Review S13 EP02: Short and To the Punch!

Haha, I liked him and his abbreviations.
I really like this episode, it was a good Ash & Buizel bonding episode ;D

Ash's Buizel used to be really strong...

This episode is iscolated as the only time Buizel won in a looong time and probably the only time Buizel will win in a looong time.

Oh Marc. I feel you have been pigeon-holed.

So, Clayton, Bro-Bre, Poké-ner, Bat-over, Ash-Bui, Ash-Pika, "my par" for partner... missed Dawn/Piplup, but I think I was just in too much shock.

I rolled over half-way through and gave up. x_X Yay for Ice Punch, good night.

Hey, it's Marc Diarason, Kalin (Kiryu) voice from Yugioh 5Ds. Guess TCi loved the voice so much they used it for one of their own characters.

Again this is just a fact.

Pigeon hole?

I didn't find this episode bad, but I didn't find it all that great. They wasted 6-7 minutes on a dumb name conversation, and we didn't get to see how Buizel fully mastered Ice Punch. The animation made up for it however.

TPCi could have been better than simply 8 pieces of Japanese music. I swear, if they keep all of the Japanese music next week but not for DP161/162, you would not want to see my rage.

So Buizel wins? I am watching this now on the west channel. If he wins, that says somethign bad. Mr. Mime has trained much longer and harder, it should be much better in every way possible. 2 days training should not let Buizel have such a power gain.

There is no reason for them to make an uncut version, the series would still get crappy ratings.

That is true, after all, I believe that Buizel's previous win was in A Crasher Course in Power!, the Crasher Wake episode. But this battle was unbelievably rushed.

The rain didn't make it fair either. If I remember, the last time Ash fought a fully trained Pokemon, even after he trained his pokemon, it still lost. This was with Gliscor.

But yeah, rushed battle made no sense. Mr. Mime should have won.

Exactly, considering how Ash is developing a losing streak.

Mr. Mime winning wouldn't have made any sense. You don't just teach Buizel a new move and then have it lose. -_-

Anyway, this was a really fun episode. I liked that guy with all the weird nicknames for everyone, and it's always nice to see Ash develop a strategy on his own without anyone's help.

I do not think so. Remember Gliscor lost to Scizor even though Ash trained it specifically? The same idea applies. Mr. Mime is much better trained, and should have won. It could have been a closer fight to show progress however.

Marc's been back on-cast since Riley. And pigeon hole.

Diarason has been with 4kids since One Piece. He voice Kalin around the same time Riley.

Because that was its goodbye episode. It needed to lose so Ash would let it train with the guy.

I do agree it would've been nice to see Buizel master Ice Punch. It was weird going from Buizel having trouble to Ash being all happy that it was mastered. Especially since it just barely worked against Mr. Mime.

IDK, I just do not think of Ash being able to beat a Pokemon that has specifically trained for fighting for a long time.

And he was voicing Tyson just after he started voicing Zoro, and he did Yohji from Weiss long before any of that (Media Blasters). So? You make it sound like TPCi scouted him out due to his work with YGO or 4Kids, when it's likely the other way around (him simply auditioning for another gig, or getting the return call to do another, based on the previous job of Riley [which he would have to have auditioned for]).

*/off-topic*

One more thing... the animation was great, although it went all over the place in the episode.

Oy, this guy sure is screwy. "Pokenerds? Where does he come up with stuff?" Did TPCI just insult us? TR is getting into the screwy abbreviations. Moving fast enough to cool down? Physics? What's that? And nature blasts them off itself. I knew they were about use Bui's ability. Enjoy your moment of glory, Bui, it won't last long.

EDIT: Oh, "poke-ner". That's what I get for not paying close enough attention.
