Chapter Two: Training the Sparks

Chapter One:
Red Takehousi and His First Pokémon

Welcome to the Pokémon World. Not many people know about the world- only the strong, talented trainers know everything- and even then there are still some things they probably haven’t heard of. In this world, anything can happen. Well, nearly anything…

Red Takehousi stepped out of his house, slamming the oak door behind him. He sniffed the fresh air, and started walking down the smooth rock path. He placed his red cap on his head, and shouted in all his glory and proudness, “YEEHAH! TODAY’S THE DAY I BECOME A POKéMON TRAINER!” He pointed his finger at all the surrounding houses, as he spinned 360 degrees on the spot. “AND NONE OF YOUUUUUUUUU WILL STOP ME!”

Red stumbled slightly in embarrasment. “Ooh… I knew I shouldn’t of shouted like that…” He standed straight again, continuing to walk down the path. “Oh well. Your neighourhood have to know who the new trainers are.”

Red passed a wooden sign, with many papers of sorts pinned into it. The paper in the top hand corner got his eye. ‘Red Takehousi, twelve year old, starts his pokémon journey. Good luck, Red! ~Delia Takehousi, Red’s mother~’ “Mom… I knew I should of said goodbye to you.” He continued to walk yet again. “Oh well! Can’t get all sobby over spilt milk!”

A glinting glow appeared in the green tree next to Red, as he stared up at it. A few leaves rustled out, as the glow leaped up into the air. “M-eeeeeee-ew!” A flash occurred as the creature disappeared.

“What was…?” Red curiously wondered, as a crowd ran round the tree.

The main woman, with blonde hair and a microphone and a hand, started talking about the news into the camera, being held by the 5 foot tall cameraman. “Hello and welcome to PNN, Pokémon News Network. We are here to talk about the amazing event that recently occurred here in Pallet Town. A glow appeared in this tree here,” She said, as she stared up at the treetop. “Rumours reveal that the glow was from the little-known pokémon, Mew.” She immediately turned to Red, the cameraman following her. “And here, is the one and only witness. What have you got to say about this?”

Red grabbed the microphone from the news reporter, “Well, I was just walking to Professor Oak’s lab, and I heard a strange sound. I looked up at the tree, and there was a pinky glow. Before I could do anything, it floated away. I nearly touch-”

“Wow.” The woman cheekily interrupted Red. “This just in- a woman states she gave birth to Munchlax. Find more about this news at 6:00 clock, only on PNN.”

Red stared at the crowd, as they finally walked away. “Umm…umm…umm…” He cheered in excitement. “I GET TO BE ON TV!!! YEEEEEEEEEHAH!” Red started walking yet again, still walking to Professor Oak’s lab. “Where is that old geezer’s lab, anyway? I mean, he must live miles aw-”

“Old Geezer? OLD Geezer?” Professor Oak was there outside his lab. He tapped his foot on the ground eagerly. “Who are you anyway, young man?”

“Red Takehousi.” Red followed Professor Oak up the steps to his lab. “I can get a pokémon from you, right?” Red continued into a rather long conversation. “’Cos, you know, I really want to be a trainer, and I would love to be famous, rich, and stuff like that.”

Professor Oak opened the door to let Red into his lab. “In here. You can get your pokémon in here.” He waited for Red to finally get into his lab. “C’mon, kid, I haven’t got all day.” Red walked in, following Oak’s command. ‘I wonder what pokémon that kid wants…? He looks like the sort of guy who doesn’t fall for the normal stuff…

Red walked over to the traingle shaped table, with a green pokéball on each 60 degrees corner. “Is that all the pokémon you have? Just three?”

Yeah, I knew it.’ “Well, there must be at least one of them that you like! Just throw one of the pokéballs and see!” He sighed in angriness. ‘He’s not going to like them…

Red threw the first pokéball, a green flash appearing from it. “I choose you… pokémon?” A green creature was released from the pokéball, green razors coming from the bud on it’s back. The blue pokédex on the side table flashed up as it spoke out information. It beeped twice, before finally beginning.

Bulbasaur, the seed pokémon. The bud on it’s back is present from birth, and supplies it with vital nutrients.

Red wasn’t amazed one bit. “Is that a water type…?” He threw the second pokéball, this time a red flash appearing from it. “I hope this one is better than the last.” He said, as the pokémon leaped out of it’s ball. The pokédex went off once again.

Charmander, the lizard pokémon. The brighter the flame on it’s tail burns, the healthier and stronger it is.

“Umm… next?” Charmander immediately breathed fire onto Red’s face as he squirmed in anger. “…? Next please…oww…” He threw the third pokéball, this time an aqua blue flash emerging from it. The pokédex went off a third time.

Squirtle, the tiny turtle pokémon. To defend from predators, it withdraws into it’s strong shell before releasing a huge burst of water from it’s mouth.

“They’re all crap, Professor Oak!” He shouted at Oak with steel determination. “I need a decent pokémon- NOW!”

Professor Oak sighed madly. “Ok.” He pressed a button on the side, a pokéball suddenly coming through the middle of the table. “This is my last pokémon.” The pokémon emerged from the ball, opening it’s eyes for the first time ever. “It’s name… Pikachu.”

“So amazing…” He grabbed Pikachu, placing him in his hands. “I’LL TAKE IT!”

Re: Search The World (PG-13, Non-Canon)

Seems a bit rushed, spoilers make a fic seem predictable, and it seems Red is going down the path of Ash. And Mew? This early in the fic?

All later chapters are much longer. Spoilers will be deleted.

Red has the same sort of nature as Ash when the anime first started.

Mew too early? One, it was in the first chapter of Pokémon Special, and two, it helps to start one of the psuedo-arcs that will later be revealed.

Chapter Two
Training the Sparks

Last time: A glow? In the trees? That could only be… Mew!? And Red’s a pokémon trainer! Was it just me, or did he choose Pikachu?

Red ran through the woods, with Pikachu on his shoulder. He sat on a nearby, brown log. “How *huff* long *puff* is it to Viridian City, anyway?” He noticed a cap and some purple pokéballs next to him on the log. “ What the hell?” A golden Spearow swooped by, taking the log with it. “Wow… so strong.” Red’s pokédex immediately went on. ‘Spearow, the bird pokémon. When it gets hit in any way, it will go off in a rage.’

He leaped up, continuing to walk again. “Well Sparky, we haven’t got all day.” This time Pikachu clinged onto Red’s leg tightly. “If we don’t get to Viridian by this evening, we’ll be behind on our journey.”

Red passed a huge oak tree, a Ratata gnawing the bottom of it, biting part of the bark off. “Rat-ata! Ratata!” It squeaked with delight at the sudden sight of Red. “Rat!”

‘Ratata, the small rat pokémon. These pokémon hardly every want to battle- they only do it for food.’

“This is it, Sparky! Thunder Shock!” Electricity shot out of Pikachu’s left cheek, frying Ratata to death. “Yes! Defeated!”

‘Foe Ratata is defeated.’ Red’s newly obtained PokéDex said, ‘Pikachu earned 19 experience points. Up to Level 6. Shocking. *bzzt*’

Red continued to walk through the woods. “Well, we’d better start walking again.” Red tripped on something as heavy as a bowling ball. “What the hell?” Red asked himself, as he stumbled once or twice, after finally standing up by a tree. He picked it up, finding out it was a rock with a piece of paper tied it. He opened it up, finally reading it. ‘Dear Him or Her, I have entitled the Master Ball to whoever obtains this note. Pass to Rocket HQ in Saffron City for ownership.’

Red read the note carefully, curiously wondering what it meant. He scratched his head in a moment of peaceful thinking. “What is the Master Ball anyway? Is it some kind of pokéball that rules the world?”

“You’re an idiot, aren’t you?” A teenage boy appeared from behind a tree, his blonde hair bustling in the wind. A red hot Charmander sat on his shoulder. “My name’s Blue Namikama. You must be an idiot not to know what the Master Ball is. It’s a pokéball that captures any pokémon without fail. It was manufactured by Silph. Co, and only 50 have been made.”

“I’M NOT AN IDIOT!” He grabbed a pokéball, enlarging it in his hand. Pikachu jumped down onto the ground. “I’LL CATCH A POKéMON TO PROVE IT TO YOU!”

“Fine.” He laughed to himself at the thought of Red catching something. “You? Actually CATCHING a pokémon?” He grabbed a pokéball from his belt as well, also enlarging his. “Once you catch that weak pokémon, we’ll have a two on two battle. Then we’ll see who’s the idiot.”

“…Okay.” He searched around the woods. ‘What pokémon should I get anway…?’ He heard a rustling sound in the bushes. “Who’s that pokémon!?”

‘Pidgey,*bzzt* the tiny bird pokémon.’ Pidgey flew out of the green bush, trying to focus on Red. ‘It get’s mistaken for Spearow time and time again- but actually, Pidgey is much quieter and friendlier.’ “Pid-gey! Pid Pid!”

“You ready, Sparky?”

Pikachu nodded to Red, charging up electricity in his cheeks. “Pika……” A thundershock shot out of Pikachu. “CHUUUUU!” Pidgey was slowly fried, before collapsing onto the forest floor. “Pi! Pikachu!” Pikachu danced in happy joy. It ran over to Red, before jumping into his arms. “Chu, Pikachu!”

‘Pidgey was defeated.’ Red’s aqua blue pokédex bleeped, ‘*bzzt* Pikachu earned 23 experience points. I am shocked. *bzzt*’

“Okay, you’ve done enough, Sparky!” He threw a brownish-white pokéball. “Go, Pokéball!” The pokéball opened as soon as it hit Pidgey, then closed again. It rolled over to the left, the right, back to the left, and stopped still.

‘Pidgey was captured. Pidgey was healed inside it’s pokéball. It is Level 3.’

“Humph. Congratulations.” Blue said sarcastically. “And now…battle?”

~@ Red’s House~

Red’s mother sighed to herself while by the kitchen window, stroking her white Meowth. “Oh Fluffles… will Red ever come back again?”

‘Well, I was just walking to Professor Oak’s lab, and I heard a strange sound.’ The telivision said, showing a repeat of the news earlier that morning. “R-R-Red?” ‘Before I could do anything, it floated away.’ “Oh my god, Red, it’s you!” Tears started to stream down her soft face. “Oh Red…”

~Back @ Route One~

“Let’s get these rules straight.” Both Blue and Red were standing in a rectangle shaped section of the route. Blue told Red, “Two on two, right?”

“Yes. Without any further ado…” Red threw his first pokéball. “Go, Flygirl!” Pidgey emerged from the pokéball.

“I choose you, Machop!” The grey pokémon emerged from Blue’s pokéball. “I’ll begin the battle! Use Karate Chop!”

Machop ran over to Pidgey swiftly, slamming it’s hand straight onto Pidgey’s wing. “Mach-OP!” ‘Machop, the superpower pokémon.’ Red’s pokédex said, ‘It loves to work out and build its muscles. It is never satisfied, even if it trains hard all day long.’

“Flygirl, use Gust!” Pidgey performed a gusty hurricane using both of it’s wings, finally launching the gust into it’s opponent. Machop got caught up into the gust, finally landing back on the ground.

“Focus Energy!” Machop stayed on the spot for a while. Pidgey stared at Machop curiously. “Chop……”

‘Focus Energy is a normal type move. It raises the chance of getting a critical hit. A critical hit has double the strength of a normal move. It wears out when the user is switched out.’

“Now’s our chance, Flygirl! Wing Attack!” Pidgey’s wings glowed white, slamming into Machop as she flew. Machop collapsed onto the ground. “Yes, Flygirl! We- I mean you, defeated Machop! Way to go!”

‘Machop is defeated. Pidgey gains 45 experience points. Up to Level 5.’

“What?” Blue called Machop back into his pokéball. “You didn’t even know about the type advantage Pidgey had, did you? Flying type moves are strong against Fighting type pokémon. Only idiots don’t know about that.” Blue threw his second pokéball onto the field. “I choose you, Magnemite!”

‘Magnemite, the magnet pokémon. The units at its sides generate electromagnetic waves that keep it airborne. It feeds on electricity.’

“Right Flygirl, use Peck!” Pidgey flew straight into Magnemite, it’s beak glowing. As soon as it hit Magnemite, it ricocheted off the steel, slamming into a tree.

‘Pidgey is defeated.’

“Oh crap! I forgot that Magnemite was part Steel.” Pikachu jumped off of Red’s shoulder. “Okay Pikachu, you know what to do! Thundershock!”

Electricity shot out of Pikachu, electrifying Magnemite. Magnemite handled the thundershock, letting out a victory call. “*dzzzt* Magnemite.” Magnemite rolled over to Pikachu swiftly.

“Magnemite, charge up!” Magnemite turned red, charging up some kind of energy. “Get ready for this, Red- EXPLOSION!” Magnemite exploded immediately, taking Pikachu with it. Strangely, after all the smoke cleared, Pikachu was the only one who had fainted.

‘Pikachu is defeated. Overall winner is Blue Namikama.’

“What the hell? How come Magnemite survived that!?”

“Humph. You definetely are an idiot. You see…” He picked up his Magnemite, holding it in his hands. “Magnemite has maximised it’s defense stat. Steel type pokémon naturally have a high defense, but I also fed it items that raise pokémon’s defense. That way, Explosion hardly effects it. Who’s the idiot, then?”

In Chapter Three, The Rocket Promise

Next Time:
What!? A Team Rocket grunt stealing stuff from Viridian City? And a new move for Pikachu? I wonder if it’s a swift move

Wow interesting if not a little confusing and a little to long to go on.
