seeing the Johto Starters in Sinnoh?

My wifi doesn't seem to work fully, i can't connect to other people directly. i can, however, use the GTS. Typhlosion is my favorite pokemon, and i've wanted one for my team for a long time.

However, in order to search for it, i need to view the 'mon, or any of it's evolutions, first. Is there any trainer in the game who carries a Cyndaquil, Quilava, or Typhlosion on their team, or any other way i can add one of them to my national dex?

I'm not sure how widespread this problem is, so if there is an easy fix i haven't thought of (my wifi is fine, i play on XBlive constantly and i've tried my neighbor's internet. no luck. found nothing on google queries either) just move my thread or LMGTFY me please.

Thanks for reading! if my luck is really that terrible, i do realize i can wait for HGSS and GTS between my games... but i'd much rather not.

nope. If you want to see one you must obtain one (even if it is just in a back and forth trade). It's the thing about GTS that always made me think wtf.

yeah, there is really no reason for the GTS block, i can see it being in effect BEFORE you've gotten the national dex, but after you own it, you should be able to have the whole list available, no arguments can sway me otherwise there.

since it's a bit unfair to simply NOT be able to catch 'em all in a single game, maybe i can use an Action replay to "view" 'em all (or at least what i want), to make them available in GTS. i won't condone straight cheating, but i don't like jumping through hoops suspended just out of reach, after i've worked my butt off. :disgust:

You have to trade one from your friends or over Wi-Fi, or have a GameCube, a Game Boy Advance (original or SP), Colosseum, a GC-GBA cable, one GBA Pokémon game and a DS model other than DSi, and catch the shadow Quilava in Col, purify it, beat the main story, trade it to the GBA game, migrate it to the DS game and then breed it. Simple :]

Oh right, that's possible as well. But I recall you get only one of them, so you have to clear the game three times in contrast to clearing Colosseum once.

It may be a problem with the security on your wireless router. I had the same problem before with being able to get into the wifi room and see people, but not being able to trade them. Try going to a wifi hotspot.
