What's disgusting is that a man just died and some people are more concerned with the future of the NX and some even say that they are glad he's dead because Nintendo will now be better. Jesus Christ, some people.

RIP Satoru Iwata, you were responsible for some of my favourite games, you were a great man.

I'll miss the random fruit he would bring to the Directs from time to time as well as the Iwata Asks for new games. May he rest in peace.

Great...so many great people dying this year...his legacy will live on...excuse me a minute.

I can't believe this...I'm so shocked...Let us all remember him as the great man he was and everything he has done to bring Nintendo this far.

May he rest in peace.

Well it's justified to be concerned about the direction of Nintendo when there's a change in leadership (although I don't think there's much reason to be concerned, not any more than when Iwata was alive), but it is extremely irreverent to say Nintendo is better off with him dead.

Whoa, is this for real?

Here's a quote from one of his interviews with the Times. I can't remember which month.

Satoru Iwata said:
If it takes a lot of explanation for people to understand your entertainment product, you're doing something wrong.

RIP, you will be missed.

Are you kidding? That's more than disgusting.

Anyway, RIP, Mr. Iwata... I really loved your English. It always made me giggle. Now I may never giggle again during a Nintendo Direct, except maybe at a trailer once in awhile...

When I heard the news, I was devastated. He was a great man. And to have him go...

As you can tell, I decided to change my avatar to pay tribute to him. Because I know he'll be missed.

Nintendo and the fans who love the games they produced lost a great guy. I'm so sad to hear this. Condolences to his family and friends.

This is the man who cut his salary in half to avoid cutting staff. He also helped a lot with the development of Super Smash Bros., Mother, and Pokémon Gold and Silver. RIP Iwata.

This leaves me wondering about Nintendo and its future...

Same. Although I don't think Iwata's replacement will usher in a drastic change in direction (I suspect it will still be someone who values innovative hardware and software and overall fun), I can't help but wonder what direction Nintendo will go in now. Hopefully the new CEO will be someone who can realize the same goals but with more modern sensibilities, Nintendo's philosophy is one that the industry needs but they can't be taken seriously if they can't adjust to the changing times.

When I first heard of Iwata's passing from Nintendo Enthusiast, my first thought was disbelief and shock as Iwata was relatively young and shows no signs of stepping down or preparing a new successor. My next thought is Nintendo itself and what's going to happen without Iwata. I did not know why I would be so worry about Nintendo's status instead of simply feeling grief for the great man that has passed away. Then I realize why: Iwata is to Nintendo as Walt Disney is to the Disney Company.

While Iwata didn't found Nintendo or brought it to the video game market, he was upfront and center in his role as President (and later CEO) of Nintendo and directly brings the news and responses to the fans and audiences alike. In many cases, Satoru Iwata embodies the Nintendo I have come to know and love. They are almost synonymous with each other in identity. With him around, you are always assured that Nintendo would be around and stay true to that gaming spirit many come to love. As a CEO, he's an ideal and respectable model, always one who many can relate to and one who sees games as something more than just profit margins on a chart. With him gone, I don't know what's going to happen now. Nintendo's face has been Iwata for so long it's hard to imagine who would replace him now. Investor meetings and Nintendo Directs, you would always see Iwata there and he always reassures confidence for those in doubt.

Where would we go from here without Iwata? Where would Nintendo go? Where would the video game industry go? No one knows but there's one thing to remember:

Nintendo, Leave Luck To Heaven.

Oh, goodness... He's way too young to just die like this. It's kind of distressing to know that you can just go like that.
I think some things are never going to be the same after this. Man was legendary, from what I have heard about his earlier days, and I found it to be nice that he was there for the whole past decade. He seemed to be a really great person too.
Rest in peace.

Because of this, this particular emotion's going to be with me for a while until I can recover.

Practically the first thing I saw today when I logged into the Internet. Damn it...

Rest in Peace Mr. Iwata.
