In the Official Trailer it appears that Secret Bases may be a thing in Let's Go Pokemon Games.
Found in the official trailer at time 1:10 :

This forum is on life support.

That's a good find. Co-op would serve a better purpose if you could battle other players for experience points.

Huh, I actually didn't notice that. Great find! It could just as easily be nothing though.

It's just the water leaking from the walls like in FRLG. Do you really think Secret Bases will be in a game that's targeted at casuals to the point where they won't even include wild Pokemon battles? The chances of seeing any of those fun sidequests in this game is near zero, we've seen them remove that kind of stuff before because of casuals (see: no Battle Frontier in ORAS).

Secret Bases are pretty casual, I'd say. Aren't Go's gyms more involved than ORAS' custom gyms? Disregarding the battle mechanics, the former are a team effort while the latter are just a glorified spin on Viridian House.

I heard July 5th- the 8th there will be special stage presentations daily for the Let's Go games. maybe we will get an answer on the secret bases then and other stuff.

That’s the excuse for the Battle Frontier specifically. I the same games that removed said feature, the Secret Bases got expanded in those same games. Doesn’t mean they’ll return here though.

In general though, the more they've headed in the casual direction, the more they've taken to trimming post game and side features. Can't remember where but I think they did say casuals mainly want to play the main story and don't really involve themselves in side quests and post game. At any rate I doubt this game will be brimming with extra content, they might have something extra that RBY didn't have but I wouldn't be surprised if it was almost as barren as those games. They really don't seem to care much about that aspect of the games at all nowadays.

But Go is all about playing indefinitely, and while its growth has been slow, the current feature set isn't shabby. You'd think that Masuda would take that into account.

Could the Let's Go have stuff added to them later since it is Switch instead of handheld?

I don't see what that has to do with it. But yes, DLC isn't impossible despite what Masuda said 5 years ago. It really shouldn't be used for old features.

Pay $10 and you can have wild battles!
