The 98th Oscars’ Red Carpet had an unusual surprise for Pokémon fans, as actor McKenna Grace, known for her roles in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 and Scream 7, revealed a handful of Pokémon TCG packs from her dress pockets. “I’m really into Pokémon cards, and I want to try to be the first person to open Pokémon cards at the Oscars,” said Grace.

Grace arrived with Regretting You costar Mason Thames in a custom Vera Wang gown - the pockets filled with packs of Scarlet & Violet—Journey Together. She revealed five packs to red carpet interviewers, mentioning, “I snuck one over to Mason already, I don’t know who else I can sneak these to.” Grace opened the cards during the event, joking with interviewers that she would open them during commercial breaks. The actor revealed what she’d pulled on her Instagram Story: a full art Lillie’s Clefairy ex, a fittingly pink and dainty card for her Oscars look.

It seemed Grace is a big fan of Pokémon, saying she might share the cards if she found another Pokémon fan. “I might keep them for myself,” she laughed. The official Instagram account of The Pokémon Company International reposted Grace’s Story, which the star was reportedly excited about.

McKenna Grace’s next announced film role is in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, and she continues to release singles and EPs with Photo Finish Records.

This is her way of ensuring that she will be picked for the next live-action movie/show, which will happen eventually.
