Sensitive Sess: The Man Who Played Pokémon

G4 sucks. Seriously.

Although the part with the "Yu-Gi-Oh Gang" was funny.

They did seem to know quite a bit with the TCG. I heard the terms "Aquapolis" and "EX".

Yugioh Gang?

Speaking of G4

The comic-funny. The station-used to be funny.

Anyway, I really don't care what G4 says anymore, since it now seems to be less about reviewing the games and more about creating humor.

Hehe, I've seen that actual episode of X-Play before!

That was a funny, yet very mean scene, in my opinion (that poor Pokemon fan - or actor who portrayed a Pokemon fan - I felt sorry for him).

Also, I don't like it when people make fun of Pokemon.

But oh well, I still like this segment anyway, cause Adam is very funny, and I like when Pokemon is mentioned on X-Play.

And by the way, on another note, did anyone happen to catch the episode where X-Play reviewed Pokemon Mystery Dungeon? I've always wanted to know what score they gave those 2 games, but unfortunately, because of my classes I always miss the show.

(if anyone has an idea where I can find this segment, please tell me)

It's very obviously staged, and that's why it's funny. Jeez, I didn't know Pokémon fans didn't have a sense of humor. Why can't we laugh at ourselves? I'm not like that guy, so I don't feel like I've been made fun of (I don't play the TCG, anyway).

. . . . . . . --;

This is just so an over-exaggerated (and laughably) fake portrayal of a Pokémon fan it goes beyond tasteful comedy. Not only that, but it seems to promote a culture of mindless poeple blindly following fads and trends, and I don't want to get started on how I hate those kind of people - they are just so untrue to their own heart and... oh well.

And while we Pokémon fans can be obsessive at times, we are not as obsessed as what that video wants us to think. And our fashion and social sense is definitely on a much higher level than that.

And Pokémon is not that outdated as you may think - it's just because of people who make videos like this that pushes us into hiding.

This is not the main problem. The problem is that the video tries so hard to be funny by portraying people in that manner, and the subtle messages in that video.

Isn't this footage old, as in from the time when Pokémon was a fad and this kind of portrayal of fans was not absurd? If so, there is no reason to feel personally offended or misrepresented, if there even was one when this was at least relevant.

I looked it up, and this skit was actually first shown in the same episode as the review of Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness (late October 2005). It's not that old.

Oh, and it looks like G4 hasn't reviewed a Pokémon game since Trozei (no video/written review on their website or on GameRankings).

EDIT: I just noticed that there's now a segment of Cheat! about Ranger (mostly it's tips about the Marine Challenge)

Eh...X-Play always has that not-so-droll way of attacking games primarily intended for a younger audience. I've seen the sketch a few times, and suffice it to say...well, it doesn't exactly get better with each additional viewing.

Similar barbs are tossed at MegaMan: Battle Network, it's just a fairly esoteric view they've got. They'll bash Pokemon XD for not having many new features, then praise the latest GTA installment that adds a minor improvement here and there. It's just the X-Play way.

Don't get me wrong, the show does have its moments and does show signs of objectivity in some reviews, to be sure. It's typically entertaining, I dare say, especially with characters like Drunk Link and that Stan Lee "experience" guy to enhance the show greatly. I'm just not watching the show for the sophomoric, mordant and utterly ostensive attacks on a franchise I enjoy. Come to think of it, their political jokes are dated at the very time they're delivered as well. Eh...

I lost my respect for G4 a long, LONG time ago. It was cool when we first got it, but then everything changed, I used to only watch AOTS, but that changed for the worst and became practically unwatchable for me.

I find it hard to feel sorry for a staged performance.

G4's become ridiculous as a channel dedicated to gaming. Acquiring anime shows was bad enough, but now they got shows such as Arrested Development, The Man Show and Cops. I...can't possibly imagine what the powers that be for G4 are thinking. To think they dropped Victor Lucas and Tommy Tallarico's review show and had such random offal replace it...a shame.

I decided to watch X-Play at 11:30 AM local today. The only review that was relevant to me (since I only own GBA, DS, and GCN; working on getting a Wii) was about Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime. After watching said review, I read the corresponding review article in Nintendo Power, and I think I got a better review from the magazine. That TV station has outlived its usefulness. If I really want a review from them, I'll just watch it on their website (I think they put everything from X-Play up on g4tv.com)
