What are some tips you have for catching pokemon in the safari zone?

Not really a question, more of a place for people to share their strategies

Don't. Just don't bother with the Safari Zone. It may look like a Poison-type heaven, with enough Ekans and Koffing and Arbok and Weezing and Grimer to get you set for life. But one runaway shiny Ekans later, that AAAALLLLL changes.

Or you could just chuck Safari Balls and hope for the best. I never did bother with mud or bait, and I got mostly good results, with one obvious and blatantly significant exception.
