All we basically know is that it's a moderately-sized city (see attachment)within walking distance from Pallet (Delia's tour group walks there in one episode, and Ash apparently *runs* there within a few hours). It's very big in the surfing season, Giovanni has a home there, and the Westwood lab is there.

Cars are seen getting off a bridge, but do we know if the bridge is the only way into Seafoam? Basically, is it an island? A few islands like in the game? A peninsula? And does anyone have any more screenshots of it as a whole?

I need this for Obsession, and you *do* want to read more Obsession, riiiight? [/shameless]

aren't the islands called Futagojima (Twin Islands) in Japan? So where's the "twin" in the anime?

It's really strange how Satoshi got to the Twin Island without boarding a ship or swimming.

I also don't know how's the name is realised in anime. In the games there were "twin" caves. In anime, maybe it's just a name.

The island was never inhabited outside the anime canon.

In the show it is only referred to as "Seafoam Island". There is also a bridge to Fushcia.

All right, I've come across something else. I can't tell from my tape since it's too blurry, and no one else seems to be able to see it in the attached picture above. Is there a wall seperating the beach from the rest of the city? Is it a riser? Because in the panning shot going from Westwood's lab to Giovanni's beach house, there's *something* blocking the street from the sand.

Maybe:

1) It was another "Anime thing" where the dubbers and/or writers forgot that there already was another Seafoam Islands. Since in the Japanese version, like Maxim said - wrote, whatever, they were twin CAVES, maybe when they finally made the dub, the translaters translated them into islands and forgot there were another pair of islands with that name.

2) The bridge? Hmm...Maybe it was to show that there was a time difference from the games? Even the pokemon managers, as I call them, said the Anime followed the game up to a point. Maybe it was past the "point"?

3) Giovanni wanted peace and quiet? Maybe, he could've bought the house before tourists came. In the games, the islands weren't inhabited, so maybe he bought them then.

4) Westwood's a little crazy but he could've bought his lab for the same reasons. Then the crazy tourists came and well there ya go!

@_@ Brain hurts....

They never really seem to put much thought in geographical arrangements.

Weird though, since the landscapes are beautiful. You should see the cliffs they draw.

No, I mean all the landscapes in the Anime in general. They are pretty. Most people couldn't do that stuff. I for one can't. >_< Wish I could...

yeah... Emeray, you haven't watched many other anime, or other shows in general, have you? The environments in Pokemon ARE extremely bland, as Habunake said. Aside from the fact that there's a forest fucking everywhere, there's absolutely zero effort put into making the background seem more rich in detail. In the example of a forest, rather than make the trees and bushes look alike in every scene, they could... I don't know, use more variety in plant species, have a fallen tree and its remaining stump or a moss-covered rock appear somewhere, show some sunlight shining down past the canopies, etc. Shit, try looking at something like this (best example off the top of my head) and tell me anything in the Pokemon anime even remotely compares. I've probably seen 8-bit video games that could pull off a forest scenery better.

Ok...See your points. But it's my opinion, that's why I'm writing this now.

....

8-bits?

And also, isn't this about the Seafoam Islands? I know I half started this, but shouldn't we move it back on topic?

And, yes, I do watch other shows, thank you very much. But I like Pokemon a bit more.
