My first review thread!! A review thread still hasn't come up yet??

Anyways, this was a pretty good episode, considering the end of the festival and battle...

Barry's singing was pretty odd, but was slightly decent. The song itself was good.

Great episode: 9.5/10

By the way, was this episode cropped in Standard Definition

Surprised as well. I would've made one, but...

The ep was in HD for all I knew, considerin' how my TV, despite its size, still had the credits and such cut off on the side.

Palmer was cool, Grotle screwed the rules, TR were cool bros... That's about it, though it's a turn away from those two other eps I've seen.

Lol at Dawn talking like Barry. So the whole Energy Ball consumption thing was an accident. Very good battle. Ash is getting good at thinking things through. And of course Barry waits for no one. Good ep. Next is perhaps the craziest and most awesome thing ever, I can't wait.

I'm surprised, they used lots of original BGM. And I also had to admit, Johanna's screaming was real funny.

I wonder how Octillery Snacks taste...?

What was up with the kids in the beginning of this episode that were cheering when Palmer said he returned, it was just so bad it made me laugh.

I wonder what those octilary snacks are made of?

Stupid writers still don't know the diffirence between physical and special that's just plain uber.

I don't care if it swallowed it's ability overgrow was activated.

The episode is kind of ruined by having the bad dub music at the end of the battle.

Where's he going to put "The Gold Trouphie"?

Did Barry call Palmer "Daddy" even once in that episode? I just skimmed it over, and I did not hear it once.

Commander is sad ;_;

But I really like this episode. Nice to see Barry and Daddy interact with the other characters as usual. Nice foreshadowing (though painfully obvious..."shock?" *facepalm*)

And Paul gets a flashback. I was unsure of the lines Ash said about him until this dub came out.

Um what are you referring to?

I don't care if it swallowed it's attack overgrow was activated.
If you're not one to like spoilers, then I won't explicitly say anything, but what you said doesn't make sense, why? You'll just have to wait and see.

Fantastic Episode. Full of good laughs, {Johanna's build up being completely ruined by Palmer's addiction to the Octillery Snack=Good humor!} mixed with just enough thought to make a captivating episode. I also like how Dawn is going to take from one of Ash's new improvised move.

The only bad thing I can think of is the fact that Rhyperior is one of those Pokemon that didn't need to be dubbed.

Overall 9.6/10

Wow, Palmer sure does like to suck on the tentacle of a good ol' Octillery snack...

The battle was good and Barry was a loveable brat as always. Therefore good episode.

Yeah it was good, but it would have been better if all the battles had been shown in full instead of summaries.

We need more high intensity battles.

I enjoyed this episode. Barry's singing was really funny. Team Rocket are talented salespeople hahaha.

so know we KNOW ash is going to sunyshore in the english versin he'll probably get there in june or some time mid summer

Yeah, I'm definitely excited for that.

A very very good episode indeed.

There was only one moment which really had me get upset and I want to start with that: All the tournament battles being so extremely rushed sure was annoying and redundant. I mean, why not make two episodes if you have story as promising as today's one? This painfully reminds me of the old Hoenn days when they also rushed May's contest battles in the same terrible way. Considering how brilliant Sinnoh has been so far, I just don't get why they did it again.

But apart from that, it was really a great, thrilling episode.
In the following I want to point out two aspects which seemed most important to me:

A)
1. Today's episode undoubtedly proved that Palmer is inferior to the great Cynthia and really can't hold a candle to her, just as I already said last week.
a)The fact alone that he said things like "This is what you've been waiting for: Palmer has returned" and the way he was bragging and posing in front of the festival visitors was proof enough to verify my theory.
b)Moreover, there was his goofy clumsy behavior at Team Rocket's booth and when saw it I absolutely had to agree with Dawn who asked Barry whether he was sure that his father was a champion. No he's not!!
c)Last but not least, Palmer didn't exactly knock my socks off during the battle either. For the leader of the frontier brains, his performance was pretty underwhelming if you ask me.

And now here is how Her Majesty Cynthia would have reacted in the exact same scenes (and I didn't make that up, but inferred it from her behavior in previous episodes. So, the following arguments are logical through and through)
a) Never, repeat, NEVER would she have bragged with her skills like that arrogant Palmer did. She would have been humble all the time and most likely wouldn't even have announced that she was there in the first place. THAT'S how a REAL champion behaves. Making no fuss over themselves at all while being aware of their skills in secret. That's the only demeanor which is worth of a true master like my dear Cynthia
b)There's no need to mention that Cynthia would never have behaved as ridiculously as Palmer did at that booth, quite apart from him forgetting the tournament. This just shows that such commercial and private organizations like the Battle Frontier obviously have to rely upon second or third best battlers who presumably don't take their jobs all too seriously. Anyways, you would never have seen Cynthia in such an embarrassing situation. That's for sure!
c)And now the most convincing argument: Garchomp would have defeated Grotle with one hit regardless of his power boost while not even taking the slightest damage. Neither that Rhyperior nor his trainer who is supposed to be the strongest of the Frontier Brains were that powerful and awe-inspiring. Cynthia would have defeated him WITH EASE.
This episode makes me think that in a ranking Palmer would probably only come fifth after Her Majesty, Lance, Brandon and Lucian.

To cut a long story short: I just can't get to like that Palmer because he failed to live up to my expectations and therefore is no match for the REAL champions.

B)
The second aspect I'd like to point out is that I was truly delighted and almost even fascinated by Ash today. He proved himself to be a really skilled and advanced trainer twice, first when he was pondering whether Palmer would have a secret strategy against fast opponents and then when he was thinking about the reason for Paul's strength despite the fact that the latter doesn't show any signs of respect for his Pokemon at all. There was a touch of philosophy especially in that flashback scene and I definitely appreciated that Ash came up with such profound ideas and thoughts today. Just awesome! Remember it, writers! This is the Ash we want to see every week. Got me?

Despite that one point of criticism, it was an excellent episode which was exciting from the beginning to the end!

8 out of 10 points

Queen Cynthia, Palmer is from Twinleaf Town, he has every right to brag to his hometown, regardless of status as Strongest Frontier Brain in Sinnoh.

And not to sound sexist in any way, but as far as I know, girls are far more humble than guys at least in this show. I mean we have Johanna who is a grand festival winner and the only one who brags about it is Dawn herself. And even though Dawn does brag that her mother won the Grand Festival, I can't see Dawn herself bragging if she were to ever to win the Grand Festival.

Aside from snobbish girls, I can't really see them bragging about their own skill. I cannot think of one girl who was completely nice that bragged about her own skills be it contests or battles.

Moreover, there was his goofy clumsy behavior at Team Rocket's booth and when saw it I absolutely had to agree with Dawn who asked Barry whether he was sure that his father was a champion. No he's not

It's been a few hours since I saw the episode, but wasn't Barry his own son the one who said Ash couldn't beat him, also annoyed with Palmer's behavior in that scene? I ask because if Barry was annoyed than it doesn't really matter. Why brag about your father like he's the best, but "agree" when he acts weird.

And what does aloofness have to with a person's skill. The point is Palmer was having fun and being himself when it doesn't matter. Remember the battle, was Palmer acting goofy, clumsy at all? No, it's because he was in a battle.

Also since I have to go somewhere, I'll just quickly finish with your last point.

ast but not least, Palmer didn't exactly knock my socks off during the battle either. For the leader of the frontier brains, his performance was pretty underwhelming if you ask me.
Honestly I don't think anything would, I mean did Palmer need to OHKO Grotle in order for him to impress you, or would you have liked a decent battle. Grotle lost even with a power boost, and Rhyperior isn't Palmer's strongest Pokemon, so Palmer is still superior to Ash, and likely Paul (at this current time).

Edit: I forgot to add, Palmer actually respected Ash's skills during/after the battle, no one who is as arrogant as you portray him as would not do that at all. He was impressed with Ash's skill.

Are you saying Cynthia would be apathetic towards Ash and that makes her superior?

blah blah blah
Seems to me someone has never fought against the Battle Frontier in the games. Have you tried? They're very very hard to beat, way harder than the Elite 4 and, yes, even the Champion.

And once again; Acting goofy and funny doesn't affect strength.
