Well...yeah...

Seems like I'm the only person on this forum who can wake up early.

ANYWAY! To me this was a boring episode but my opinion doesn't matter.

Discuss.

BTW It's funny Pokemon was cropped but Yu-Gi-oh! wasn't....

Actually Yoshi, I was up waay early this morning, though for different reasons not 'mon-related.

Tbh, the ep itself's highlight was James' Oak disguise. ... I really didn't care for much else, not even the Finding Oak sub-plot. Really, I just didn't find this ep all that interestin'.

It was an interesting episode. But it really didn't do much. James was the highlight of this episode. I loved how he was trying to escape the lecture, made me chuckle.

Imposter Professor Oak!!! Anyway, not much did happen here, although seeing Professor Oak is always pretty cool. It was kinda funny to see James try to fake a speech too.

Haven't we already seen this episode?

...

Oh, yeah, we have. Back in Johto. It was called "Will the Real Oak Please Stand Up?" The writers are cribbing from themselves yet again.

So the whole point of this ep is to show little kiddies an ep they probably could catch on Youtube anyway? I'd reckon we'd get a remake of that ep where Brock appeared to be a Ninetales'- No, a Mismagius' master.

Of course we get the James Oak disguise again. Is it just me, or is Oak acting strangely dumb here? Hey, everyone, remember Politoed? And Quagsires? (you get the point) Haven't you people learned that Piplup couldn't lead the clouds to the sky? And a reference to Croagunks being from the Great Marsh. (in game at least) Did the anime just have wa-wa music? *dies a little inside* Oak Rocket motto. I would say something about Brock's Ludicolo, but that would break the pattern. Ah, a Tyranitar, that's more like it. This episode is lacking. Oh well, maybe the next one will be more entertaining.

Like everyone else, I thought this episode was pretty dull. James was kinda amusing, and Piplup abuse is always good, but other than that I was pretty bored.

Thankfully, things pick up next week.

While I do agree that this episode was dull, it's nice seeing Professor Oak again and for Croagunk to show some personality outside stabbing Brock.
All I got to say is that Oak is amazing, being able to communicate with pokemon and have them trust/love him back in only a few seconds.

It was a nice lead-in to the Twinleaf Festival. Granted, it seemed like a 10-11 minute plot stretched waaay out over the entire episode. It had the potential to be something more creative -- they could've taken it in a radical direction if the wanted to. But alas, at the end of it all, what the episode really got me in the mood for was to watch the original Imposter Oak eppy.

Didn't this episode already happen before?

I liked Team Rocket being a source of real conflict rather than just the people who fly in at the last minute to steal something. I didn't like every last Pokémon being looked up on a Pokédex, even if it's a Pokémon Brock had not too long ago. Also, connecting your heart? Really, Professor Oak?

Admittedly, it was nothing out of the ordinary, but it was alright. After last week's episode this one was the second standard episode in a row, but well, we can't have everything and I also guess that we've become a little bit too spoiled with all those great Sinnoh episodes. Every now and then there maybe have to be some rather ordinary episodes which don't exactly knock your socks off.

Anyways, what I liked best today was the connect-with-a-Pokemon's-heart motif. Apart from the remaining plot which was rather mundane, that was really a highly profound moment and it once again reminded me of...well, who could it be? - Of course, it reminded me of Cynthia :crush: and her "Poke-philosophy" and that was just amazing!
/me is wallowing in memories :awww: :awww:

What I didn't like at all, however, was the illogical and thus pretty annoying fact that a little kid (probably much younger than Ash) actually had a Tyranitar.
I mean, COME ON!!! I had to look twice because couldn't believe that the writers actually had the cheek to give such an epic, powerful Pokemon to a standard, ordinary kid...Pokemon are supposed to be valuable and especially those fully evolved Pokemon require years of training and experience, something that little rug rat didn't have for sure!
Writers, how dare you "waste" such a great Pokemon by giving it to a random cookie-cutter kid who probably isn't even a trainer....:complain:
And that I'm right is proven by the fact that the greenhorn didn't even know what was wrong with Tyranitar and how to handle it. What a shameful belittling of this awesome Pokemon!
But there was yet another thing related to Tyranitar which struck me as pretty unnecessary: How in the world can a Rock-type Pokemon be hurt by a little (and it sure was little in that close-up) thorn?? Sorry, but that was just downright ridiculous.

Apart from those two points of criticism, it was a pretty decent episode.
6.5 out of 10 points

It was like I already have seen this episode before. I was getting a dejvu vibe from this oneXD

This episode was pretty bad.

I'm really mad they replaced my favorite song in the anime with the crappy dub music even though it was kind of unfitting.

So the whole point of this ep is to show little kiddies an ep they probably could catch on Youtube anyway?

It's not like that's a site for kids to legally watch Pokemon anyway, let alone an episode that aired 300+ episodes ago in an arc that has little relevance to the Sinnoh arc...

I'm not a fan of rehashing episodes, but Pokemon has 600+ episodes. I can't really blame them for rehashing episodes that aired so long ago.

Hmm... I haven't been on here in a while and now all of a sudden it seems to be all new people posting!

Anyhow- I LOVED the music in this episode. It was mostly all dub BGM but I thought was composed, used, and mixed very nicely. That last jingle at the very end was really good...and also the jingle at the beginning when Dawn's mother starts talking.

I actually like that we got to see another side of Prof. Oak in this episode. It was somewhat odd though, almost seemed like he had learned Anabel's ability.
Since this is probably the only time he'll appear in-person in Sinnoh though, it would have been nice if he had more screen time. It seemed like most of the episode was spent in search of him.
