As some of you may know, later this year the fate of Scotland being part of the UK shall be decided.

This is the place to discuss what will happen, and the effects of the Referendum's outcome. It may lead to Scotland to flourish or wither, perhaps even economic crash for the other countries in the United Kingdom. Perhaps this could lead to an argument. We never know 0_o

No matter what side you're on, or if you're just curious, you're welcome to post here. Please base your posts on logic, not just 'Hur dur I hate England so we should be independent' or 'Hur dur Scotland's stupid they'll run in to the ground' or anything like that.

Perhaps this could lead to war.

Uhh, I don't really see any situation in which that will occur.

David Cameron said that he'd do everything in his power to stop Scotland breaking off of the UK.

It'd probably be more of a petty squabble than a war. It'd probably last a months max :p

I'm a bit conflicted. Scotland may become more powerful, or will become super dependent.

I would suspect that any kind of military action taken by the UK against Scotland would be greatly frowned upon by the international community.

Shows how much attention I'm paying to international politics. Of course, I'm too concerned with the politics of my own country to worry about the concerns of other countries. xD

I searched online, but my search-fu is weak. Why is Scotland wanting to break away, exactly?

I'm completely against it. They may have the money to support themselves now but I can't see that lasting long. I don't think there will be a war aswell, britian Would probably get a few sanctions over that. (And the whole thing would be ridiculous)
Plus the fact that it will ruin 200 years of british history.

As the one Scotsman on the internet, I'm voting for independence because quite simply Westminster does not represent the Scottish people. And I think Wales and Northern Ireland should have the opportunity to vote for their own independence.

I don't see Scotland doing very well if they leave. Maybe that's the English of me speaking. Although I talk to a Scottish guy and he's against it.

I HOPE THEY DO and then wales and Northern Ireland to. then the new name will be the United Kingdom of England any way doesn't Scotland have most of the oil or something like that

Wales can't afford to leave the UK, and nothern ireland won't be leaving anytime soon aswell.
Yes everyone, I'm english,so I think the whole of the UK should stick together, Scotland leaving will cripple the whole british economy.

I'll respect the decision if they do go independant, its just the UK pretty much needs scotland.

Think not what Scotland can do for the UK, but what the UK can do for Scotland.

About a year ago I was against independence, I believed we wouldn't be better off, but I now feel that Scotland is ready to be by itself. Of course we will encounter problems once were independent, but I think we can tackle them.

Living across the pond, I can't really comment, because I'm still not sure why they are considering splitting. In my uninformed opinion, though, I think they should have the right to separate if they so choose. Whether or not it's a good idea is irrelevant, it's ultimately their decision.

As an American, I want Scotland to stay for the very selfish reason that if Scotland leaves, It won't be US and UK and anymore. It's nice have to major English speaking nations having the word United in them.

In actuality, I really don't give a crap either way. My own country is going to the dogs and nobody seems to be doing anything about it.

If Scotland does vote no, The United Kingdom should restructure itself into a federation, with the Federal Government at Westminister and each "state" having it's own internal government.

If Scotland go independant, it won't be long before Wales and Nothern Ireland will aseell. It will be the end of the union.

Which is what i am hoping for then it could be called United kingdom of England but the one side effect that it may have is for royal family not to exist either anymore

I don't think it will even be called "united kingdom of england"
I don't think the royal family will "not exist"
Any reason why you want the union to end?
