Sooo, if you can spare the time, could you please help me with my platinum game? I'm up to Volkner in Sunyshore City-I know his pokemon are weak against ground types, but I have none! This is my team right now:

Stapaptor Lv.52 Fist Plate
Fly
Brave Bird
Take Down
Close Combat

Empoleon Lv.52 Sea Incense
Bide-I'm planning to get rid of this for something better...
Brine
Drill Peck
Surf

Luxray Lv.53 Magnet
Tackle-Swap for Thunderbolt perhaps?
Crunch
Charge
Thunder Fang

Roselia Lv.53 Rose Incense
Grass Whistle
Giga Drain
Petal Dance
Magical Leaf

Lucario-Level 39-still training! Hatched from Riley's Egg
Reversal
Force Palm
Aura Sphere
Counter

Back-up
Gyarados Lv.70

Aqua Tail
Dragon Dance
Hyper Beam
Hydro Pump

What level should they be? Should I delete/make them learn new moves?

Thanks for taking the time to read this! And thanks even more if you reply!! :D

I'd say your best bet here would be your Luxray and Roserade, given their resistance to the Electric type. Your Roserade sounds as though it could do okay, as long as you're wary of Volkner's Luxray's Fire Fang and Ice Fang, but I'd advise you beef up Luxray's movepool with moves of various types, said moves depending on whether its Attack or Special Attack is better. If you can quickly level up Lucario, that'll help. Gyarados is, unless it's exceptionally fast and powerful, completly useless here.

use gyarados as an insta kill. When the last pokemon is send out, send out gyrados. with it's mush higher level, it should be able to outspeed the opponet. use hyperbeam for an easy kill

Having Dragon Dance, Hyper Beam, and Hydro Pump together on a moveset makes no sense. DD increases Gyarados' Attack and Speed, but Hyper Beam and Hydro Pump are special attacks. You should take advantage of Gyarados' best stat, its Attack.

There are many more things that can be said about your team, but it's better to start with the basics, such as what I mentioned above. I'd avoid using Gyarados in that gym, despite its high level.

Do NOT use any Electric attacks against Jolteon or Electivire, whatever you do. Their abilities will just give them boosts from Electric attacks instead of taking damage.

You could potentially hit two birds with one stone and teach Gyarados Earthquake. It should be fast and strong enough to one-shot the gym leader.

Indeed, but unless the OP is confident in Gyarados' speed and Attack, that can easily backfire. Especially against Jolteon.

Well I haven't really used my Gyarados...a friend gave it to me.

You could catch some other Pokemon, such as ground-types, if you could be bothered, use them as cannon-fodder, before sending out your Luxray and Roselia - So that would mean less strain on those two, and you could possibly take out his whole team without using them: If you're lucky!

Don't worry! I beat Volkner!!! I used Empoleon's Bide to take care of stupid Jolteon with it's Charge Beams, then I used Roselia and Luxray to take care of the next two. Luxray got knocked out, so I finished off Electivire with my Graveller-even though it was only level forty something!!
Heehee!

Stapaptor Lv.52 Fist Plate
Fly
Brave Bird
Take Down
Close Combat
I'd think about replacing Take Down with Quick Attack. Staraptor does not have good defenses, so it won't be lasting all too well. You've slapped big yet taxing moves on it. I'd start hard with those, and given the taxation of either one, follow up with QA if you need to finish the job and strike them before they hit your weakened Pokemon.

Empoleon Lv.52 Sea Incense
Bide-I'm planning to get rid of this for something better...
Brine
Drill Peck
Surf
Surf is great, and I'd slap on Ice Beam as well. It's a great attack, and can be quite effective in most situations. Agility's an option to make it faster. It'll double its speed, and then you can start KOing with its high Special Attack stat and moves like those above. Besides, you need a Special user on your team, as most of these are physical. Also, no point in Brine if you have Surf.

Luxray Lv.53 Magnet
Tackle-Swap for Thunderbolt perhaps?
Crunch
Charge
Thunder Fang
Keep its movepool physical to take advantage of its strong atk stats.

Lucario-Level 39-still training! Hatched from Riley's Egg
Reversal
Force Palm
Aura Sphere
Counter
Give it Close Combat when the time comes.

Back-up
Gyarados Lv.70

Aqua Tail
Dragon Dance
Hyper Beam
Hydro Pump
Make use of its attack. Dragon Dance, then lead into physical attacks. Teach it Waterfall so it gets an increase for "water" attack. Also, don't forget, it can learn Earthquake. That's what you wanted for Volkner, right?

EDIT: I see you've already taken care of him. Congrats.

My Lucario's level 53 as well now-I've found that it levels up quickly outside Mt Coronet in Snowpoint-especially against Abomasnow! It knows ExtremeSpeed, AuraSphere, Close Combat and Dragon Pulse(^-^)
Also...I caught an Absol there!
Should I teach Empoleon Blizzard?

Not unless you plan to also have an Abomasnow on your team. Its Snow Warning ability brings permanent Hail, and Blizzard is 100% accurate in Hail. Just go with Ice Beam instead. For Empoleon, I suggest Surf, Ice Beam, Grass Knot, and Signal Beam. Flash Cannon gives strong STAB, but Steel is only strong against Ice and Rock, and Surf does at least normal damage to every Rock type anyway.

If you're worried about the cost of the Ice Beam TM, all you need to do is to fight the Gentleman and Socialite on the route with the Pokémon mansion. They should give alot of money for every battle. You could use those to convert to coins and then you should be able to buy the Ice Beam TM.

Now that's a better moveset.

Nah, go with Ice Beam. And I would've told you Grass Knot, but I don't know if you used it on another already. Try other Special Attacks for sure though. It's pretty much what Empoleon's best at in terms of attack.

Grass Knot? I didn't think it was that good XD
I already have IceBeam, but I wait a long time before choosing to use my TMs :)

i can give you any TMs you need if you want to save yours. just send me a PM if you need any

The Elite 4 and Cynthia are officially....EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They're impossible to beat!! And I think I've managed to choose the weakest, slowest pokemon possible! My useless Gyarados is up for trade...but it seriously sucks-I am SO not trading with my friend next time!
And I'm ready to give up...
