Evening all.
I hail from Fair Blighty in the real world - that is to say, the UK - and Hoenn in the pokémon world (I entered the fandom with the advent of the third gen, more or less), not that it's awfully consequential.
I'm really very introverted and I'm not likely to become a frequently posting member of this forum easily. People rather intimidate me (I'm told it's mutual) and I have a history of social ineptitude. So, I don't feel an elaborate autobiographical introduction is merited at this juncture, save for the appended assurance that I really am this eloquently verbose like a freak.
I'm just here to write fanfiction. Mainly just one massive serial project - which will reach the 200,000 word mark or higher, I should think - and the occasional oneshot. The aforesaid project is a pokémorph, or pokémon anthro fic. Do not be alarmed! Before you bemoan the terrible quality of morph fics, let me impress upon you that mine explicitly sets out to subvert the typical failings of the genre. It is called "Different Eyes".
The morph therein are not human teenagers, or kidnapped, or unwilling, or abused, or superpowered, or humans with pokemon powers, or pokemon with instant command of English, or any kind of mary sue. The creators are not malevolent. Their goals are not sinister. I care about competent characterisation and decent plot. I am dedicated to quality, and hope I achieve it in the eyes of my readers, should I attain many.
I wish to explore in some depth the vast potential of human/non-human hybrids as characters and for philosophical/intellectual exploration. There will be heavy transhumanist themes. In doing so, I also wish to write a compelling story with believable characters. If I'm lucky, they will even merit emotional investment.
I will post a cardinal chapter at some point tomorrow (Feb 07 GMT+0) to see what sort of response I'll get.
It will be significantly less pretentious than this post. <3
