anyways, a really entertaining episode. What I had considered a "filler" before, once again turned out to be pretty amusing and profound.
I don't know where to start:
First of all, you can't help liking Ash's clueless expression when it comes to love. Together with his even more clueless comments, that was just priceless (btw. that's what I call a comic relief; not a Pokemon acting goofily)

I don't know why, but I also liked the whole setting with the orchard and the friendly girl and so on. Watching Pokemon for 12 years now, I'm somehow surprised that so many people our heroes have come across so far are extremely hospitable. But today's CoD sure was unique with regard to hospitality : After a short introduction she willingly offered them to spend the night at her place. Wow! I guess people in the Pokemon world sure trust each other. If only this were the case in our world too... :(

Well, you could actually write much about the rivalry between Piplup and Elekid, but I want ot limit myself to the best scenes:
- Piplup failing to build a bridge. That moment when he sadly and jealously looked up to Marill and Elekid somehow moved me.
- That short elbow-fight...just like in real-life situations. Great!
- Piplup being confronted with the truth at the end of the episode. His expressions were hilarious. Add Brock's advice, especially in light of the fact that Brock himself constantly fails to impress women, and you get a perfect conclusion of a decent and funny episode!

However, as a Pokemon fan who primarily focuses on training, battling and battling strategies when watching Pokemon, I was a little bit disappointed to see how easily Piplup was defeated. Sure, he was at a disadvantage, but are we still supposed to believe that type disadvantage is that much of a problem? :(
Given the circumstances (Marill watching while the the rivals were fighting), it would have been wise to use Bide to endure the Electric attacks and then surprise and possibly OHKO Elekid. This would certainly have looked heroic and Piplup would have won Marill's heart in no time!
Mindlessly using water attacks without preventing Elekid from launching counter-attacks,however, was pretty much a greenhorn mistake.
So from a tactical point of view today's episode could have been better, but well, I guess it was meant to focus on other aspects.

All in all, an entertaining episode with the emphasis on humor

Hmm.... your a smart one.

Re: "Three Sides to Every Story" Review thread.

Wait the States are on 137 already? Damn that's only 20 episodes away from Japan. Just some marathons and they would be neck and neck.

Re: "Three Sides to Every Story" Review thread.

This was a cute episode. The animation was great and the plot decent. I lol'ed every time Ash made one of his "I'm clueless about love" comments. Good to see Piplup not be annoying for once.

Me too. It's great to know that Ash still fails at love lessons. And the little confrontations between Piplup and Elekid made things even more hysterical!

Re: "Three Sides to Every Story" Review thread.

Poor Piplup :(, he was so adorable in this episode! I love it when an episode focuses on just pokemon interacting with one another.

Re: "Three Sides to Every Story" Review thread.

It was a okay episode, but I found myself too tired to laugh much....poor Piplup, being abandoned by the women he loved for the egotistical jerk....NOT AT ALL LIKE WHAT I'VE FACED IN THE PAST! REALLY!:bawling:

-pats back- I feel your pain. Just let it all out.

Re: "Three Sides to Every Story" Review thread.

lol, it was only a short scene but it completely took me by surprise:

cooking.jpg

Who would have thought that the Pokemon world is so traditional that women still have to do the cooking while men (or at least Ash) are just sitting around waiting for dinner  :sweatlol:

Were you watching it on an HDTV?
According to the rules I mustn't tell you how I watched it, otherwise you would probably ban me.
