I have little knowledge on this anyway but I'm assuming that the British and Scottish members of the forum would have a lot of knowledge or enough to create a nice, friendly discussion.

Remember regardless of your position, you must treat everyone and their opinions with respect. Nor should you act uncivil or attack someone personally. If you want to attack someone, just attack a plant outside your house unless it is your mother's good plants then maybe throw a rock at a tree but a tiny rock. Anyway I digress, be civil and be calm and courteous. This will count as a warning to everyone.

Ok.

If Scotland want to leave, they can. We English barely even care.

Anyway they're complaining about not being treated fairly but Scottish people get free University places, whilst everyone else has to pay up to 9 grand a year.

I've been following this since the beginning of the year. As much as I love the idea of self determination, I feel like the Yes vote is taking a huge gamble. Mr. Salmond is basically betting that if Scotland says Yes they will get the Pound and stay in the EU when neither of these things are certain. It seems like Scotland wants independence with all the benefits of being a part of the UK.

If UK would just become a Federation most if not all of the Scottish grievances could be solved, such as the "democratic deficit." The current system is just broken and haphazard. Simple devolution won't cut it. Hopefully a No vote would jolt the UK to draft a written constitution, reform the House of Lords among other things.

I'm voting yes. I'm not convinced that Westminster has Scotland's best interests at heart and I do not feel represented by them. I didn't vote SNP in the last election, but I feel that they have done more to improve Scotland than Labour or Conservative have.

Of course going independent has it's risks and it will be bumpy, I think we need to take that risk to help give my generation, my kids generation and their kids generation the best start in life. A Scottish government for a Scottish people. Devo max isn't enough.

Alright does anyone have a link to show results? I will be searching for one until I have to leave for work.

To be honest, I would vote No if I was old enough. Hell, Slimy Salmond was hiding the fact they were planning on cutting the NHS by £45 Million, and would've hidden it until post-referendum!
@Jolene; As you've said, Salmond wants all the benefits of the UK without being part of it. We've now been confirmed to not be getting the Pound or stay part of the EU, meaning his plan is blown. Neither Scotland or England have the resources or sheer landmass to be a powerful country by itself, especially after the oil the Yes voters are pushing for runs out.

I'm American, so I can't vote...

I'm hoping whatever the people of Scotland decide, it will be good for everyone. I have been following this for a while now and I would love to see a new country. It's up to you, Scotland. Whatever you think is best. I'm just excited to be a part of history!

Actually if they do get it they have wait apply for the EU since they would be their own state. I doubt countries would vote them in due to politics. If Spain votes Yes then what's stopping Catalan region and so on.

I'm from Quebec so I could never vote on the referendum, but considering I also want Quebec to be independent from Canada, I would vote yes in a heartbeat if I could. I hope Scotland doesn't miss this unique opportunity like we have (twice) in the past. The only ones that can truly serve Scotland's interests are the Scots themselves.

Dundee with a massive swing for 'Yes'. So yeah Yes is still trailing and I'm not surprised.

Yeah it looks like a No. I'm not terribly surprised by this, but I don't really have much of an opinion on the matter (American and I don't really have a good pulse on the issue)

Economically it would be a smart decision to say no.

I just found out that the BBC forecasted a victory for no. I'm pretty surprised that things even managed to get as close as they did.

The result in Fife has taken "No" over the line, its official now.
