Series Winding Down?

At least, Gen V seems to be the 2nd-to-last Gen, at most 4th-to-last. The basis for my theory? They're running out of regions. Take a look at this map of Japan:

Now, we all know the regions of the main games are based on the regions of Japan. Kanto and Johto are based on Kanto & Kansai respectivly, with bits of Chubu thrown into both. Hoenn is based on Kyushu & Okinawa, while Sinnoh is based off Hokkaido. That leaves Tohoku, Chogoku, and Shikoku, and what's left of Chubu. Now, the theory seems to be that the new gen will be based off Tohoku, so that's one down. They may or may not decide to skip the rest of Chubu (popular theory seems to place Orre above Kanto & Johto), and when it comes to Chogoku & Shikoku, the question there is whether they'll do the two separately or just lump them together.
EDIT (please read): Ok, as many people had mentioned, just because we've run out of places in Japan doesn't mean the series is over. The only question that remains then, is what direction the games would take. Would they make new regions based on other parts of the world? Or will they rehash the old regions, like what happened with Kanto in GSC/HGSS?

Exactly. They already have one of USA/Mexico's west coast. They can just move on to russia, korea and china when they run out in Japan.
 
With all of the money made from Pokemon, why would they stop just because a lot of the regions in Japan are used up.

This. Pokemon has been, and still is, so flippin' popular it's not even funny. Instead of worrying about "the end" of Pokemon, we should just be happy with what we got and what's coming up for Gen V. It's a little too early to tell if the series is ending or not... correct me if I'm wrong, but the anime is primarily used to promote the games. If there's no games, there's no anime. Whenever they stop making the games is when we should be worried about it.
 
...and I'd like to add that Pokémon is swiftly catching up despite Mario being released almost two decades prior.
 
Next region they decide to use will be the country of Italy. That way, it forms the shape of a boot that I can kick you in the ass with.

And you know, we still haven't seen the region. Who's to say they won't choose some other land mass? Granted, it's about 95% certain they'll follow the same code, but we can't say one way or the other till we get that game map right in front of our eyes.

And at the minimum we won't be seeing a closure to the series. That option does not exist.
 
lol Pokemon is ending threads.

There will be Pokemon for years to come, its a big world and landmass out there. I can't wait for a region based off America.
 
When they have Japan used up, they have many options:

* Start doing another country (Pokemon Britain or Florida?)

* Do a national game featuring all of Japan.

* Time Skip.

Take your pick.

Also I would ~die of happiness~ if a Pokémon game region was based in England. Especially if it included the South Coast (and it probably would include a coast...), having a region based off where I live would be awesome.

I know, right? The fact that people continue to think that Nintendo is going to let their top franchise (or #2 franchise to Mario, but I'm sure Pokemon pulls in much more extra merchandise money than Mario does) just end are funny.
 
The prospect of them using a piece of England, and thus granting every single Pokemon in the region with top hats and the ability to drink tea, is amazing.

Or have them grab a piece of America. Now all the Pokemon come equiped with guns and wear cowboy hats.

Or hell, why not settle for a region based on Canada? Pokemon with hockey sticks and beer? You just sold me five copies right there.

And instead of PokéBlocks or Poffin, they eat Crumpets. Us Brit's love crumpets, you know?








In all seriousness though, I seriously hope we get a main series or spin off game based around an region based on England. Even if it's like the stereotypical drinking tea and massive Victorian dressed kinda England, it would still be awesome.

...Instead of Victorian dressed though they should put every girl in Gothic or Sweet Lolita.

...I'll shut up now.
