So I was shelving my DVD collection in my new room, and as I was putting up all my Pokemon ones, in chronological order as I always have, I came to a snag...

I have no clue where Revelation:Lugia falls on the timeline of the Orange Islands arc. So, since I have all three of the Orange Islands DVDs, can someone tell me where the best place to put my second movie DVD would be?

Charizard obeys Ash in the movie and he also has Snorlax, so it takes place after those episodes at least.

You can always place the movies mostly depending on what Pokemon are on the group at the time.

Charizard obeys Ash in the movie

Does he really? That scene when the intro scene plays doesn't really make it look like he does, and as for him helping out later on - well, it was mentioned that pokemon all around the world flocked to the area in case they could help. Charizard isn't so much an asshole that he wouldn't put his attitude aside and help save the world when every other pokemon ever seemed ready to do so. He wasn't completely disobedient in the Mewtwo movie either.

Plus, the movie first made it to Japanese theatres shortly before said episode aired.

So did Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon, which shows Pikachu performing Volt Tackle, and the special was shown before "May's Egg-celent Adventure", the episode where Pikachu learns the move. This happens.

Yes, but the movie was shown before ANYONE had seen Charizard starting to obey, or even knew it was going to happen (unless some magazine had spoiled it, or something).

Mastermind was written and animated in Japan, long after Volt Tackle had been introduced. Maybe the writers simply didn't remember when the attack had been introduced, or knew how far the US had gotten in the series, or simply didn't think of it. After all, they knew Pikachu knew Volt Tackle, so maybe it just didn't cross their minds that they were essentially writing an episode that would be shown to people living rougly a year in the past. I don't know.

Umm... Adamant, you do bring up a good point in regards to this, but... I'm not sure if the Intro scene counts since, If I recall correctly, Snorlax was ALSO seen causing pandamonium on the boat, thus forcing Ash to recall it, And that pokemon was relatively obedient to Ash (At least, I THINK it was). I think that most of the people here are correct in this one. Also, I don't think it was obedient in Pokemon the first movie either, It most likely was fighting what it thought was a challenging foe rather than actually obeying Ash (really, It's no different compared to when Charizard was fighting Magmar in the Blaine Rematch, It was quite obvious that the only reason as to why Charizard was even bothering to fight Blaine's Magmar was because it viewed Magmar as a worthy adversary and not because it so much cared for Ash winning.)

On topic, as far as I can tell, it might have taken place a little bit after Charizard chills and the episode where he caught snorlax. I might be mistaken, but meh, whatever turns you on.

Nah, he had to recall it since it's was nearly sinking the boat due to it's weight. Charizard was spitting fire in all directions and freaking everyone out.

And that pokemon was relatively obedient to Ash (At least, I THINK it was).

Yeah, more or less, though it's list of priorities pretty much went "food > sleep > obeying Ash". Nearly half it's appearances involved Ash being unsuccessful in preventing it from eating all the food around, or not getting it to wake up.

At the beginning of the movie, that was certainly the cause, but after the stakes got upped, it put such things aside. It did go along with Ash and the other real pokemon once he released them, t fought it's clone along with everyone else (though that doesn't nessecarily mean a whole lot), and it cried when Ash was killed.

I saw the movie long before Charmander evolved, and I had no idea Charizard was even supposed to be disobedient.

But still, my point is that while Charizard may have been somewhat of an asshole back in those days, the entire world was at stake, all pokemon that had the opportunity to do were flocking to the area just so they would be able to help out if so was nessecary - Charizard knew what was going on, of course it's going to help out when it was asked to, just like anyone else. Doesn't mean it's obedient.
