On Serebii's page for the Zorua event, it says "Take the Celebi to an as-of-yet undisclosed location in Isshu, and you'll find a man with the Zorua. Talk to him with your Celebi out of its Pokéball and he will say that Zorua & Celebi are enjoying playing with each other and will offer the Zorua to you to take."

I was wondering if Serebii just misinterpreted the screenshot (maybe Celebi comes out of its Poké Ball after you talk to the man as part of the event and not beforehand?) or if this is the actual description of the event and we just missed it in the excitement. I'm sure if there were any mention of this feature returning it would be big news, but I just wanted to confirm with people who can read the Coro Coro scans whether or not they mention having Celebi out of its Poké Ball. When I first saw that screenshot I jumped to the same conclusion, but I realized that it was probably just part of the event, until I saw that Serebii seems to think the same thing. Probably just a misinterpretation, but I figured I'd check anyway.

"With your celebi out of it's pokeball" sounds like the feature could be returning, but you can choose which pokemon you want out and/or turn the feature on or off.

Or it could just be part of regular gameplay, Trainer Yusuf

Quite. It could be optional or something just for this event(or some other possibility I have not thought about yet). We have to wait for some sort of confirmation about what is going to happen for this feature.

Since the other screenshots don't depict any Pokémon following the heroes, I think the feature won't return in BW. I mean, ever since Gen I we've seen Pokémon in the overworld outside their Poké Balls several times for distinct purposes, so the Movie 13 event might be one of those cases: you bring the Celebi to the right place and it pops out of its ball then the event unfolds; the event ends, you receive the Zorua and Celebi goes back to the Ball. That's my bet.

Personally, I would like the feature to return, but I won't mind if it doesn't.

I was thinking maybe they decided to let you turn the feature on/off and that could be why we haven't seen them follow the player in other screen shots. I wouldn't mind if it didn't return though.

I don't really see why the heck they would waste all those overworld sprites...

Its plainly obvious that we will most definitely see the return of walking pokemon.

That can be indeed the other possibility, and I've taken it into account, but then wouldn't they show us at least one screenshot (not countng these, as the event makes it special circumstances) with a Pokémon following the characters?

With the change in the camera angle, those sprites would be useless anyway, so even if the efature returns, GF would have to make new sprites for them. Plainly obvious? Then why no proof of that has been given, please enlighten me.

They might show us one once more pokemon are revealed, but they could show us one with one of the starters following the character.

Which hasn't happened after all of this time. That's why I still don't think the feature will make a comeback. Which is a pity, as it injected so much life to the franchise.

Okay, fine. Whats plainly obvious is that sprites will be used one or another.

I don't really see why they would make an entire set of sprites for one set of games...

Well, yeah. But they were hardly used at all and have alot of potential. Though, maybe you're right and they'll just make a brand new set for BW if it returns, using the old ones as bases.

I personally think it's an event thing. Alot like the Dr. Footstep thing in D/P/PT, you talk to the guy, and you let your Celebi out of the ball. When you're done, Celebi comes back into the ball.

Only one huge problem with that.

If it it is optional, how important is it really to see a Pokemon outside of it's Poke ball?

It was pretty much mandatory in HGSS, why would they feel the need to over show it in B/W. The way I see it, they were trying to advertise a brand new game, with brand new features, not Pokemon following you.

Which is if it is optional, no reason to show the feature (of Pokemon following you) outside of a specific event/reason. Do we really care to see a Pokemon following you in a brand new generation? Or do we care about the actual new generation?

Now I'll admit I could be wrong, but showing Pokemon following you when it's most likely optional is incredibly unnecessary.

Besides I'm not sure it makes sense for Celebi to be out if it was just for a specific event. Some Pokemon had over-world sprites just because, while any important ones (to the player) were specifically Pokemon you can obtain, or maybe for some plot reasons like the Psyduck in DPPT. Zorua may have a purpose here, but I'm not sure Celebi does, considering in most games just having the Pokemon first in your slot or even in the party has some effect. Granted it could be some plot reason, but the only time having your Pokemon out that resulted in some event like "OMG YOU HAS A CELEBI, HERE TAKE ZORUA" was HGSS. As I said it just seem unnecessary for Celebi to be out if that's the case. Sure they may be trying to make it look better than simply having the Pokemon but the way it is right now seems way too unnecessary.

They might show us one once more pokemon are revealed, but they could show us one with one of the starters following the character.

I think this is the most likely reason. I'm hoping they have just 'turned it off' for the promos so they can hide the Pokemon that are yet to be revealed. I loved that feature though.

It's not a feature that should be kept secret.
If Pokemon could follow the player, there's no reason to hide it, so I think it's not going to happen in Black and White.
And that Celebi there, is just for the event, because it is the Pokemon needed to activate it.

Or, maybe they're still making the overworld sprites for all Pokemon and haven't finished them yet?
