Review S13 EP06: Fighting Ire with Fire!

Though I hated how TPCi just used mostly English dub music and that the only time they didn't was the beginning, the Team Rocket meeting, the Grand Festival news and the beginning of Ash and Barry's battle. I'm just saying there could have been more Japanese dub music used. Hope that next week's episode will be dubbed a bit better. Although I will say Infernape's English voice sounds cool. Props to Bill Rogers for that one.

You might want to be careful with what you said in those last two sentences.

Sadly, it had to be today when the Cartoon Network channel in my hotel's TV had some difficulties, so I can't see it until tomorrow because I recorded it. It was perfectly fine the past few days, and I was very excited to see this. Poor me.

Well just giving you a heads up. And besides it's clearly obvious that Bill Rogers voices Infernape because it has the same voice style as Empoleon. Also, don't forget that new Pokemon episodes usually surface the Internet 2 or 3 hours after it airs; basically on YouTube.

Meh, it was good I guess. Paul shows up, so does Barry. Paul uses Electabuzz to save Ash, Pika and Pip get kidnapped, Paul acts like a jerk. We learn about the Beacon Badge. We get another TR-involved evolution with Barry and Ash not finishing their battle.

Man, Infernape sounds like he's channeling Monkian. Hell, he's even got the fur colour to boot!
And with those tiger stripes and electric attacks, Electabuzz is the closest he'll get to fighting a thunder cat.

Wasn't so bad. The most exciting part was monferno evolving. The rest was pretty meh

The dub music really took me out of this one. I think PCI could have come up with something a bit more grand for the evolution scene.

Though it was great seeing Barry and Paul again, as well as Jessie finding out she still has a chance at the Grand Festival.

And why was Paul helping the gang? He seemed too OOC expressive in this episode too.

Monferno evolved due to the power of friendship..Yay.

Was it wrong for me to sneer at the intro? The people seemed to enjoy that Moth. vs Empoleon battle but it looked like a snore.

...
Odd, episode threads usually have 3 or 4 pages by this time.

-BARRYYYYY!!
-Lol at Empoleon laughing
-I love the way Joy says "really?"
-Barry and Paul interaction. Awesome.
-Brock rolling around in the ball xD
-Funny how Paul never intervenes until the very last moment.
-Did- did Paul just show emotion?!
-See, Paul does care aout his Pokemon. Or he wouldn't have yelled "noo"
-Unfortunately Ash will not be able to compete in the Sinnoh League due to severe 3rd degree burns..
-"lets battle sometime, me, you and Infernape" ...so.. whats the name of Paul x Ash x Infernape again?
-Damn it, now when Paul says Reggie wants to see another full battle all I can think now is "Tsundere Paul!!"

I actually quite enjoyed this episode. Sure, the whole Ash hugging Monferno was a bit ..meh, but Paul and Barry made up for that. The episode made it clear that Ash and Paul's interactions are not what they used to be, Paul has obviously got more respect for Ash and Ash has more tolerance for Paul.

And Paul showed traces of emotion! :p

Ash has meet up two of his Sinnoh rivals. I can't believe that Barry going to fine Paul for that attitude. Well I did see Paul helped out the gang a little bit and Ash been really grateful like always. But the rivalry between the three has just keeps on going.

- Team Rocket was smart.
- Paul was (kinda) nice.

What gives? o_0 Anyway, that was a decent enough episode, glad Team Rocket actually tried something new other than the generic "ZOMG HAND OVER PIKACHU" thing. And Infernape looks a lot less ugly on the show than he does in the games.

I knew that Ready Go! would be taken out for Monferno's evolution, but the dub music that was used was kinda unappealing. The music is what makes a particular moment intense, and for that reason, the dub underestimated Infernape badassedly saving the other pokemon.

Other than an inconsistency in the BGM (considering that last week's episode had almost all of the retained music), the episode was just as I expected it to be.
Good to see that Monferno evolves into Infernape, and the rival trio preparing for the Sinnoh League.

LOL, could me and Sombra have been responsible for this?
I saw Paul as tsundere ever since he was stalking Ash practicing with his pokemon and Brock confronted him about it, lol

I found it cute that he wanted to save the pokemon even though Ash was clearly ready to handle it on his own (he even got his pokeball ready and everything...aw Paul, you DO care!)

Anyways, I love this episode. That's why I had to see it in the dub. Barry was awesome as always, I love how similar he and his empoleon are XD

I know what you mean, that music just doesn't suit it. It sounded kinda down, serious and anti-dramatic :p

The evolution scene felt like it was missing something without "Ready Go!".
They could have replaced it with something other than that terrible dub music...
