I was wondering if it's possible to get screencaps from DVDs without purchasing any type of software. If it isn't, what is the best type of sofware to get? I want to take some screencaps from some Pokemon DVDs I have, and whenever I just press Print Screen, it just gives me a black screen.

PowerDVD's what I use and it lets you take screencaps. ^^

Thanks for the info! Do you happen to know if that's available commercially?

If you're looking for something free, Fraps can reliably take screen caps and short clips of DVDs or most videos in general. Though, there is still a watermark on Fraps captured pics which may or may not sway your vote.

If you really want something good, usually the program you use to play DVD's on your computer may have a screencapture device, if not then you need to invest in some kind of software on the net [like something that records at high quality without a company's logo].

VLC Player, which is free and can play virtually any format, can also take hardware overlay screenshots.

Thank you to all who gave me advice! Thanks to your help, I am now able to take screenshots on my computer, and they look great. Thanks once again!
