This topic is about two things:

1. With the revealation of Arceus having a fairly strong presence in Heart Gold and Soul Silver (particularly the event involved by trading it into HG/SS and having a new area opened.), do you think that Arceus has pretty much taken over the role in the remakes that could supposedly be occupied by Suicune?

2. With the inclusion of the RSE legendaries (Groudon, Kyorge and Rayquaza) in HG/SS as well, do you think that other elements from past games will be included.

My theory is that they're trying to get all Pokémon released so far to be capturable in the 4th generation games alone. Without the use of the GBA games (With the exception of the dongle method). Right now, with Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, Almost all Pokémon are capturable except for the past starters and most of the legendaries. You specifically need a GBA game for them... For now.

With HG/SS on the way, it might be possible to get those remaining Pokémon. This may possibly include the Kanto and Hoenn starters. Possibly for completing certain tasks ingame. Such as getting a Kanto starter when you get into the Hall of Fame and getting a Hoenn starter when you complete your Jotho Pokédex.

What do you guys think?

Well, it efficiently downplayed Celebi thus far, so I'd say so.

I really could see GF making all of the pokemon capturable in the 4th gen games now. Now that the newest DS lacks a GBA slot, I can see them moving away from the PalPark method of transfer. Also, the GBA games are getting older and there will be people who are introduced to pokemon through HG/SS. They will want to be able to "catch them all" without having to go back and buy a bunch of old games.

Just my 2 cents.

No waayy
They just don't show you Suicune and the other Girbles cus they don't wanna spoil the cool one for us ;)

They're not "scrapping" Suicune just like they aren't "scrapping" Kris, this is not Pokemon WhateverCrystal.

They are including them because they are trying to phase out third gen. DSi doesn't have a GBA slot and the new handheld console likely won't either.

If suicune's ledge is in Cianwood City like how in crystal it is I doubt the presence of Arceus will take it away.

Why would they get rid of a JOHTO legendary beast in JOHTO?

I just think they're trying to get more legendaries into the game, so kids can catch them without having to go to events and stuff.

Well, there's at least three more months until the Japanese release - they seem to be getting the non-Johto legendaries out of the way early, so they can do the main ones closer to the lead-up. Seems smart to me - the closer you reveal a Celebi event to the launch date, the more hype is gonna be behind it.

Note that ledge has a cave on it.

Well, A) Suicune is not scrapped. He is in. Obviously. He does not (probably) have the role he did in Crystal. I would be shocked if he did. B) Arceus is an event that must come from a different game. Suicune was already in the game and part of the plot.

Apples and Oranges. Apples and traded Oranges more like.

LOL It's not a Crystal remake.

Ahem. Anyway. Keeping in mind that the entire Arceus series of events is triggered by an event-exclusive Pokemon, I think that it's not as big a deal in the games as they're making it out to be. I doubt Suicune will get an expanded role; that actually was an integral part of Crystal, and there's not really a reason to reuse that now, especially with all the new additions they're making.

Making Suicune prominent over Raikou and Entei would not only be consistent with Crystal, but also akin to DPPt where Mesprit is deemed more special than Uxie and Azelf. It has a good chance of happening; the return of the Battle Tower (in its original location) and the ledge are positive signs that Crystal has not been forgotten.

Being an event-exlcusive Pokémon, Arceus is considerably unlikely to have any role outside its event - barring perhaps a few vague references to the "Original One". Unown, on the other hand, is obviously a different case. I have high hopes that Game Freak will finally incorporate the reference to Suicune and Unown's special connection.

An excellent point. I forgot about Mesprit. Which is weird, because I'm the one who added it to the GSDS page back in the day. Ah, well...

EDIT: OK, I didn't add it to the GSDS page, I added it to Mesprit's page. It looks like it was subsequently removed. That's annoying...

Ah yeah that is cool. I think the ledge now has a cave cause Suicune retreats there after you release the beasts while the other 2 roam. Could happen no?
AH! If you look closely there is another cave. I am now certain the Suicune part will be added but like I said Suicune shall stick in the cave.

I wouldn't say Arceus has a major role, it looks more like his inclusion in HGSS is only the Cynthia event. I don't think it'll have anything to do with the main plot, just like how having the Birth Island event in Emerald had nothing to do with the Hoenn Plot.

Arceus has a side event...that's all. I don't see how that's ANY indication of it replacing Suicune.

Being an event pokemon, Arceus probably won't take the place of anything, its not involved with the main storyline, event pokemon you can only get via wifi, a store or at a movie never interfer with the main storyline of the game, but make a sidequest if you will.

No one yet knows why the Hoenn legendaires are in game, but until we do, we can't say too much more on that. SOme assumed it was because these games would use DSi and with no GBA slot, no way to get Hoenn legendaries, but some say the place with the mountain, water, grass areas is Pal Park, and if thats true, that rules out that theory, so we don't know yet. Plus if the no GBA slot and this is for DSi and the reason for Hoenn legendaries was true (the no GBA slot) then why nothing about the Latias/Latios yet?

Same. Arceus' story takes place most likely takes place after beat the Johto E4 anyways,so it wouldn't be a problem. I doubt his story will be covered in the main story, maybe referenced, but NOT full-blown. Also, even though it was already pointed out,Suicune's hill that was in Crystal is still in HGSS,so it looks like his story is still there.

Um, I think that's the cave that leads to the new area. Just saying. I don't think it has anything to do with Suicune.

So what would that random cave in the middle of Cianwood be?
