Ranked Season 35.jpg

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Ranked Season 35 ran from 1-31 October 2025, with a Japanese player known as Cobalt taking 1st place in the Double Battle division, attributing their victory to a team featuring Kyogre and Calyrex Ice Rider. Keep reading for more details on the team that won the impressive 1st place finish, as well as the most used Pokémon, Restricted Pokémon, and Mythical Pokémon in Ranked Season 35.

This was the second season to use the Regulation Set J ruleset, allowing the use of Paradox Pokémon, Legendary Pokémon, along with a choice of two Restricted Special Pokémon per team; for the first time, this term also includes all Mythical Pokémon available in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Any team or rental code seen below can be used in online Ranked Battles while Regulation J is taking place from 1 September 2025 to 4 January 2026.

Ranked Season 36 is now running from 1-30 November 2025. Start making the climb to Master Ball Tier for huge rewards: five Bitter Herba Mystica, two Love Balls, a Gold Bottle Cap, three regular Bottle Caps, an Ability Patch, and 300,000 League Points. Winning Team

The pairing of Kyogre and Calyrex's Ice Rider form has seen a lot of success in the Video Game Championships (VGC), winning the 2025 Portland Regionals before making it to Top Cut at the 2025 World Championships. There are a few fairly standard sets in Cobalt's version of the team; Calyrex Ice Rider uses Leech Seed and the Leftovers held item to keep itself alive while dealing huge damage with Glacial Lance, Grimmsnarl holds the Light Clay item to allow it to set up Light Screen and Reflect for eight turns instead of five, Urshifu Rapid Strike uses the Choice Band to boost its damage by a huge amount, and Landorus uses the Choice Scarf to outspeed huge threats like opposing Miraidon and Calyrex Shadow Rider. Rillaboom, however, uses an uncommon set by holding the Miracle Seed, an item that boosts a Pokémon's Grass-type attacks by 20% and was only used by 6.7% of Rillaboom in Ranked Season 35, with the Assault Vest being its most common held item. The Assault Vest is instead given to Kyogre to boost its Special Defense even further, allowing it to stick around for longer and deal huge damage with its Water-, Ice-, and Electric-type attacks.

Top Pokémon

Compared to the previous Ranked Season 34, Tailwind seems to be picking up in popularity, with Tornadus and Whimsicott both rising two places. As a Trick Room user, Indeedee fittingly sees a drop in usage instead.

Top Restricted Pokémon

The Top Restricted Pokémon are fairly stagnant, with only two notable changes. Zamazenta and Calyrex Ice Rider traded places, and Lunala and Arceus traded places as well. As described below, the latter is likely due to every Mythical Pokémon seeing a dramatic drop in usage.

Top Mythical Pokémon

With Mythical Pokémon being newcomers to Ranked Battles, you may wonder how much of a splash they've made. Well, we can draw the exact same conclusion from last month: they're not making that big an impact. Likely a result of shiny object syndrome, all but one of the Mythical Pokémon in the Top 150 most-used Pokémon have seen dramatic drops in usage, from Arceus and Magearna dropping 7 places to Shaymin Sky Forme dropping an astonishing 67 places and four Mythical Pokémon falling out of the Top 150 altogether.
