I frequently leave my DS Lite on, but closed in "sleep" mode, and I left my DS at work last night. When I came in today, my DS was off, not dead, just off. I turned it on and all I got was "New Game," no continue option. I'm thinking that my DS was used as a demo device (I manage a video game store where you can try anything before you buy it) and my worker just popped my game out, thinking it was off. Would this cause a corruption in the save file? Thats the only thing I can think off... This sucks, I had alot of rare and shiny pokemon on there :(

Hmm... too bad for you. Now I know a regular DS Lite can last really long on Sleep Mode (done that once with mine, where I forgot I didn't turn it off), so I don't think the DS just went off. As for your theory that the game was popped out while it was still on, I've never experienced that, but I would say it's quite possible, though the odds of it wiping your save would still be very small.

Maybe this is a stupid idea, but could the game that's now on your DS be possibly a new copy of Platinum, not the old one you were playing? You did say you own a game store after all...

I have accidently popped my DS game while it was still on and was using it, so I am not sure that is the problem as its never happened to me.

Suppose that could be true, have to find out if that is your game or not.

I was play Viva Pinata one day and I closed it to eat my dinner. My friend popped the game out to see what I was playing, not realising it was still on. When I turned it back on, the save file was still there, I only lost what I hadn't saved. I assume that Pokemon would be the same.

This could be the case. Unless they were using it as a demo and deleted the entire game to show the beginning or something like that. Which would be awful.

I know its not a new copy of Platy, because we didn't ahve any copies of it. I really hope they didn't delete it just to show the begginning. That would be terrible. I'm not that upset really, I just had alot of event/rare/shiny pokemon on there. I was supposed to trade someone a Shaymin today and I now feel awful that I can't.. :(

I don't think they would have to delete your save game just to show a potential buyer the beginning.

I say this from experience. I remember when I had just bought my Platinum. I gave my old Pearl to my sister, and she ended up doing a New Game on it, but then later on realizing that the game didn't allow her to save, due to D/P/Pt's requirement of pressing some button combo to erase a save file, before allowing saving on new data.

To shorten, they could demo the game from the beginning without erasing your save... unless they had to demo saving the game too, which doesn't seem necessary.

It still doesn't solve the mystery of your wiped save though. Very baffling indeed...

now who could you have been giving that Shaymin to!? =P

ah well, I'm actually glad I stumbled across this thread because my first thought when you told me your save died was "this guy just doesn't wanna give me a Shaymin, shucks" =)

so yea, good to see it wasn't just a lame excuse. but I am very sorry that it happened. =(

what is your plan to rebuild your Poke-empire?

Someone at you're job must have had it out for you.

Diamond and Pearl make two save files every time you save. This is because when people were playing Ruby and Sapphire if their Gameboy Advances were to die on them while saving they're whole save file would be erased. It's probably also why it takes forever to save now. However it is something that I am ok with waiting longer to save because I know that i have a backup file if my save file corrupts. Also if it were to be because of something corrupting your save file. It would take you to a blue screen when you hit start and tell you that your save file is corrupt. So therefore I must say that someone must have deliberately deleted your data and I am very sorry for this incident. It has happened to me before and it is very aggravating.

Yeah, it seems like somebody is playing a really mean trick on ya.

I can help you rebuild your game if needed, and may be able to trade a Shymin off.

i feel sory for u...X( i hope u find who did it and(heres my violent side) torture them in unimaginable ways like tying them up and just giving them little stabs all over their bodies. or skinning them while they are awake.

or u could just ask around your store if you arent the violent type. although thats not fun.

I like your thinking.

But my method of punishment would be to strap the offender to some fireworks. :naughty:

Sorry, I just had to point that out.

one word: waterboarding.

I hope your crisis gets resolved.
