I saw that we don't have a thread for this already. Discuss the comics and movie here.

Got the books recommended to me by a friend last Spring. I read them all, and they were pretty awesome. Good retro gaming/comic jokes, the characters were fun and likable, and Scott's slow development into a more functional person despite his hilarious and surreal surroundings was interesting to read. Then I heard that there was a movie.

Went to see the movie recently. They left a few things unexplained, changed quite a few things and left out some of the plot in favor of increasing the overall level of awesome. Y'know what? It works. It didn't take itself terribly seriously, and that's what let it get away with the sheer audacity it threw in your face for two hours. Tons of fun, and I'd gladly see it again.

On a scale of 1-10: SUPER AWESOME.

For some reason it reminded me of Mario facing the 7 koopalings and bowser to get Peach back...but thats the usual story of Super Mario Bros!

But I liked the movie too

I have a hard time liking a main character who is 23, dates a high school girl, then cheats on her.
My boyfriend tried to get me to read the comic, but as someone who has been cheated on numerous times and taken advantage of by older boyfriends, I can say that I have never disliked a main character more.

I went to see the movie yesterday. Even though I have never read the graphic novels, I really enjoyed the movie. Even though some of the 'comic' effects seemed unneeded at some points in the movies it was still pretty good.

My friend introduced me to the books last year. At first when the videogames effects came into play I was like "Wtf, random much?" but after getting used to it I couldn't imagine SP without 'em.

I thought the movie adaption was pretty good. Obviously it couldn't fit in all the details from the comic books, but it made up for it with the soundtrack and the awesomeness of seeing certain scenes from the books acted out. I also loved Wallace in both incarnations.

I kind-a turned into a Scott-a-holic a year or so ago after finding a video of one of the Songs from the books while Youtube surfing. I love it, it's very awesome, and the closet Western product I've seen to Japanese manga. Then I found out sometime later about the movie, and it being directed by Wright of Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead fame, and I did a little kick in the air. It definately was my most anticipated film of the year (In a year where there is/was a lot to anticipate)

I really loved the movie as well, I saw it twice, something that I never do on my own. It cut out a lot of the character development and changed some things around a good amount (even though other stuff is remarkibly the same), but it pieced everything together so well that I'm not sure where they would have added that content, or made it better. I'm not sure if the movie is for everyone, it kind-a goes at a rocket pace and never stops, but I think if yo are use to paying attention to your movies then you'll be fine.

I loved the movie. I actually went to see it twice with a friend of mine. I loved all the little vidoe game references and the comic book feel of the whole thing. Kim was my favorite character. I loved her dry sense of humor. "That poster needs more exclamation points." *camera cuts to poster, with tons of exclamation points*

I loved it so much I decided to order the first volume of the comic series off Amazon. I can't wait for it to get here!

I thought the film was really good and I'm a tough critic. The only problem I had was where it kind of falls into the "all gays are promiscous" trope where Wallace goes [commenting on his own promiscuity]: "I didn't make up the gay rules"

In all fairness, he was dealing with a borderline-yandere stalker named KNIVES. Its understandable why he took his time, I think. Though I still ship them.

The one thing I didnt like was how some of the best scenes were taken out, like scott and the vegan fighting in the bargin store.
