[color=0099ff]Bad pun, I know. Just hope that people can see the symbolism to the duality of the title of this poem and see the e.e.cummings showing through in this....

I used quite a few devices to make the poem function; I hope people can see those, too....

soulless; forced to show emotion
lifeless; kicked while he's down
careless; haunted by his past
passionless; robbed of all he loved

scorned; faceless foes affront him
ignored; aggressionless attacks continue
overlooked; attentionless times begin
forgotten; faceless yet again

why do people try to make themselves important?
what sparks that fire deep within?
what compells them forward from the masses in an attempt to stand out?
what makes them lust to be what flares in everyone's minds?

why do so many fail to be remembered?
what extinguishes their passion?
what pushes them out of the spotlight?
what makes the excitement of others to cease?

the ebb of time, the flow of history
a flood that iniciates a new dawn
cleansing the impurities of the past
life embarks from sanction and begins itself anew

the tide fades
it tugs underfoot
it reminds
it

returns
